Oops well can't change the header, so I'll just put this up top...
I've actually decided to do a 45 day fast . A combination of a water, green juice & green smoothie fast. Woo hoo! I'M EXCITED!!! If anyone wants to join in at any stage, PLEASE FEEL FREE. The more the merrier!
14 day water fast (4/17-4/30)
7 day green juice fast (5/1-5/7)
24 day green smoothie fast (5/8-5/31)
--------------------------
Hello, I'm going to do a Three Day Water Fast beginning tomorrow Thurs, April 10th thru Sat, April 12th. I'm breaking it on the full moon, Sunday, sure to bring forth some powerful revelations. I was meditating in the warm sun this afternoon and my body is so ready for this. I'm looking forward as I've never done a water fast, just juice cleanses. I'm starting with 3 days to see how it goes. It will be interesting and I look forward to some deep healing on all levels. I may just continue with the water fast if it feels right and/or just start the master cleanse on Sunday. I will let my body be the guide. It's spring and it's time to clean. Yeah. Anyone care to join me? If so, feel free...we can support one another.
Here's my glass of water for first thing in the morning simmering with a beautiful pink rose from my garden and a rose quartz at the bottom to infuse it with some love and energy from the earth.

I am so ready...bring it on!

The Health Benefits of Water Fasting
By Stephen Harrod Buhner

Fasting is an exceptionally ancient, and powerful, approach to healing many common disease conditions. It allows the body to rest, detoxify, and to heal. During fasting the body moves into the same kind of detoxification cycle that it normally enters during sleep. It uses its energy during a fast, not for digesting food, but for cleansing the body of accumulated toxins and healing any parts of it that are ill. As a fast progresses the body consumes everything that it can that is not essential to bodily functioning. This includes bacteria, viruses, fibroid tumors, waste products in the blood, any build up around the joints, and stored fat. The historical record indicates that human beings are evolutionarily designed to fast. It is an incredibly safe approach to healing and the body knows how to do it very well.
The Physiological Changes of Fasting
Many of the most dramatic changes that occur in the body during fasting take place on the first three days of the fast. ...

How to Properly Break a Fast
By eHow Health Editor
http://www.ehow.com/how_2032965_properly-break-fast.html
Fasting involves the restriction or elimination of food intake for a period of time. Properly breaking a fast means resuming normal eating patterns. How you start eating again can be as important as the fast itself. Most people find that it can take some time before their bodies are able to completely re-adjust to eating regularly. Follow these steps to learn how to break a fast properly.
Decide If You've Accomplished Your Goals by Fasting
Step 1:
Define the reasons to break the fast, whether it's because you're feeling that you have accomplished your health goals, have completed the specified time period or whether you're experiencing too many side effects. Often your own body will tell you when to quit because you no longer have any energy reserves, or severe hunger pangs will return.
Step 2:
Consider switching to a juice fast before eating solid food again if you've been on a long water fast. Consult fasting resources such as Dr. Ben Kim's Web site (see Resources below) for information on the best way to break a fast.
Properly Break Your Fast
Step 1:
Make your transition back to food very gradually. Take about half the time you spent on the fast to return to your normal eating habits. Start with juices and broths.
Step 2:
Considering taking L-Acidophilus supplements to return the normal balance of bacteria and enzymes to your digestive tract. They're usually quite inexpensive.
Step 3:
Continue drinking plenty of distilled or purified water during the transition period, at least 7 to 10 glasses, each 8 oz., per day.
Step 4:
Choose foods with laxative effects for your first solid meal, such as cherries, grapes or prunes. Sauerkraut is also useful during this time. It helps restore the bacterial balance in your body.
Step 5:
Wait for a few hours after eating your first solid meal in order to ensure it will not make you sick. If all goes well, you can resume eating your normal, and hopefully healthy, diet soon. Remember to eat properly and nutritiously after breaking a fast to restore vitamins and minerals to your system.

I'll have to try to check in on ya...I've been doing some juice cleansing over the past week but was also still eating some whole foods because I didn't want them to go to waste. As of this past Sunday, I am strictly on juices. Somehow it felt like it was time to really get mentally involved and concentrate..soooo, I consider Sunday my first day of fasting and cleansing. As of yesterday, I finished all of my juice I had prepared so my fasting has transitioned to my healing teas. Well, I have one tea bag left so I don't know what's next; I do know I was long overdue for this-fasting and cleansing. I usually would have had my "spring cleaning" (three days of colonics and cleansing juices) by now but time and my budget have been obstacles.....
Anyway...
I'll check in again later tonight to see how your doing:)

Dear Lavendar, this is exactly where I am also. I've been drinking a lot of green juices and green smoothies and really haven't had an appetite for solid food. I've eaten some of the nuts and avocados I had so they wouldn't spoil, but I feel like my mind and body have been gearing up for this for about 2 weeks. As of today, I have no food in my side of the fridge (I share a house :) ) and I really feel like I can do a longer water fast than 3 days. So I will pace myself after Sunday and know that it will go well. I realize this fast goes beyond food for me and includes all media, being on the computer :eek: (this will probably be the toughest part) and just really going into seclusion. I feel a power higher than myself guiding me through this. I will check in on Sunday after the 3 days to post how I'm doing...but after Sunday I will be in my cave until I finish it...
I'm a little scared when I think of doing a much longer (water) fast, but I know I can do it. I will convert my fear into confidence in prayer.
Sounds wonderful. I'm planning something similar in May. I'll be out of the country until May 1... then I will pick a Friday to take off from work and do a 3-day wheatgrass fast without using the computer and just taking peaceful walks etc. :)

