I am new to the boards. I have been done some of the mostly fruit eating and just couldn't sustain myself on it (actually, it was more out of boredom and needing more variety) for long without craving something that resembled foods I loved.

I moved to Charlotte from Los Angeles and feel that I really can't find much in the way of raw places to eat out (other than a traditional salad for $9 and since I want it raw it ends up with me asking the server to take out the cheese, cooked beans, chicken, etc...leaving me with a plate of lettuce!!!)

Jason's Deli has a decent salad bar and Earth Fare has some items.

Anyway, if you are in the Charlotte area, what have you found?

Welcome Dawn! I wish you the best of rawesome health!!

I live in East Tennessee, and the nearest vegan friendly place I've found is Asheville, NC, which is about 2 hours away from where you are. They have a number of vegan friendly restaurants and some do have a few raw dishes on their menus. There are also lots of cool ecclectic little shops that you can make it a day trip for.

Oh - and check this out - not the restarants, but scroll down to all of the wonderful markets your have in your area!!

I am SO jealous that you have Jason's Deli!!! I used to love their salad bar! Out here ther are no salad bars, except in steak houses, and very little of what they have available is raw OR vegan. YUK!! I have found only 1 restaurant out here that is not only vegan-friendly, they are raw-friendly and will modify the heck out of any salad I want!

Anyway, so glad you found us!

Thank you!

Unfortunately, most of the restaurants listed are vegetarian, but not raw. I really, really want to learn to make some Thai and Indian dishes RAW!

I am up for the challenge!

I do want to go to Tally's though and I haven't been. It is a bit further for me and I have stuck mostly with Earth Fare and Trader Joe's. But those places don't have everything, so maybe a little road trip (ok, only 20 miles) is in order!

Oh, and I love going up to Asheville. I haven't been in a while though.

I just got her book on Amazon and read it this past week. I am still trying to figure out where to get some things and I plan to order an Excalibur tonight. I have another dehydrator and tried it yesterday and it is absolutely not going to work!

Raw Indian is not as hard as one might think. I have created a number of raw Indian dishes and have them in my e-book. Those are: Malai Kofta, Saag Paneer, Matar Paneer, a riced pilaf, and a mango chutney.

I have not made (but want to at some point) the pakoras in Alissa's book - I forget who she said she got the recipe from, but it looks rawesome!!

One AMAZING Thai recipe "I've tried is in Raw Food Real World" They're veggie rolls that you make a "peanut sauce" for out of almonds. SOOOO good! I assemble mine differently - I leave the sauce as a dipper and put very little into the rolls as I am assembling them.

Thanks. Your ebook sounds great, I am just really over my limit with buying at this time.

I bought Alissa's book, a couple of other raw books, and a dehydrator and some nut bags. I have a few other items on my list but won't be getting those for a while.

It is on my list.

Update.....ok, I looked online....now I need to stop in....I had no idea that was there! Thanks!

Hmmm.....what is the Get Healthy resource center??? Can you purchase products there?

I went to Earth Fare yesterday and they do not have a lot of items for raw eaters that I really wanted to get. A woman in front of me in line said she hasn't found anywhere in Charlotte to buy some things either and orders online.

I would like to visit Shelby, but it isn't easy to go 65 miles with 3 very young children in tow.
