personally I don't believe in forcing yourself to do anything.
What I wonder is why it doesn't appeal to you? What are you eating and how are you preparing it? Maybe try some new recipes or other ingredients? There are SO many choices when eating raw... it's SO much more than just "salads".
I've just started my raw journey so it will be very interesting to read what more experienced raw fooders think about this.

I am not really all that experienced myself but what I have noticed with me is that if I try and eat raw food which isn't appealing to me then it sometimes does make me want to vomit, but I have never experienced this with ALL raw food at once. How long have you been eating raw for? Perhaps it is a detox symptom of some kind? What about eating an apple, an orange or mango etc? I have found fruit to be the best thing to eat when most other foods don't sound too appealing. Which cooked foods is it that you are craving the most? When I get a strong craving for something that is cooked I try to look at why I would be having the craving and what is in the food which is cooked that my body is calling for, then I find something raw that is equivalent. An example for me would be if I am really craving bread I will eat some sprouted grains and this immediately stops my craving for bread. I think it's better to eat raw but also you have to listen to the wisdom of your body. I know when I have felt off in the past and I try to eat some cooked food I always end up regretting it later but everyone is different so I guess you just have to find out for yourself. So hang in there if ya can but if not, any kind of food is better than no food (unless you're doing a fast). Good luck and I really hope you start to feel better! ;)

Wow marigold,
I thought that you were beginning to find your "place" in raw foods...that you had found recipes and foods that you were really enjoying.
I know you're probably looking for what the raw food experts such as Alissa would advise, but if it were me, I'd probably just tell you that you have to do whatever you think is best. I mean, if eating raw makes you vomit, then you can't force yourself to eat it. Go on ahead and eat whatever makes you feel good. I mean, I figure your tastes, etc. have been very polluted by cooked foods and that your body only craves those things.
But perhaps you can just make sure that whatever cooked foods you eat, they are the BEST instead of just gorging on crappy junk foods and incorporate as much raw (the things you DID enjoy while being raw) as you can...as much as you can tolerate. Perhaps as time progresses, your body will send off signals that you need to really give raw a second chance...who knows?
I realize that as ideal as it seems, not everyone will be able to make raw eating a lifestyle for them. This is why I don't go around "preaching" the message of raw...I just try to live it to the best of my ability and share it with whomever is willing to listen. But I don't down folks for what they choose to eat because not everyone is going to be able to receive it (the message of how raw is good/better for them), let alone follow it!
So, do what you have to do Marigold...maybe this is just a temporary phase in your life and one day you'll end up desiring to give it a try once again and it'll be better for you the next time around. But again, as you're eating cooked, try and make the most of it by making the best choices you possibly can. Don't go off into microwaved prepackaged foods, for example.
Best wishes to you and your health!

was curious i guess what we would be told by someone who thinks raw is so wonderful..
i have had this in the past when i was vegan i remember going off raw stuff - and my then parner too - always remember her saying oh i cant so much as look at a piece of raw veg..we had both been eating high raw then too..
guess the right on answer would be to fast ?
i hve been really ill with M.E last week - like cant get across the room bad so i am definately inspired to be as all raw as poss...

Marigold,
Sorry to hear about you not feeling well! It sounds to me like you've just gotten bored with eating the same things over and over. I remember in previous posts you saying that most raw recipes don't appeal to you taste-wise.
If you DO, indeed, want to be/stay raw, then a fast probably is a good suggestion for you at this time...I guess...I'm no expert by any means!
And as Alissa stated in the "How to stay raw" thread, find the foods you DO love and can eat and make/eat them as much as you need to in order to be happy. I can relate to being tired of eating the same thing over and over, though. It was like that for my family and me when we were eating cooked. The same few meals were rotated every single week! But that's pretty much all we liked, so that's what we ate.
I guess that's why it won't really be a problem for me now to rotate the few raw dishes I DO like. Like you, I don't like them all...but I probably like a FEW more than you do! ;)
Hang in there Marigold...you'll be okay. Even eating your steamed veggies and whatever raw you can tolerate, you'll eventually end up where you want to be in your heart. But yes, if you can, try fasting. I hope you feel better soon!!

In all the studys I have done it always says that the more toxic you are the more you are repulsed at eating the good foods. I have found this to be true with myself. But I also believe that you have to do what you think is best for yourself.
I do find that if I start drinking more fresh lemon water during the day that my body clear out better and I can eat more raw and really like the way I feel. Good luck to you in what ever you do with your eating. I don't think that anyone here would want you and your partner to feel sick. ;)

I could be off here, but it sounds to me like juice fast time. You are eating all the right things but your body may have years of toxicity built up in it. If you like go to www.juicefasting.org and you will get alot of great information on the process. It has certainly changed my life. I just finished a 30 day juice fast and I am telling you, I could have gone longer. It was great! I didn't lose any weight that I didn't need to lose. I was a pretty solid 207lbs before the fast, after 30 days I was 191lbs. Since the fast has ended (about 30 days ago), I have held steady at 191lbs. I think it would help you to look into that.
Peace.