I went to bed late last night, partly because I have really been thinking about my water fast...my thoughts were swimming around in my head keeping me from sleeping. I'm very jazzed & inspired. After reading the article that I posted, I feel like I can go longer than 3 days and it would be more beneficial to my overall goals health goals to do so. I really want to eradicate any remaining emotional trauma from my body and to give my joints the opportunity to heal on a higher level, especially my knee and ankle. I want to experience healing fully & completely. I'm not one to do things half mast, I need to jump in with two feet and just try. My first master cleanse was 30 days long. If I can finish lengthy juice cleansing fasts successfully, including the last one which was 40 days, I can also finish a longer water fast. And I will. I feel like everything I've been doing for my health from last April '07 until now has been preparing me for this moment. I know I can do without solid food, this is just the next logical and pure step for me. I want to let water be my guide and really give my body the gift of detoxifying & cleansing every system, organ, tissue, cell, atom and black & white particle. I'm being guided by God and I'm listening...I'm not pushing my beliefs as I don't do this, just stating where I am with my next steps and for anyone else who understands where I'm coming from. :)
I will post some of my goals to set them in motion and ground them:
To completely heal any remaining emotional trauma from my body
To cleanse & rejuvenate my body down to the cellular level
To simply complete the fast with a great sense of accomplishment and setting in motion my strengthening & rebuilding plan...the next phase to my healing process
"I embrace this water fast with faith, courage and confidence and know I am healing every cell of my body in every way"

Day 1
I've been preparing for this fast for the past two weeks unbeknownst to me. I've only wanted to drink green juices and water. :) I've had solid food also, but I was enjoying the blended foods so much better. I realize now this water fast is not just about food, but also about fasting from other areas... the media, the computer, socializing, etc. I foresee I need to rest and clear my mind; be in solitude. So this means I will not be posting too much, if at all. I plan to update my progress on Sunday, but after this I won't be on the computer again until I finish my fast. I really want to do this and I know I can! Just had to write that to set it in stone. I'll definately post my overall results when I'm completely finished. :D
It is Day One and I just swilled down a salt water flush to clear my colon before drinking my first glass of water. I will see how my body feels with detox symptoms and maybe use the SWF periodically to clear toxins. I also plan to do some wheatgrass implanting or enemas. I've never given myself an enema in my life, so this will be new territory for me. We shall see.
HERE'S TO OUR GOOD HEALTH!

This morning I woke up thinking this was going to be pretty easy. However, when 2pm rolled around and I mindlessly entered the kitchen to make a smoothie, the reality of my commitment to myself hit me full force. Thank God I don't have any food in the house. Honestly, I don't know what I would've done had there been. I think I would've been okay but you never know. I drank a glass of water and realized this is going to be an extreme test of my willpower and I'm not looking at it lightly any longer. I'm already being humbled that I'm in for some interesting experiences and rude awakenings. Oh boy. I'm going to have to stay present with my affirmations and intentions that's for sure. And I will.
I'm primarily doing this to test whether or not my body is ready to completely release the scar tissue in my knee. And I'm also just curious to experience the experience of water fasting and to see what level my healing will take me. I have no idea what to expect, but I expect the best. I also want to loose the jiggly wiggly around my waist. Not necessarily on the rear or top, haha, but definately around the midsection. It's been quite some time since I've had really toned abs and this is my next step, strengthening my core and my entire body really. Once you release the extra fat stores, I think it's only natural that you want to feel fit and strong.
Taking measurements and weighing yourself can get so boring after you've recorded them for years, lol. So I decided to take some snapshots of what I look like today to compare to the end of fast. I intentionally don't have a scale, so I'll have to weigh myself when I visit a friend's or if I'm in the store I'll just jump on the scale. I would like to track the weight loss also.
I'm only going to record my hips, waist and thighs: Hips 36.5 inches, Waist 31.5 inches, Thighs 21 inches.

Lavendar, I wish you much strength as you continue to do this. In my research of fasting center testimonials, generally people are really taking it easy on water fasts. When they go to a fasting retreat center for example, they're getting massages, relaxing and sleeping! Not too strenuous of exercise and just doing mild yoga, stretching etc. You know your body better than anyone else of course...I'm just sharing what I'm discovering. I've been taking short walks and that's about it. I don't want to push it, but who knows maybe I'll be able to do something more strenuous in the coming days.
And guess what?...we're saving ourselves thousands of dollars doing it at home. yay!
Keep rawkin!

I'm finding it more difficult to stay off the darn computer than not eating solid food! I also took a vow to fast from media, the computer, socializing and pretty much focus on my fast, read, meditate, heal and be peaceful and quiet. So here I am again on the laptop with a water fast update. :D I am going to keep persevering with staying off the laptop though. I will start with one day and work my way up. I work from home and rely on it to socialize with friends as well....one of my goals has been to not rely on it so much.
I'm technically in SILENT MEDITATION and sent a note to my friends and family yesterday that I wouldn't be answering the phone or emails for a few days. I also made up a little sign with a happy face that says..."I'm in silent meditation, not talking for a few days." You think it's tough explaining to people what you eat. Try not talking. Folks don't know what to do with that. Some have gotten mad at me! I just put up my little sign when they keep asking me why I'm not talking. ha. You have to laugh. I tell you it does come in handy with folks you really don't want to talk to anyway.
Guess what? I discovered I talk to myself outloud a lot! This whole process is amazing and you do learn more about yourself when you fast. I caught myself talking to myself like 5 times already. The no talking note is directed at myself too. :p It's not that easy to change some habits, especially ones you were oblivious to. I'm a thinker, always thinking and planning and I speak to myself outloud...I have to knock that off during my self-retreat. I want to calm my mind & give it a rest too...one of my goals.

