About Neti Pots

I don't suffer from nasal congestion, but I do get chronic ear congestion, which has improved vastly on its own, but still has a way to go.

Seeing how the ear and nose are connected...
do neti pots assist with clearing the ears of debris??? (via the nasal passage of course.)

any comments about or personal experiences with using neti pots would be appreciated. thanks!

I use one regularly. I had a nasty sinus infection that I got January. The day I used it - I felt INSTANT relief. Ears included! I highly, highly recommend it.
Recipe:
1/2 tsp each of baking soda and sea salt to 2 cups of warm water.
I use it every morning...instant clearing.
Folks I've turned on to the neti pot recommend it too. Folks that have suffered allergies, nasal problems, etc. (ears included).

I use mine when I have ear or sinus problems. Which *knock wood* I haven't had much of since I stopped eating the dairy.

I have used my neti pot for my nose and it helped. (giving up dairy helped the most) but I have noticed I been waking up with a dry or blocked nostril lately for some reason (no no dairy at all!). I should get using the neti pot again!

So, people are noticing that it helps the ears too? I didn't really notice it when I was using it but honestly I wasn't really checking on that.

But I could really use something to cleanse out the ears. I wear hearing aids so my ears don't always get to breathe and sometimes I can tell I have some extra wax in here too but I don't have health insurance right now so I can't go to an audiologist or ENT to have them remove it (I used to have an audiologist and they would check for extra wax everytime and I went and clean it out).

I am going to do a neti pot treatment tonight and see if my ears feel any cleaner.

VeganforLife: for your mixture recipe, did you just use that in the neti pot and through the nose? Or did you put some drops in your ears too?

I have only done the neti pot with the salt water and not baking soda. What does the baking soda do?

When talking about good for ears please explain further as I can't imagine putting this in my ears, but I do have a neti pot still brand new for years. My ears seem to clog up and of course then in a lecture it tends to lose some of the message. I tend to need things a little louder so maybe it's time for an ear job. Can you please share more? Do I need someone to help if I need do the neti in the ears? I assume the recipe is good in my ears or in my nose?

So you use this as a "wash" and instead of your face being washed with soap or water, your nose or ears get washed with the neti in either respective area then? Thanks. Just so new at it that these may sound like silly questions, but I won't learn unless I ask. Thanks.

What does the baking soda do in your mixture you posted above? I have normally just used the sea salt with warm water when doing my neti pot routinue.

Does the baking soda do something specific?

I heard that baking soda might be a possible treatment for candida internally.
