Ok I'm a little disappointed!!!!! I've belonged to a few other sites (diabetic) and there was lots of feedback to read. It really helps me to read how other people are doing and what's helped them. I need to relate to help me stick to this . I'm not losing weight as I thought I would. I feel much better. and am sure I've lost a few inches and my numbers are better (diabetes, blood pressure ) Yesterday I had a terrific day. My daughter came down , we did each others hair (we're both hairstylists) I made green smoothies for breakfast. She really didn't like the texture. I thought it was terrific. But she drank it anyway ! For lunch I made a large salad and I put black beans in it that I soaked yesterday. Not much as she hates any kind of bean , I told her to just try it as it is a softer bean. she doesn't like the skins , Anyway she tried it and loved it. She even said she would make that herself. She's overweight and now ready to try and loose some weight. She had gestational diabetes and got Strep B. had to take lots of penicillan , since then she's had many problems and the baby has had a terrible problem with tummy issues and throwing up lots. She tried to breastfeed for 2 weeks. Her milk dried up (flat nipples) and Jackson was happy. so she gave him formula. that started a host of problems. Enough gabbling for now. Just had to vent. Suzy

Hi Suzy,
I'm here, for what it's worth. It sounds like you are another caring Mum who is herself trying to set a good example. I want you to know that I care about how you are feeling. I have about 60 lbs I'd like to get rid of. I also have high BP. But I have been mostly RAW for 1 week (trying again) and I feel wonderful. The pain in the bottom of my feet (upon arising) is getting less. I walked every day. I feel very different. Blood pressure is down. (It's in my Blog). I only weigh myself once a week for now. So Monday I weigh myself. My energy levels have gone way up. This works! Keep on trying and be sure I will "talk" to you.
Agape,
Sue.

Vivid Lily - We are here and we do respond when you post in the usual areas and blog. This particular part of the forum is for introducing yourself. Not everyone comes here. If you start a blog, you get more personalized feedback sometimes than you do in the main posting area, "Raw and Living Food Discussion."

I come on here everyday just about and look for newcomers and look to see if there is anything I can/need to answer for folks. There are many others who are also regulars.

As for weight loss, I have lost 77.9 pounds since last June. I've been raw since 8/1...100% most days, with my share of bumps in the road in-between. How long have you been raw and to what degree? What does a day typically look like for you? I'm glad you're seeing the health benefits. :D

Thanks guys!!! I'll start a blog went I get a chance. Maybe Monday as today I'm busy doing hair (hairstylist ) all day. Tomorrow cooking (yes) having company for dinner after my meeting. Out of towners. I will make some raw for me and anyone else that wants to partake. Plus my husband still thinks that giving them a big juicy steak is showing love and hospitality. I'll make a big salad and maybe some guacamole for appetizer and a raw dessert. I'm doing good - I've only eaten something cooked 1 time in the last 2 weeks. Pasta Whole Wheat - mushrooms. didn't have very much. but was mad at myself for having it. And the worst part was I felt terrible after having it. heavy feeling. Yesterday was smoothie for breakfast , handful of nuts, snack, lunch was salad. 2 dates for snack. salad for dinner. and a smoothie later. = Maybe I should be drinking more smoothies. I've been trying to drink more water. I forget. Today so far just ground flax seed - cinnamon, 1 tsp. cinnamon with coconut, 3 pecans sprinkled. herb tea. Bye for now =appt.s here. Suzy

Yeah, we really are here....what's this with soaking black beans....do they digest well? I love black beans but haven't eaten them anyother way but cooked. Sooooo...all you do is soak them. By the way, maybe your not having weight drop off left and right but it sounds like your health is improving....that's worth more than gold.

As Frugal Raw said, if you're only looking in the "Who Are You" section, you'll be disappointed. This is a HUGE forum and lots of input.

There are many here who stop by on a daily basis and read the threads but may not have any comments. But we are here! It sounds to me like you daughter many have developed candida Alibicans from her antibiotic ingestion. A raw food lifestyle could help her get rid of this for good.

My daughter just went for an ultrasound. She's also having female problems. And thyroid issues. Maybe candida too!! I know if she would try raw foods she would do so much better. I'll keep trying. Bye for now Suzy:D

My daughter was diagnosed with Crohn's and IBD (Irrit. Bowel Disease). We are sure she had candida as the practioner believes tons of people have it. She's doing NAET treatments, which is allergy elimination and acupuncture for both problems. Her tests in Sept. diagnosed her via blood. Now in April she went back for blood work and she is NORMAL. She went from 34, which is bad to 12 which is normal. So your daughter may have candida. My husband went into a full blown candida mode taking antibiotics and so did my daughter who was on antibiotics close to a month while they were trying to figure out what was going on in her body.

I've been gone at a training all weekend so now it's early AM and just about ready to hop back into bed. Glad I saw your note and I read by "new posts" and don't look at the section.

Hi Vivid. I've been raw for two weeks and so far I have lost only 2.8 pounds, so I sympathize. My clothes feel loser though.

To keep the faith, it helps me to keep in mind the lists of chemicals that are on most food-like substances and how I am not eating those things. Also, the way I see things (and I may be alone in this view), any amount of change that is more toward raw and less toward pre-packaged, cleaverly-marketed processed meals, is a change for the better, even if that means (as in the case of my 2 year old son) simply a salad and fruit with every cooked meal in order to change more gradually.

I also spent years trying to do the Atkins diet and failing because I just cannot eat the quantities of meat required by that lifestyle. Eventually, it starts to gross one out. It is so liberating for me to not have to abide by the no fruit rules of Atkins! To eat oranges and drink once forbidden juice is like a return to Eden! But it is the keeping of this perspective that I find helps.

I wish you the best. Keep the faith.

A

So I had company last night.Fantastic time.Out of town friends.(7) Everyone loved my guaccamole.Husband made shrimp. Then steak (I was grossed out my it) starting to bug me to see that now. potatoes. and a big fabulous salad. At least a dozen different veggies in it. Key lime pie (Raw ) for dessert. Big hit. I told them next time they come hopefully it will be all raw. They all said that would be great. It's 3 a.m. maybe I can go back to sleep. Oh ya! I had just 1 oz. of red wine (dry) and it gave me a bad headache. I find now because I'm eating less, I'm more sensitive to wine. :D - They also brought dessert - M&M's blueberry something. I'm doing good - not even tempted to try it. Just stuck to all raw. Bye for now Suzy