I also realized I'm doing a 45 day fast which I elaborate on below. A combination of a water, green juice & green smoothie fast. Woo hoo! I'M EXCITED!!! If anyone wants to join in at any stage, PLEASE FEEL FREE. The more the merrier!
14 day water fast (4/17-4/30)
7 day green juice fast (5/1-5/7)
24 day green smoothie fast (5/8-5/31)
Water Fast
Day 1 (Thurs, 4/17)
Woke up inspired, wrote more affirmations for this fast and spent 2 hours meditating on next steps. Had a rude awakening at 2pm when I mindlessly drifted into the kitchen to make a green smoothie. Whoa, that woke me up! I poured myself a glass of water and realized I would need to humble myself and be prepared for some more enlightenment. So far my ego has been actively involved, haha, need to quiet it down and realize the power of God within me is providing the strength for me to do this and not the other way around.
I sipped on water throughout the day, I believe my body appreciates this better rather than my typical guzzling liters at a time approach. My stomach began dancing and grumbling between 6:30 – 8:30 pm and I just kept feeding it water. I stayed up reading. Slept great.
Day 2 (Friday, 4/18)
There must be an elephant in the room because it feels like one has been sitting on my head all night. I woke up with a raging headache and very scratchy throat, as if I were catching a cold and I have fire breath. My bladder also felt like it was about to burst. I was wondering where all of the water went because I really didn’t have to pee too much on Day 1. Well, after waking up I realized detox is in full effect. But you know it’s not so bad as the headache only lasted a couple of hours. My throat is still scratchy, but this could also be because I was outside for awhile yesterday afternoon and pollen is floating everywhere. Time will tell if it’s detox or not. So far I feel REALLY good, but then of course my body is still working off of the fuel I consumed 1-2 days ago. We haven’t gone into reserve mode yet, which is when the real party will get started. I’m talking about ketosis of course. I think my body’s pretty happy that it’s getting a break from digesting food and it’s used to me fasting by now. Perhaps I’ve released more toxins than I thought over these many months eating raw foods and doing the master cleanse. I do know I’m releasing a lot of toxins from my skin…I AM FUNKY and my bathwater is gross. I just took a bath last night and another this morning! You would’ve thought I was out sweating in the hot sun. Lots of gunk coming out of me…a good thing.
God has graced me with knowing that I’m actually doing a 45 day fast!!! I wasn’t listening or wasn’t ready to believe it I guess. I thought it was 3 days. No, not a water fast for all that time. Not yet! Maybe one day I will do a lengthy water fast though. Here’s the breakdown:
14 day water fast
7 day green juice fast (in part to be gentle with my digestive system & continue detox)
24 day green smoothie fast (infuse myself with some great nutrient power!)
The master fasting plan: Detox, cleanse & rebuild with superfoods :D
I will be done fasting on 5/31 and in even more glorious health than I am today.
And so it is grounded today, in present time and I’m ready to roll.
Thank you everyone for your support and well wishes. I really appreciate it!!!
Dear LavendarJ, I hope you're going to keep going...I'll check back in with you in a few days. :-)

I'm on day 3 of the water fast and it's going really well. I'm not hungry at all and wasn't yesterday either. I did get really tired after about 5pm yesterday and took it easy. Took an epsom salt bath and was wiped out, then took an early evening nap and slept for 3 hours. Today I've had more energy and even went to the food co-op with a friend this afternoon. None of the food phased me...I'm really focused on my goal. I'm actually surprised it's not harder, but I suppose I have really let go of more toxins in my body than I thought! It's a nice feeling. I'm not going to get too cocky yet, as I still have a few days to go. I'm interested to see where my body is going to take me. For anyone who's been raw for some time and wants to try a water fast, don't be afraid it's really not that bad. It really isn't. I feel GREAT. Oh and there's a veggie/raw potluck in my town on 5/31, so I may have to wrap up my green smoothie fast earlier to enjoy the delicacies. That's okay, I know I will have accomplished quite a lot by the end of May. I'm still very motivated to do this and I'm praying for strength daily.
Not talking is great too. But it's definately not easy! :cool:
Until next time...

I forgot to add the monster headache is gone on my third day! My throat is still scratchy though, there is a lot of pollution in Sacramento. And I went to Vegas after my LA trip. Raw foodist + smoke filled casino = does not go together very well. I think I'm releasing stuff from my lungs and throat. Yuck...but a good thing. Oh I will be so lucky if I continue along this track of not having too many detox symptoms, although I've heard each day is different so I'm gonna hang on for the ride.
Thanks for listening.

Glad to see you are still rolling along. I managed a few cups of tea; received a financial blessing and was thrilled to buy some tea to have on hand when I really need some energy. I also managed to workout Friday and Saturday for over an hour which surprised me considering the lack of food intake....

It's my fourth day on this water fast and I'm still not experiencing any major detoxification symptoms. I don't know if this is a good or bad thing. :confused: I do have a slight headache again, around the forehead but nothing that's keeping me from my daily routine. I'm not complaining of course if this is going to be smooth sailing all the way through...I'm already feeling squeaky clean and my skin looks great. Hope that doesn't sound conceited, but it does. ha.
Emotionally I'm pretty irritated right now...I am releasing something. I had the most freaky dreams last night that I cannot repeat here. Oh wow, they were weird! I'll have to pull out my dream interpretation book.
I've also been seeing bears in my mind's eye for a couple of days. hahahaa. I couldn't figure out why I was seeing bears and I asked the question in meditation, what's up with the bears? I then saw the Klondike Bear, oh my God and I immediately got it! I used to eat a whole package of 6 klondike bars in one sitting, in front of the TV or watching a movie. And haggan daaz ice cream bars. My body is letting go of something related to me poisoining myself for many years with those things. It's being gentle about it obviously as it lets it go. I also feel like i'm getting the message to really understand and appreciate how far I've come. How really awful it really was...how much I relied on food to feed my emotions and feel good about myself. Movies + socializing with friends eating junk + junk food = bliss. That was my life. Now it's Pure Bliss + Raw foods = appreciation for my amazing body. Thank you body. Water fasting is a trip I tell you. You discover so much about yourself. Everyone should try it at least once.
So much for staying off the computer. I give up on this one. I rely on it too much. I will take it one change at a time. Water fasting and not talking are enough for now. The computer fast is more difficult. Plus I watch movies on my laptop, so I have to turn it on anyway and cannot help sneaking a peak onto the net. :p

