In addition to Alissa's book
can anyone give me advice on these titles
1. Raw Secrets by F. Patenaude
2. The Raw Food Detox Diet by Natalia Rose
3. Eating without Heating by S. Boutenko
4. The Macrobiotic Way by M. Kushi

I started raw in March and bought 3 of the Boutenko books including Eating without heating. (That whole family is very inspiring.) I now have a Library of about 15 books that I lend out to family and friends. I usually make sure that if they are just starting out they read those books, Alissa's book and The complete Book of Raw Food by Lori Baird and Julie Rodwell. Most of the recipes that I have had good luck with come out of those books.

Although I though I had every raw book in creation, the only two that I have that you suggest are Alissa's book number one as far as I am concerned, and Eating without Heating by Sergi and Valya Boutenko, anything by the Boutenko's is great. They have been raw for 11 years now, and are truly beuatiful people who know how to teach, this is interesting.

I also highly recommend Rhio's "Hooked on RAW", and "RAW" by Charlie Totter, although some say it is too complicated, but I love it. I love the pictures, and the recipes are marvelous, but I have been a gourmet cook for years, when I went vegetarian, I turn to vegetarian gourmet, than Vegan gourmet, now Raw gourmet, It just takes a little more effort, but well worth it.

Hope this helps.

I love the Natalia Rose book. Her approach is a slow-ish transition to raw for most people, to avoid severe detox. That's what worked best for me too. Writing style is also good, and recipes are simple and delicious -- she doesn't do dehydrator stuff though (which I'm not generally crazy about, so that was fine for me) so if that's what you're after....

I have to admit, I'm especially attracted to raw writers who look great, vibrant, healthy, and she does indeed. I guess I'm hoping that I'll look that way from doing the same things. :p
