After years of struggling with all the conflicting info on what's the best diet, I almost decided to try the low-carb, eat all the meat you want, and supposedly lose tons of weight thing. But for me, I know that it has to be more than just about losing weight. I want to heal.

In my heart, I know that transitioning into a non-animal eating lifestyle is the way that humans are evolving towards, so I just could not reconcile a diet, that "may" offer weight loss, but at the expense of animals, the planet, and my spirit.

I am reading a book called Transition to Vegetarianism. I am also reading The World Peace Diet. These are not raw food diet books, but books on vegetarianism. For me, I will find a ratio of vegetarian/raw foods, that works for me at this time. Gradually, becoming more raw as I go. The book Transition to Veg. talks about the mental and spiritual aspects of changing ones diet to something that is not the social norm. Being prepared to deal with that, internally, and externally is important.

I am not in this for quick fixes. They dont work. I really am looking for healing. I was feeling low today, and happened upon this site. It feels like I am heading in the right direction.

Peace, luv & Light!

Hi there! Welcome! Well, you really, really are headed in the right direction for healing - that's for sure...read my testimony. I healed myself of life-long (I'm 54) migraines and a non-functioning thyroid - in less then a year!!!

So yes, your happening upon this site is part of The Plan for you...

Enjoy!

Welcome. :) This is the place to be! I'm still pretty new this time around, but we're happy with what's happening so far. We aren't totally raw yet, but we are vegetarian - nearly vegan; we do use raw honey, etc. But, just the little changes we have already made are very encouraging. You will find lots of support, tips, encouragement here. Bless you and welcome. Darlene

Hello Starfire, thanks for your response. I am so excited about this Raw lifestyle, and already am eating a significant portion of raw foods. I will go at my own pace, but trust me--its taken many failed attempts at "jumping in" to this or that unknowingly, ill prepared, and failing miserably time and time again, that has allowed me to be very gentle with myself this time around...very gentle with my own progress and process.
Since
this is about healing, and not dieting, it's more than about what I put into my mouth, as huge and important as that may be, but the totality of my being is requiring patience, gentleness, and understanding as I go through this transition. It is not my fault that I grew up in a society that does not eat OR live well. But it is my responsibility to aim to do better.
I
pray for everyone on their own individual journeys, that they practice this same loving-kindness to themselves during this healing process.

Peace, luv & light!