i like to eat a plate full of grapes while watching a movie... gives me the crunch i'm craving!
bear medicine is powerful!
The Bear is the keeper of the dream time, and stores the teachings of dreams until the dreamer wakes up to them. Many tribes have called this space of inner-knowing the Dream Lodge, where the death of the illusion of physical reality overlays the expansiveness of eternity. It is in the Dream Lodge that our ancestors sit in Council and advise us regarding alternative pathways that lead to our goals.
If you like bears, you should maybe look into some books on interpreting dreams; especially if you're a heavy dreamer. If you need a lot of sleep, it may be Bear working. This female receptive energy, for centuries has allowed visionaries, mystics, and shamans to prophesy.
The strength of Bear medicine is the power of introspection. Bear is not one to make snap decisions, nor one to ramrod or force into any position. Bear takes in all available information, takes it into his quiet place, studies that information carefully, gives it careful thought for a while, and then reaches his own informed decisions based on the facts at hand. Bear is the one who says, "I have to think about this. I'll be in touch later." You can rely on opinions coming from a Bear person as being well thought out and thorough, and based on the facts given. To accomplish the goals and dreams that we carry, the art of introspection is necessary.
Bear is a fierce warrior, especially when protecting their young. They appear to be lumbering and slow, but can have lightning speed when threatened. They love fish when they can get it, but they also eat berries, honey, etc. Bear people like home and shelter, and like to be warm and cozy.
With Bear Medicine, the power of knowing has invited you to enter the silence and become acquainted with the Dream Lodge, so that your goals may become concrete realities. This is the strength of Bear.

I don't eat when watching movies anymore. But if the cravings ever crop up again I will definately grab a bowl of red grapes. Love them!
YES! Bear medicine is amazing. When I would travel up to the mountains to go to sweat lodges and study with native american spiritual leaders, I learned about bear medicine. Thank you for the bear spiritual information. I was feeling this...I do think the klondike bear had some significance, but for sure what you've shared is very much what is going on with me too, most definately...

I'm really feeling this quote in particular.
My power animal is the tiger. I always thought we could have only one, don't know where I came up with this, but perhaps I've got two! The tiger and bear. :D Or maybe the mighty bear is present to help me transcend this particular time in my life. I am so honored.
Good stuff Aleesha.

Congradulations Crystal:) I do believe water fasting is probably one of the most intense of fasts/ cleanses. I am on day 15 of the MC as i know you went 40 days with MC. You are definitly one of my inspirations. I do plan on doing about 10 days of juice fasting after 30 -40 days MC, and then a week of a green smoothie fast (this is my plan anyway). Maybe by the time I get to my green smoothie phase you will still be on yours? Sorry I haven't really thought of the calculations:D But, congrats again girl on making it to day 4 with only water. AMAZING!!!!

i'm a little light-headed... hoping to be feeling a little more energetic as the day progresses. would like to get over to the gym for a light walk on the treadmill... we'll see if that happens. not going to push my body and i want it's energy for healing... not working out!
thanks for welcoming me. i find that when i fast... the more support i have...the better :::hugs:::
I've been a little lightheaded today too and have a headache. I'm about to go outside and take a walk, sit in the park in the sun. I feel like this will help. I'm not going to work out either, intuitively I feel like my body is dumping a lot of toxins right now. Welcome to this thread - I'm so glad you're here - we can support one another and I admire you greatly for the journey you've already undertaken. Your journey inspires. Thank you.

Thank you Charika. Congratulations on being on Day 15! That's AMAZING too. I'm fooling myself by saying my little affirmation I posted way above that I have the faith, courage and confidence to do this. I say it every morning, night and when I think of it. I believe this is really helping me transcend any difficulties that may surface with this water fast and making it "easy". You have to start with your thoughts. I'm refusing to say anything is intense or hard on this journey now. Say it or think it and it will be so. So I'm thinking it's easy and it's happening this way.
You're an inspiration to me too. I think we will probably be blending our green smoothie fasts at some point in May. :D Please do join in when you finish your MC and juice fast. We can green smoothie feast together.
Have a great week!

"I am a light, lean, healthy being" this is my mantra. I say it at the gym while working out, I say it during yoga, I say it last thing at night, after meditation and Reiki and after my Grateful Fors when I'm ready for sleep... it's the first thing I say in the morning (before I say my Grateful Fors for the day) - I believe it greatly assists me on my path. :)

I know that our strenght, behavior, etc..really does begin with our minds and belief systems. I know that God has revealed that to me recently also. Thanks again:)

Dear Aleesha, I love your mantra. I may borrow it, if this is okay. What I've been affirming for my water fast is "I embrace this water fast with faith, courage and confidence knowing that every cell in my body is healing in every way" I didn't include the references to my spiritual beliefs in the mantra, but you get the picture ;). We can definately inspire one another, we already we are. Thank you for sharing your spirit. You shine so brightly and I am grateful. Have a blessed day and I hope your fast is going well today.

I have been existing on nothing but clear water for five days now. I feel empowered, but I'm very tired this morning. I made a few plans that I'm going to reschedule as I want to conserve my energy. My new plan is to relax and stay in bed in my jammies for as long as I can and drink my water. My body is telling me to rest and I'm listening.
My emotions have quelled a little and I'm not as irritable as I was yesterday. I stayed to myself pretty much all day. I realize this is actually a detox symptom, emotions being released from my tissues and also a reaction to the toxins swirling around in my bloodstream. But I do feel so good knowing what I'm doing for myself. I feel wonderful and I'm getting lighter in body and spirit. The physical detox I'm experiencing is soreness in the back of my throat which could be the candida flaring up and leaving my system. But my eyesight is clearer, hearing and sense of smell is off the charts. I'm more of a bloodhound than I was before. Going into the bathroom all I smelled was chlorine. And this may sound awful, but we had houseguests this weekend and my housemate had a feast of typical SAD foods and well awful processed foods. Passing by their room in the morning I could smell all of the toxins their bodies were trying to release during their rest. It was really bad. I didn't tell this to them of course, but I scurried past that's for sure. :cool:
I've been researching even more info on water fasting and I've learned that those with a slower metabolism who gain weight easily, like myself tend to have an easier time water fasting than someone who has a high metabolism and has to eat every 1-2 hours. This probably explains why I'm doing very well on it. The site I found has a great deal of wonderful information about water fasting, fasting in general and inspirational testimonials. The gentleman who hosts the site advocates eating raw foods, although I'm not sure if he's a raw foodist. Nonetheless, I think it's safe to share the link: http://www.fasting.ws/juice-fasting/category/water-fasting
It's day 5 and I understand once you reach Day 10 your blood chemistry levels out...I look forward to this and to the day I can start drinking my juice most of all. It will be wonderful.
Have a great day all...I'll check in again later this week with an update or earlier if something profound happens. :p
In love and light,

I released 2 pounds yesterday which totally amazed me this morning. That's a total of 11 pounds for me since I began this feasting/fasting journey into my Self.
I'm just doing water, with a little citrus in my glass to assist the cutting of mucus in my blood (at least that's what I think it's doing... either way, from what I've read, it seems like a good idea).
Mornings aren't a good time as the detoxing you do during the night is more intense so it takes a couple of hours for me to bounce back - at least that's how it was yesterday, we'll see for today. I've been brushing my tongue at night before bed and first thing in the morning but today I began adding sea salt to my brush. Some times on a water fast you can get canker sores and adding some gargling of sea salt can diminish this... so instead I'll just brush with it. Normally I brush with a clean brush and nothing on it. This allows my body's natural healing abilities to care for my teeth.
I have a very positive outlook! I'm smiling and looking forward to today very much. Going to yoga, which is a very spiritual event for me will be a wonderful gift to my Self this morning.
The sun is shining brightly into the living room right now... so beautiful and healing. I've been sleeping with our bedroom blinds open during this full moon... bathing us in the healing, energizing energy of the moon.

i've had a wonderful day. a little light headed, but it's good.
i went to the gym and did a very slow walk on the treadmill for 17 minutes... then an hour of yoga. my instructor is so sweet... she tailoured the class to my needs so we did almost everything on our hands and knees or on the floor.
then i came home - rested for a few minutes and went into the sunshine and used the electric trimmer and trimmed our hedge :D did a bit of raking and realized i could do no more so i came inside and relaxed.. just folding laundry and drinking a little water.
i'm not doing much water to be honest... just maybe 80 oz max. allowing my body to get through it's detox a little faster.
tonight i teach my meditation class... and that's totally relaxing so no worries there :D:D:D
ahhhhhh the sunshine makes me so happy!!! off to take my measurements, meant to do it last night!

Hello Friends...
I'm just checking in...still doing water/herbal tea...
I don't have any noticeable detox symptoms (at least nothing that is causing discomfort); I don't even have that dull headache I had last week. I believe I'm running off of pure adrenaline and determination. I'm surprised that I'm able to workout for 1 1/2 to 2 hours daily on just water and tea. It's interesting because when I did that MC for over a month..I had to reduce my exercise way down....interesting.....perhaps the power of my herbal teas...
Anyway...
Have a Great Day!

