My Frozen Durian.

good title for a book, huh? :p I stopped at this "world market" and asked the guy if he had durian. He said yes-in the freezer. He pulled out this big frozen whole durian. It was $1.69/lb. Is that a decent price? he told me to just leave it on the counter and let it defrost before I open it. I'm guessing that it won't be quite the same as fresh durian, right?

I've never had one before, so any extra advice or shared exp would be welcomed. :)

I got my dad to buy me one at the Asian market once (about that price, I think)
I set it on the counter and cut it open the next day and tried it....
I liked it...
but...
I'm not allowed to bring it in the house anymore! haha
My parents hated the smell sooo much! :o :D

That was my only experience, and the flesh had a nice texture even though it had been frozen and thawed...but I've never had a fresh one.. so, i dunno

But be prepared for the smell!

What does it smell like? Taste like?? Are they good for you....well I mean, something specific?? I've heard them mentioned before. I don't think I can get the nerve up to buy one, if I could find one.:rolleyes:
