Do you have a dehydrator?

Coleslaw, salad, 1/2 flat of strawberries ~ um, define "cheap".
You can always as the person putting this thing together what s/he would suggest.

by cheap i mean i can;t really afford a lot. maybe 10 dollars and under.
i am still very new to raw and nervous about bringing food!

Yes, I second the coleslaw - it is so so cheap and you can make it beautifully and quickly in the food processor with red and green cabbage and carrots and then throw in some raisins (or not). Even without a food processor it's not too bad ...

Heck, just use a good knife.
Why waste energy being nervous? go out and play then come in and chop up some cabbage.

How about taking a dessert like cookies since you have a dehydrator? There are recipes on the board and also at goneraw.com

Thanks for posting this question. I'm in the same boat believe it or not. We also have a raw potluck to go to this Saturday and I too am freaking out about what to bring. I was told to bring a bowl of grapes or oranges and bananas. Easy. But that can be expensive. I'm looking for cheap too. I like the coleslaw idea!

2inlovewithraw, it is too funny. However, my potluck starts at 5 pm. I'm not sure we're going just yet. My husband isn't completely "there" with the whole raw idea (although he loves all the green smoothies, fruits, veggies, salads, and nuts). However, I am going (for sure) to a raw food demo tomorrow at 12 noon. I'm just hoping to drive the 40 miles to go to the potluck too. Not asking for much...right?
Looking forward to hearing about your potluck experience! :D

people love Gus's Rawlmond Joys. They take about 10 min to make-and no dehydrating.

here-I copied the thread for you:
My 9 year old developed this recipe. We aren't exactly sure of the measurements-we eyeballed it, so let me know if something isn't right.
Gus's Rawlmond Joys
1 c of raisins
1/2 c of shredded coconut
1 T cacao
1/4 coconut oil
agave to taste
First blend the raisins in the FP. add oil and shredded coconut. mix. Add cacao and agave. Shape into small bars and add an almond on top. You can eat them right away, but they are better if you can wait and refridgerate them for 30 min or more. enjoy! (makes about 12 bars)
