Hi There,
I am wondering what kind of dehydrator people recommend. My old school Ronco Dehydrator has no temperature adjustment so it is no good for making raw foods.
Thanks, Vanessa :)

Hi Vanessa,
If you go up to the banana and do a search ~ put in dehydrator or Excalibur or any other type you can think of, you'll find your answers.
Welcome!

Saw you found one. Excellent! Also, there's one called something Harvest which a few folk use. You might wish to look that one up.

Hi,
I say, that by far the best is the 9 tray Excalibur, they also make a 5 tray, but for only $20 less, and they also make a baby 4 tray, which is tiny.
The American Harvest is sold at Walmart for about $40 or so, but there are challenges with having to move the trays up and down, however many people here have it and say it's great.
The Ex 9 tray costs about $200 on Alissa's site.

I did a search, as suggested but didn't really get any answer there...just other posts with the word dehydrator in them somewhere...including recipes. I am wondering if the Walmart one has a temp adjustment. I looked at one online but it didn't say that it has an adjustment nob however people here use it. my problem with teh Ronco that I have is that I have no idea how hot it gets...
Thanks for the advice and feedback so far! :)

That's what I got was the Nesco American Harvest FD-60 here is a pic
http://www.harvestessentials.com/nesnexfd.html It was $40 at Walmart and the temp adjustment is right on top and easy to read. I am new to dehydrating but so far so good :)

I have the Excalibur 9 try and love it. I have the newest which cost a little more but it has a timer on it and a large temp range. I found that the timer allows me to dehydrate at night and I don't have to worry about getting up to turn it off or having things get to dry. In fact I use mine so much right now that I am thinking about getting another 9 tray so I can do more things at the same time. (I feed a large family and a daily lunch group of 5 people)

The Ex 9 tray costs about $200 on Alissa's site.
Or, a google search can find others who toss in some teflex sheets for about the same price.

I have an L'Equip and I'm very happy with it.
It has 5 trays, with teflex sheets. and a temperature
control. I paid $129.95.

The reason I suggested Alissa's sight for the dehydrator, is
1. This is her board
2. she provides this board FREE to us all
3. She doesn't ask us for anything
4. I think if we are going to purchase something from anyone, it should be her
5. She offers the best appliances available
that was the reason, I suggested you purchase one from her, instead of somewhere else. The Wallmart, American Harvest has a temp control.

I returned my American Harvest from Wal Mart today because I was silly and didn't check to see if it had a timer or a temp gauge. I know I can buy a timer from Canadian Tire and put it on but I also wasn't crazy about the layout of it either...I like that the Excalibur has solid flat, rectangular trays...the American Harvest has circular ones with a large hole in the middle...nope..I'll pay the extra I think and go for the newest Excalibur 5 tray. I have heard also that many do like the American Harvest...which is great:>
