I have a 4 month old girl kitten and just got boy who is 10 wks old as her companion. Please can anyone give me some pointers as to how to introduce them in a positive manner for us all? I have them separated for now while they both get more acclimated, esp the boy because it's a new space for him. The girl has already been hissing at him and will hiss even when he's not around, esp if she smells him on me. I guess this is normal?
A concern I have, which may not be warranted, is that the girl may become even more jealous because I'm using the same room she was in when she first came, and I'm sure she considers this room to be solely hers. I put her toys in the small hall off of the this room so both of them could meet through a crack in the door and her litter box is in another room and she took to the new location of the litter box immediately.
The girl is feisty and the boy is extremely laid back as far as I can tell so far.
How do I introduce them when the boy is ready to explore more of the house? Do kittens that weren't brought home together usually end up getting along?
Thanks for any feedback.
