You may notice my post's have risen today!!! I am preparing for my 30 day challenge and all of the sudden feel the need to "nest" my kitchen and get it ready!!!

Ok, about blenders....I see is the green smoothie recipes to use a blender...I do not have a high end blender...would my regular blender work just as well? I mean when I say regular...it a simple...average blender...we make tons of fruit smoothies...

I imagine if it can handle ice and such it can handle the leafy veggies too right?

thanks for being patient with me y'all!

BeadedGraces -- I have a VitaMix, but I used a regular blender for some time prior to my purchase of the VM. The big difference I have found is this -- I can just toss a whole tomato or big pieces of greens in the VM. In the regular blender, I found that I needed to chop them up some first. If you do that, you should be good to go. :)

Good luck on your challenge!

I use a regular blender (Magic Bullet). I blend my greens and liquid (water or nut milk) together first and then add fruit and blend again. There are no pieces of leaves in your smoothie this way. Just let the blender run a good while. Works real nice.

Depends on your actual blender. I have a Krups ($149) which does a splendid job of making things relatively smooth. NOTHING even close to a VitaMix, of course, but adequate. Then I used a low-end Oster in a rental unit and it seemed to blend a green smoothie okay by visual (I blended the daylights out of it get there)....but when I drank it all I could thinks was mmmm, CHEW-Y. It was half drinking, half chewing. That turned me off pretty bad, I have to tell you! If that was my only experience with a "green smoothie" I would not have understood what all the fuss was about!

Now that I've had a TASTE of what comes out of a VitaMix....I can't wait to get one!! I'm pining for one. I think it will be top on my wish list for my birthday this year. :D