Glad you're doing well Aleesha and Lavendar!
Charika, keep hanging in there with your MC. And you'll probably become sensitive to toxic people, not in the sense that they're abusive :) , but in terms of their health. Your sense of smell increases when you're raw and you can just smell the toxins in someone's body. It's hard to describe, but oftentimes it smells like something rotting. It makes me kind of sad too, that they just don't understand how they're making themselves ill with their diet. I haven't had crusty eyes in the morning for months, but as I release an overwhelming amount of toxins from my body on this water fast, I have them again. Most people think it's normal to have this gunk in your eyes, but it's not.
Apple! Hey there, I didn't know you were on this board too. Thank you so much for your kind words and don't be afraid of the water fast. Just step into it lightly and see where it takes you. Let us know how you're doing!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's day six and I'm bone tired today. I didn't sleep too well last night...woke up at 1:30am and was wide awake for 3 hours. My biorhythms are askew because of the detox I think. I plan to take a bath and try to relax. I plan to get out in the sun today, but I don't have much energy for even taking a walk. I remember reading something on the site I referenced above on water fasting that sometimes picking up your toothbrush feels like a workout. My body is in an incredible amount of pain, but since I know it's releasing stuff I can kind of detach from it. It's mostly my lower back, legs, head, the headache is back, throat is very sore, shoulder pain, you name it. I hope whatever it is, is coming out soon!
I will dry brush before I take my bath to help the toxins along. I also drank another SWF because I feel really bloated. It's such a trip because I'm not eating anything, but all of the toxic waste is being pushed from my colon. The other day, I let go of all of this black waste that you see in those pictures of people doing the colon cleanses. I was amazed! I'm not too fond of drinking the SWF while water fasting, it's not that easy to get it down because I'm really only drinking 2-5 glasses of water a day and my stomach is shrinking I believe. Getting down a liter of salty water all at once is not so pleasant. I still haven't bought the enema bag, I've been procrastinating. Need to go get one as I think it will be easier than the SWF. I think it works better with the master cleanse, but not a water fast.
Okay well that's the update for Day 6. One more week to go and I look forward to seeing what changes are in store. Off to do my mantras.
HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE.
i think what really assisted me to move on from feeling so yucky was my meditation last night. it's a guided meditation class i teach...and we went to a healing pool... sank to the bottom (we can breathe underwater) and sat there allowing the healing waters to take away anything from our bodies or life we wanted to heal.
then i went to bed and took a re-attunement for reiki. i find re-attunements really help me to move out the yuck... i always do one on day three of a fast or feast. since i did one on day three of my green smoothie feast... i didn't think to do one this time but was reminded last night that it was day three... so i took one. huge difference in how i feel today!
I think today is day 10. It's interesting to be at day 10 and to be ripping and running like I do without being wiped out..I'm maintaining. I didn't do my hour of exercise but I did exercise. What I was really excited about was the fact that I met my exercise goal early. I usually do 30 minute of walk/jog intervals (brisk walk one/jog one). My plan has simply been to gradually increase my stamina. On the treadmill today, I jogged 7 minutes - so I beat my 6 min goal. 7 minutes straight before needing a break and while cleansing and fasting. Wow...
I finally got a full night's rest - didn't wake up in the middle of the night. I feel some of my energy returning as a result.
Had the most interesting dreams...my dreams have been wild on this water fast! Dream after dream I was telling off my friends who were challenging my raw food choices. A lot of subconscious stuff was being released. I remember the last one very vividly, at the end of it I said "Look, I'm eating this way for my health and it's none of your d**m business!!" I woke up mad and then I laughed realizing it was just a dream, or was it? ;)
Listen to your body of course. But the reason it is recommended not to do this, is that when you eat (green smoothies included) while the toxins are swimming around in your bloodstream, it just releases more of them. And you generally end up feeling worse and for an extended period of time. It's better to ride the detox out. I went through what you're describing for 2 days. TODAY I FEEL LIKE A MILLION BUCKS. Just sharing...I have a feeling your yoga session will get things moving along and you will feel better.
Aleesha! Best of health to you....but oh man you had to rub it in enjoying that delightful green smoothie? hahaaaa. ;) I had so many food dreams last night, I woke up thinking I broke my fast. The last one I had a big bucket of macademia nuts in front of me, I was on the floor just munching away. This dream was triggered probably because I went produce shopping yesterday afternoon in preparation for breaking my fast with green juices. I purchased a large quantity of greens!!! I'm ready. I also bought a bunch of organic brazil nuts that were on sale. Hardly ever see that so I stocked up. And lara bars, 50 % off. So I bought a bunch of those for traveling trips. I'm good to go.
As far as the fast is concerned it's day 8, woo hoo. I woke up with a headache and crusty eyes. And my urine looks like dark agave nectar. Poo is just this orange yellow mucus stuff that has even me running out of the bathroom it's so toxic. lol. I've been spraying lots of pure ayre (non toxic air freshener). No more solid waste. Sorry to be so graphic, but I'm just documenting. :cool: Evidence that more toxins are coming out of my system. I only had three 10 oz glasses of water yesterday and I've been peeing like there is no tomorrow. The body is an incredible machine. Certainly is.
Well off to charge my water...I picked this up from Jeremy Safron's, The Fasting Handbook: Dining from an Empty Bowl. If you're a faster, I highly recommend this little book.
The recipe:
1 glass gallon jar
1 gallon distilled water (water with no minerals)
1 quartz crystal (well formed and naturally grown)
7 fresh cut blades of wheatgrass
3 teaspoons seawater or one pinch of sea salt
Place all ingredients in the glass jar. Leave the jar out in the sun for at least one day. (Full moon-charged water is great too!) Your water is now charged.
Anyways, so I am fasting starting today. I have only had water so far, but did buy some limes and lemons with the intention to do a MC, but I don't feel like I need anything other than water, I don't want anything than water, and then I read this great thread about water fasting....
So THANKS!
I won't be documenting too much though, I am also planning a retreat from things like this pc. Not entirely, but mostly I just want to travel inward for awhile.
Ya, travelling inward....
Cheers to spring and living and love!
I AM HUNGRY!!!!!!! :eek:
It was not a good idea to go produce shopping yesterday. I KNOW there are goodies in the house. Actually I don't think this has anything to do with it. I think my body is telling me we'd better wrap it up in a couple of days. My stomach has been growling like crazy, not too much is exiting my colon and the back of my throat is dry. I've been told by my nutritionist buddy the dry throat is a sign of true hunger and not emotional or in the mind. I will stop on Day 10 and break my fast on Sunday. Yup, that's what I'm gonna do, ego set aside. I think this is a good run for my first water fast...10 days. I originally intended to do 3 days, so I'm happy with my results. I measured myself this morning and I lost 1 1/2 inches off the thighs. Exciting stuff and I think I've lost 10 lbs. I finally got on a scale, but I have no idea what I weighed when I started. Just guessing by how my clothes are fitting. I did this for health reasons and not weight loss necessarily. But the weight loss is kinda nice too.
