Ok, I have all of 2 right now. I am new to raw.
I am finding that when I ask raw folks for recipes or ideas they often say, "Oh, that is in so and so's book!"
Sounds like I have a list to make! I just don't have the $$ to do it all at once. I have spent $300 on books and products to start (dehydrator and madoline coming today!!!!) this month and so it could be several months to really get everything I would like to get.
What are your top 5 recipe books that you use all the time????
I am going to assume that Alissa's is #1, so give me your next 4!
Thanks,
Dawn

Alissa's really is number 1. The book is thorough and the recipes are easy to fancy with a great variety.
Any Phyo's, Rawvolution (great pictures in Rawvolution).
Good luck!

Yes. It's okay. Not one of my favorites...
With any (most) of these - check them out of the library before you buy them...

I have checked out all that they had. I think it was all of 5. I know about inter-library loans, but the fees are very steep if it is even one day late and I must admit I am not always timely with the library books I get! I think it would be cheaper to buy them if I have to inter-library loan them.
Juliano's book is in the system locally and I have looked at it, but that was before I really went raw and it all seemed so complicated. I might should check it out again and really try it this time.

I LOVE books with LOTS of pictures! It really helps to motivate me! Like Juliano's and Matt A's are my top two for the pictures because they have a lot of pictures relative to the recipes. I like Alissa's as it has a bunch of pictures, too

love love alissa'a book and what my friends at raw vegan source call the "pretty People Book"- Sarma's recipes to get the glow. The Grawnola is AWESOME (sub agave/honey for the maple syrup).

I haven't, but I've eaten at her cafe a few times and her food is DELICIOUS! She's super nice too! I saw her both times I went :)

I have at least 26 books. I love books (I work at a library) and the one I use the most is Alissa'a. I have her dvd (which is very well done). I also have the Raw Gourmet 3 part dvd set. I am sure it was good but I can't remember what is on it. Time to watch them all again.
I enjoy looking at Raw Food Real World and the receipe for tacos, although time consuming, is great. I only make them once in a while, but they are goooood.
My all time favorites receipes, though, are Alissa's Indian spinach dip and her fudge balls. These are weekly for me. I really like the pesto stuffed mushrooms too.
The rest of the time I pick things here and there from other books. I also love to experiment and create my own.
As said before, the Juliano's book is pretty, but very challenging receipes. I ate at his resturant once. Very pricey, but good. One day when I have nothing to do I am going to try some of his receipes.
I hope this helps,
Hugs,
Terri

Alissa's of course. . .
And then Raw Food Real World and Rawvolution
I found Juliano's book to be more complicated than I could deal with and a bunch of stuff I never heard of/couldn't find.
Definitely try your library - you'd be surprised what they have under 'live food' or 'raw'. It's a good way to check out the books and try a few recipes before you buy.
Enjoy!

I have and love Alissa's book. It's more than a cook book. It has so much info and inspiration. I also have and enjoy Ani Phyo's book. I find tons of recipes on line. Here, and at other sites. Just do a web search for raw recipes, or for a specific raw dish. The ones on line often have comments by people who have already made them. I also love the ebook by our own wonderful Mattye (AKA FrugalRaw).

I've made a few of Alissa's recipes and really liked them. The last one was for her chocolate chip cookies. Mmm...especially when still warm from the dehydrator. I should have made double the amount I did!
Other books I use the most are:
1. Raw Food Made Easy by Jennifer Cornbleet. Her recipes only require a blender and a food processor, so are very quick to make. Her recipes are very tasty, and use ingredients that are generally easy to find.
2. RAWvolution by Matt Amsden. A little more complicated, but a very nice format, plus he has coloured pictures to show you how the recipe is supposed to look.
3. The Raw 50 by Carol Alt. The recipes in this book come from a variety of chefs. You have 10 recipes each for: breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks, and drinks.

Read the Get the Glow book by Sarma which was very glamorous, but the recipes seemed a little complicated for my simple ways! I'm saving up for Rawvolution by Matt Amsden (love the photos) and I borrowed Alissa's book and dvd from my sister. :)

Given, I am new and have not checked out all the other books listed, besides Alissa's, of course, I have julainno's RAW, and I love it. The pics are fabulous. I made his "real toast" and it was super.
What a great thread! I am excitedly trying to type and wrtie down names!

Has anyone gotten Everyday Raw by M. Kenney? Any thoughts?

I have three that I purchased in this order and use all of the time. After perusing other uncook books I've noticed a lot of the recipes mirror each other, although there are some differences. I think I'll just stick with these for now and tweak recipes myself, rather than stockpiling lots of books. I love books though, but I'm in the minimalization stage of my life. Maybe too much info...haha...:D
I am Grateful: Recipes & LifeStyle of Cafe Gratitude
(Terces Englehart with Orchid)
RAWvolution
(Matt Amsden)
Living on Live Food
(Alissa Cohen)
I love the photos in all of the books and the recipes are easy to make, especially Alissa's & Matt Amsden's. I love his range of 1-2-3 to signify easy to more complicated recipes.
I've been to Juliano's and the food is AMAZING, but there's no way I'd be able to use his book. I hope he's creating a more user friendly version. But who knows maybe in five years I will have mastered uncooking and will able to use his.
