I was just thinking about this the other day...Isn't it pointless for a person to buy cold pressed olive oil and then use it for cooking?

Certainly not as ridiculous as buying raw milk to put in a cooked recipe (and yes, I have seen cooked recipes that insisted you use raw milk for it's health benefits!).
Cooking anything really doesn't make much sense at all (and that still doesn't stop me from cooking about 10% of my food, I know it's stupid, it destroys my health, and wastes tons of energy, but I'm human, and humans are stupid [I don't say that to insult any specific person, just the incredible stupidity of the human being, the stupidest animal on earth]).

I think that it's a gradual improvement to a person's diet who may have been doing much worse. If someone is switching from using hydrogenated oil to cold pressed olive oil...even if they are still using it for cooking, it's a step up.
Just like a person who switches from cow's milk to (pasteurized) almond milk...just the simple fact that they are eliminating cow's milk and replacing it with the almond milk (though technically cooked) it's still a step up towards healthier eating for that individual.
But back to the oil...a cooked-food eating person's motive for using cold pressed olive oil is just that they want a healthier oil, period. A raw food eater's motive for using it is because they want to be assured it's 'raw' as to not compromise their raw diet. So to a raw fooder, it would seem pointless and defeating the purpose because of our intent with using that type of oil...but to someone who is a cooked food consumer, it's another step towards an overall healthier diet to use a healthier type of oil.

Cold pressed oil, lightly cooked, may be better than oil that has been bleached, deoderized and hydrogenated, than lightly cooked.
Of course, we all know raw is best.

I agree it can be better, but I've never seen hydrogenated oils sold like that, I've only seen them in processed foods. Can you really buy hydrogenated olive oil??
The pasteurized cow milk to cooked almond milk is a great example too, and in that case is definately much better. I strongly believe pasteurized dairy is much more dangerous than smoking, and tons and tons of studies show how deadly it is, dairy is a leading contributor to cancer and heart disease, the 2 leading causes of death.
Rawkinlocs, great new profile picture. I hadn't recognized you at first glance but your username confirmed it was you.

I agree with Rawkinlocs. AND it tastes about a zillion times better. That's something everyone deserves to know, regardless whether cooked or raw.
