I discovered the Larabar. It says it is raw. I love them so much. I want to try to make them myself. All the bars only have a few ingredients. Has anyone made these before or any thing similiar. I am really new to raw and need some help. Right now I have a bunch of dates soaking in water and I was going to wiz them up in the food processor and add some apple, almonds and cinnamon. I was thinking I would just press the mixture into a pan and slice and eat. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks Kim

I think the key in making homemade Lara Bars is to not process the nuts and fruit/dates together. Process the nuts first and set aside in a bowl.
Then, process your dates (soaked dates MIGHT make it too wet...but then again, maybe not!) and fruit and spices.
Then, mix the sweet mixture in with the ground nuts by hand and press into a pan, refrigerate and then slice into bars, etc.
I made my husbands co-workers some raw treats yesterday and I did it this way instead of my usual way of processing everything altogether at once. The consistency was more "Lara Bar-ish" (though not completely DEAD-on, but close!) and not as gooey as they usually are when I just blend everything together!
