Hi, My name is Jennifer and I have been working on becoming Raw for about a month now. I have had alot of relapses on chips and salsa and sugar. I do good for a few days and then I give in to a craving. I'm focused on my weight and want to lose weight and instead I've gained. I've been drinking smoothies with soy protein in it. I wonder if I should not use that. I'm calming down on the nuts. I was eating way too many. I've been good more then bad so, that is my frustration with the lack of weight loss. I have suffered from constipation my entire life and depression. Even though I've been weight focused I have always been into health and nutrition. I want to be healthy and feel energetic and happy. I know that I can and am just struggling with myself. I feel like I need more support.

Welcome!!! I wish you the best of rawesome health! I empathise with your chips and salsa addiction, and I'm here to say that raw ones are wonderful!! I make many different types of raw corn chips, and I love fresh salsas and guacamole. The sugars you will crave less as time goes by - that's a hard addiction, but in time you'll replace it with honey, agave, and refined sugar will become too sweet for your palate. Just give it time. (((hugs))) I've now released 81.9 pounds since last June - raw living made it possible for me and will for you. Do drop the soy protein, but if you want one you can put in - get raw hemp protein powder. Start putting some cold-milled flax seed into your diet for the constipation, and trade out your nuts fats for avocados and olives - those will help you release, nuts will sometimes make you gain. And drink LOTS of water! How much weight are you trying to release? (don't say lose - you may find it again;) Smaller amounts take more time than larger ones.

Blessings -

Hi Mattye,

Thank you for your support. I would love your raw recipe for corn chips. Do I need a dehydrator? I want to get a food processor and make salsa. Do you have a receipe for that, too? :) Right now all I have is a simple blender. I love avocados so, that should be an easy trade. I have recently gained weight....not alot but, enough to get me obsessing on it. I am only need to probably lose about 10 pounds to feel comfortable again.
Thank you so much for your support. I do so appreciate it. :)

I would suggest putting more whole foods in your diet and eating simply. The whole foods have lots of fiber and will help you to feel full without eating a lot, also the fiber will help remove toxins to keep you feeling good.

Hi Starfire and EZrider,

Thank you or the warm welcome. I do eat whole foods also, or so I think. I usually eat a spinach salad daily with broccoli, carrots, red cabbage......and am using oil/vinegar dressing now instead of thousand island ;). Is there other foods that might help?

Thank you again so much :)
Jen

Jennifae - yes, you will need a dehydrator with teflexx sheets for the corn chips. They're simple - process a a big bag of corn until smooth in the food processor and add stuff - I've done many combinations and published them in my e-book, FRUGAL RAW!: bell pepper, olive/onion, plain, salsa - and when I come off my fast I'll be making something akin to Habanero Doritos - my all time fave! Spread the concoction on the teflexx sheets thinly and dehydrate at 105 degrees until crispy - I like to leave mine in for about 24 hours.

As for salsas, I have an abundance of those as well. Food processors do best on salsas because you can lightly pulse chop, but you can also cut it all up by hand in very small pieces, which would be more of a pico de gallo. A basic traditional salsa would be tomato, onion, jalapeno, and cilantro. I also like to liven it up with some fresh lime juice. If you are making a salsa in the food processor and want one with a bit more of a salsa "sauce", soak and add sundried tomato half or two. Process the sundried in a little of the soak water first until smooth, and then add the rest one ingredient by ingredient (hardest to softest) and pulse chop on each addition. Then salt and pepper to taste.

Hi Mattye,

Gosh, thank you so much :) I will get your e-book soon. I am looking forward to learning more. I'm curious though what do you mean by a big bag of corn? I don't think I've ever noticed corn in a bag....only corn in cans and on the cob.....forgive my ignorance ;)

Hey Jennifae - what I am talking about is frozen corn. I've used both white and yellow, and sometimes mixed. I say get a big bag, because you'll love these chips!! :D