I will take my measurements again after I finish my green juice fasting which I'll start on Sunday. Ooh ooh ooh, can't wait.
I'M READY TO EAT!!!!!!
i don't know for sure, but maybe it has something to do with both of those modalities really going deep and hitting pressure points. if you're fasting it's probably exacerbating your detox in a positive way. things are a moving. probably a good idea to forego yoga tomorrow, but listen to intuition and your body. you may be surprised...in the morning you may be bouncing off the walls. fasting and detox are kind of crazy like that. you never know what to expect.
i do know when your neck hurts it's a sign that your lymph nodes are releasing toxins and then you may experience a headache on top of that a little later...just detox. so don't worry.
best wishes!
thanks rawheaven. that makes a lot of sense. i'll forego for now. i'm hoping one day i'll be able to do them. i really want to work on my flexibility.
one thing i learned about not to do while fasting -- looking at cook books. :p thanks for mentioning produce shopping. perhaps i will stay away from there. :D
hahahaaa...i know what you mean about looking at raw recipes. in all honesty i think that's what did me in too. i've been collecting all sorts of recipes to try. just the thought of that gorilla sandwich is driving me crazy. yeah, definately stay out of the produce section unless your willpower is supercharged. :D
You can say that again...stay away from the produce when you are fasting.. I finally stopped craving salads - for a while - Today is Day 12 of just water and teas..I'm not drinking enough water so I need to do better... I usually have a bunch first thing in the morning and two cups of tea before I walk out the house ...that's it all day (probably why my energy levels suddenly dropped. I am planning to go until May 1st...we'll see. My sister's birthday is on the 5th and she wants a key lime pie (Maraw's recipe)....
I learned the hard way...haha. Stay away from the produce section. Now that I'm know I'm stopping soon, I will venture into the food co-op today with confidence. Sheer fear is keeping from eating anything before I properly awaken my digestive system. I'm a Taurus too, Bday is coming up and I'm excited. Your key lime pie sounds delicious. I'm going to make myself a raw chocolate cake for my birthday. Have a great weekend....glad you're doing well Lavendar.
It's Day Nine...I'm almost there, in the home stretch. I almost caved in today. But I meditated and got myself together. :) I will not stop so close to attaining 10 days on this water cleanse. I was told your really begin reaping benefits on Day 10 or after. To be quite honest with you, I don't really care much about this right now...I'm just ready to wrap this up!
Yesterday to help my hunger pangs, I made some treats that I can eat next week. Sunflower nut cheese and some pates. Just the aroma of the food I was preparing helped calm me down. I have a few things to pick up at the grocery today to make some more meals and treats. I did not experience this type of hunger when I was on those long MC's, I cannot fathom water fasting for 40 days. I think you have to be very, very disciplined and ready for that. I truly admire anyone who's accomplished this in the present day and age.
The salt water flush is doing absolutely nothing for me and I feel like I'm simply absorbing it into my body. I'm going to purchase some smooth move tea today as I feel like I'm holding waste in my colon. No, I never did purchase the enema bag. I have some kind of aversion that I need to get over in sticking stuff up my butt. :eek: I will use the senna tea for the remainder of my fast, which of course ends tomorrow. Yippee! And guys I think I'm done with the MC and water fasting. Going forward I'm just going to continue to eat raw foods to heal and cleanse and if I do fast it will be a green juice, green smoothie, coconut water or raw soup fast.
Have a great weekend all!
I'm done with my water fast. I was experiencing true hunger, stomach constantly growling etc. I had some cucumber juice and all is well.
I'm officially done.
Final results: lost 12 lbs, 1 1/2 inches off the thighs, 3 inches off the waist and 1/2 inch off the hips.
I'm happy with the results, I feel "spring cleaned" and look forward to eating. :D
Peace & thanks for sharing!
I think that's amazing...your water journey that is...I don't know if I could do it without my teas....Oh yeah, I wanted something and so allowed myself to have some juices it was a combo of mango/orange/guava (should have never went to the grocery store) and it was so tasty..but I must admit to having a slight tummy ache. But it was yummy...I'll keep up the cleanse (no more juices) until the 1st of May next week.
It's been 3 days that I've been "refeeding" as they call it in the fasting world. Doesn't that sound awful?!! hahhaa. Seriously, food is tasting so wonderful and I feel very light in my body. Particularly from my breast bone to my hip bone. A lot has been cleared and it's really hard to describe unless you've done this. It just feels tremendously good. I took a walk this morning, the air was clear, my lungs were wide open. I felt my body singing, the oxygen traveling very easily to every cell of my body. No struggle and no delay. This is what's all about.
As far as my breaking the fast plan, I juiced on Saturday and Sunday. Mostly green juices, but squeezed in some orange and grapefruit juice which tasted like heaven. Last night I broke open a tomato and the flavor just exploded in my mouth. I don't think I've ever really tasted a fresh, organic tomato. I've eaten one, but I haven't really tasted the energy of this fruit. mmmm.
I did go a little nuts with the nuts Sunday afternoon and immediately stopped when I got a sharp pain in my stomach. I felt overstuffed and thinking back this is the way I used to eat in the good old days. Until I felt stuffed, now it's just an extremely uncomfortable feeling and as we all know doesn't signal that we had a good meal. It means we stuffed ourselves to the gills unnecessarily. I've been drinking kombucha tea, taking probiotics and eating digestion friendly foods. Cucumber-Celery-Ginger juice is one of my favorites right now.
As far as physical results, I lost a total of 6 inches and I think at least 10 lbs.
Waist Start = 31.5"
Waist End = 29"
Hips Start = 36.5"
Hips End = 35"
Thighs Start = 21"
Thighs End = 20"
With regard to my knee, the results are amazing. I dropped my camera the other day and my immediate reaction was to jump really high, up and down in the air in total frustration and shock. After I stopped jumping up and down I stopped cold in my tracks, realizing what I was doing! I haven't been able to "jump" for 3 years. It was a spontaneous reaction. And I cried huge tears. I can jump! Next I'll be able to run again! This one of my high goals and then I'll walk into my orthopedic surgeon's office and blow his mind. :D
My gait and walking stride is smoother and I feel like my body has released an even deeper layer of toxins. I'm flying high on good feelings and feeling fit in my body for the first time in many months.
I dropped the camera when I was taking photos of the new measurements, maybe I'll get around to posting them at some point. Or I'll just wait until a year passes. I'm getting kind of tired of taking pictures of myself. :p hahaaa.
Happy fasting all!
Thanks Charika! I still feel good, but I believe I'm still detoxifying my system. I've been pretty tired this week. Congratulations on where you are on the MC. That's great. I haven't checked into that thread lately...if you're still going strong, best wishes. I bet you can't wait to eat. ;)
