Hello everyone - I'm Ange from the UK :)

Its great reading so many inspriring things on here and also I'v learnt so much in the last 2 days!

I'm going to start the MC tommorow and have been shopping to get the stuff today however I'm unsure as to how I would know if I have "grade 2 maple syrup" I got a bottle of Clarks pure canadian maple syrup - is says 100% pure maple syrup under the ingredients so is this ok? I couldn't find any that said organic or raw or grade 2 but then I'm in the UK so I guess we probally don't use maple syrup as much here.

Also it says to use unrefined non iodized salt - now I asked the lady in the shop and she looked at me like I was mad:eek: I had no idea there was so many different kinds of salt! so my question is - is plain sea salt unrefined? and how do I know if its non iodized if it doesn't say on the box/packet?

Sorry if these are stupid questions but I really want to get it right so any help would be hugely apreciated.

Angie :)

p.s is it really ok to have 2 spoons of salt everyday? seems like an awfull lot considering we are always being told we have far to much salt and should cut down.

2 spoons everyday is is too much.

For the salt water flush, you're supposed to ad only one tsp of sea salt to 1 quart of water. This has to be taken in the morning, when you first awake.

Not all sea salt is unrefined. if it says plain, that means it's been processed.

It should say unrefined on the label. If it doesn't then do not buy it.

Grade 2 is recommended (the darker, the better)

Here's a website you can visit for more information:

Hello again & thanks for your reply - I'v just come back from looking around 3 supermarkets at the various salts & despite there being a huge selection of salts not one of them says "unrefined" on the lable - I guess here in the UK they just don't use that word?? I got some expensive pure sea salt which says "pure crystal sea salts with no additives" so I'm hoping this will be ok.

I've just been looking all through the MC suport forum and it definately says 2 teaspoons of salt per quart not 1. I've looked up the conversions to see what how much a quart is and I think its 1000ml or one litre but I'm still a little confused as it says 2 level teaspoons for an american quart or 2 rounded teaspoons for a Canadian quart but according to the conversion site both a US quart and a Canadian quart are 1000ml

A 1000ml or 1 litre seems like a lot of water to drink in one go - I guess as I won't be consuming any other salt at all 2 teaspoons is around 6 grams which is the reccomended daily allowance so it should be ok.

If I'v got this totaly wrong - please someone tell me before I down a litre of salty water tommorow morning

mucho thanks :)

I think your measurements are accurate.... personally - I'm one of those that doesn't do the SWF... neither does Morn.

I don't do it cuz it just doesnt seem to work for me -- I end up swelling up like a balloon!! I use a laxative tea and an herb called Cascara Sagrada these help me to keep my bowels moving and the toxins from building up.

Lots of people SWEAR by the SWF though... and have EXCELLENT results with it... PURE CRYSTAL SEA SALT is PERFECT!! you did good tanglewood!! :D

as far as the Maple syrup... you might see if they say -- 'GRADE B'... that is the darkest and contains the most micronutrients in it to feed your body.

great to have you jumping in!! Make sure to check into the MC challenge thread -- you don't have to be going 40 days to join in our little chat group... in fact - lots of peeps there doing juice along with the MC.... it's just a great place for support and information!!!

hey thanks for that - I'm probally worrying far to much about it all but I really want to get it right.

Wow - a whole litre of salty water first thing in the morning, I drink alot of water but a litre in one go sounds like a challenge :p

Another quick question before I go to bed - do you think its best if I start the lemonade drinks tommorow but start the salt water flush the day after as I've been very naughty today and have eaten lots of chocolate (purely to get rid of it so I'm not tempted of course :D ) I've read on the MC suport forum that its not a good idea to have the SWF unless your stomache is empty and I guess mine won't be in the morning but the day after should be ok?

Again I'm sorry for so many questions & I'm trying to research before asking but I'm very new to all this forum chat and am still figuring out how it all works.

thanks for your patience & I'll defo go have a look in the MC challenge thread

big smiles :)

So funny. I had tons of regular chocolate the night before my first MC last year. I was sort of saying goodbye, ha, and never looked back. You will be fine if you have the salt flush drink in the morning. Your tummy will be empty by then....

SO how is it going for you Tanglewood? Are you having good results? I have yet to do a MC yet, and I started on a 3 day fast last night, made it to the 15th hour and caved. However, I am starting back on it, and kindly inform my aunt tonight that I will let her know when the fast is over. That way she will not knock on my door when there is yummy food in the house. Trust me, I am paying for the slip up now.
