I am 38 years old. I attended a raw foods class about a month ago and have been earing two raw meals a day plus snacks. Leaving one meal a day for mixed food because my husband is not 100% sure that eating raw is not going to be the same thing as dieting for me. I am attempting recovery from bulimia and am entering in to the raw food lifestyle as a means of overcoming this eating disorder. I begin a six week class this Tuesday with the same teacher that taught the first raw class that I attended. Hopefully this will guide me in the direction of being 100% raw in the near future. This is my first visit to this site and am looking forward to getting to know some of you soon!

You'll be so glad you found this site! It's full of fun, informative & caring people!
I just found it myself about a month ago and I am new to all this as well. I wish there was a class in my area so I could meet others that like this way of eating. Good luck to you. I hope you get healthy!

welcome! there are many of us recovery from EDs here. I have found that I no longer look at food as punishment or reward, or something I use to hurt myself or go numb with. Raw has given me victory over a 28 year battle with food. I wish you all the success!

Thank you for the warm welcomes. What I really need to do is to feel more comfortable with my food choices and not beat myself up when I make the wrong choices. It is not going to be an easy road but I am hoping that raw food will be path of healing for me.

Good luck and Welcome Trisha jean!
I think Alissa Cohen story is inspirational, for a good read. Whenever i have eaten foods I know I feel 'less than' about, I am reminded that it was a process for Alissa too. Even long term raw foodisyts have thier stuff. The general idea is to be good to yourself..just in case you forget!: )

Welcome.....hope you will be able to read Alissa's Book and watch her DVD with your husband, this way you'll both understand what the rawfood lifestyle is all about. Where your overcoming an ed, it would be good for your husband to really be involved....enjoy the book and DVD together, they really are worth it, both time and money. If anything, you'll want to include more fruits and veggies to your diet...just like you already are.