The sunflower seed cheese recipe is from Matt Amsden's Rawvolution book. And actually I wasn't able to finish it because after water fasting I discovered I'm extremely sensitive to nama shoya. I was itching like crazy and got a very bad headache after having some of the nut cheese. It was aslo extremely salty to me. So I'm chucking the nama shoya and will have to find a recipe substitute or use much less of it.
I generally don't like to post recipes from uncook books on forums, but here it is:
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup nama shoyu
4 to 5 garlic cloves
2 3/4 cups raw sunflower seeds (finely grinded)
combine all ingredients in blender, adding seeds last
Hey Oai, I don't know about this, but you might find this link helpful for planning a water fast in the future. I learned quite a lot and was able to determine the best approach for myself. Dr Herbert Shelton was a pioneer in fasting/raw foods/natural health in the early 1900's. He was persecuted like the rest of 'em who went against the prevailing medical practices of the time. If you read his findings, it's pretty incredible that we're just beginning to embrace some of the things he discovered 100 years ago...especially where raw foods are concerned. Technology is moving fast, but human beings in my opinion are still a little "slow" when it comes to nutrition and health, but we're getting better. lol. Seriously though, this is a great resource for understanding more about water fasting specifically.
It's been a week since I stopped water fasting and I'm feeling good overall. I've been drinking a lot of Kombucha tea however, which I think is causing me to detox. I've been pretty tired and waking up with headaches which I'm not used to anymore! Funny when you're eating very well and you start experiencing the things you used to think were normal. For example, crusty eyes in the morning, headache, grogginess upon waking, aching fill in the blank. So I've been having a few of those symptoms and I think I'm going to lay off the kombucha for awhile. My intent was to introduce a huge amount of digestive enzymes back into my intestines. This is happening and my movements are fine, but the detox is still pretty intense.
I've overdone it a couple of days with eating. It's interesting because 2-3 post fast, I was very much okay drinking plenty of fluids, juices and smoothies. A couple of days ago, I flashed back to when I was water fasting and treated myself to raw goodies all day long. I had 4 avocados yesterday and just kept eating. The wonderful thing about raw is when you do this, you're still providing yourself with the highest nutrition. But on the flipside I'm going to put this in check as it's a fine line between my old emotional eating habits vs. eating when I'm hungry. I thought I was hungry when I was eating a lot yesterday, but I'm not so sure. Today I plan to just drink green smoothies as I bought a lot of produce this week. Lots of spinach and kale as my iron feels low.
As far as the physical weight, I'm back up an inch in the waist which I think has more to do with bloat from eating a lot than gaining weight. The rest of the measurements remain the same. My knee has been stiff again, but I think it's because the kombucha is going to town clearing my joints and ironically I haven't been drinking water to flush the toxins. I will begin doing this right now. I was really loving the flexibility and ease of movement I was feeling in my entire body while I was water fasting.
I mentioned above I'm probably done with fasting, but I don't think so. I will probably water fast again...the benefits were high for me and I can definately tell the difference in how my bodily systems and organs are functioning. My lungs are extremely clear. I'll note that I live in Sacramento, currently...the pollen capital of the world or one of them. They say this is the worst pollen season in history. Yet I'm experiencing zero allergic reactions or symptoms. My breathing is free and easy even when I see the pollen floating around in the air. I believe this is a combination of my raw food diet and the recent water fasting healing that took place in my body.
Well this wraps up my post water fast updateing. I look forward to continuing to enjoy the fruits and vegetables of the earth. Everything tastes so good and I feel that my body is absorbing nutrients on a much higher level.
Thanks for listening and best wishes with your own health goals. May you reach them all and then some!
Love, Peace & Blessings,
Crystal
Two weeks after I finished my water fast I gotta tell ya I feel absolutely great! Last week I had some lingering detox, probably because I was drinking kombucha tea every day. I was very tired, waking up tired and with a headache - evidence there were lingering toxins swimming around in my bloodstream. When I eased back on the kombucha tea I felt better. I stopped drinking it altogether actually and may pick it up again at a later time. I think my body needed some time to rejuvenate without having more detox triggered are my thoughts in hindsight.
My eliminations are even more plentiful and efficient. Trying to find words that aren't giving up too much info - haha. But every time I'm in the bathroom, I'm eliminating. When I eat and after I drink water or juices, the next step is usually...you know what. Yesterday it was 7 times! I'm drinking 2-3 green smoothies a day, I made a batch of flax crackers this week and I have fruit every once in awhile. My colon is super clean and working better than it ever has in my life, other than maybe when I was a small child. But probably even better than that considering I grew up in the early years on a SAD diet.
I also have to say as a woman, I know my hormones have really healed and my reproductive system also. This is a warning for any men who are reading this: heads up, moon cycle talk. ;)
My recent cycle was effortless and no clotting or cramping. Since I've been raw the clotting is non-existent, but I still would get mild PMS, crampy feelings before my cycle started. This week, on the first day of my period, I felt so grounded and light in my womb. I had even forgotten it was time for it to start - I had no symptoms whatsoever and totally forgot about it. To describe how I was feeling on the day I started my cycle, I would say I was vibrating in pure peace and woke up really happy. I've NEVER experienced this since I started menstruating. It was like just being connected to everything on the planet and feeling creative and estatic. I had a huge amount of energy also on that day. I believe this is how we're supposed to experience our monthly cycle, in pure joy. With our lifestyle and sometimes poor diet choices which cause imbalances with hormones...well I think this really impacts a young woman even before she starts menstruating. Maybe you never really know what this feels like unless you're fortunate to already be taking good care of yourself and are blessed with a conscious upbringing. I always associated periods with pain and misery, but it's the exact opposite when you begin healing your body on a very deep level. I thought it was just me feeling good on the day my period started, but then my cycle started later in the evening and I put 2 and 2 together. It was just...Wow. It's powerful, heavy, spiritual, divine feminine, goddess inspiring stuff and it's real.
Fasting and eating raw foods has worked wonders for me. Happy to share my progress for anyone who's considering taking this path and to offer encouragement as others have done for me.
I'm still learning and growing daily. Wishing you well on your journey.
Peace & Blessings,
Crystal
No, I don't think it would be wise for me to do this afterall. I spent just about the whole day here reading post after post all over RFT and MiahTay and some others commented that it would be safer to jump into raw as fasting is extremely difficult for anyone who has trouble with binge eating - like me. I guess I'd be wise up and just follow Alissa's book which is what I did last summer. And I know I just have to keep it simple.
Sue.
