Hello, my name is Sarain and I'm a 27 year old single mom living in Vancouver B.C. I'm currently on day three of my first veggie juice fast and feeling..different..After the 10th day of this fast I plan on trying the raw foods diet and seeing how it affects me?

I was a vegan as a teenager but didn't do it right as I cut out ALL fats ( no healthy oils, avocato, nuts, or nut butters..) I ended up losing too much weight and my hair became dull and brittle. At 18 I fell in "love" with a man who cooked me pot roast one night, and it was all down hill from there as I blooned up to 240lbs. I'm down to 204lbs now, but my goal is 155 lbs.

One of my main reasons for doing this juice fast and then eating a raw diet is because I have a conditon called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrom ( PCOS) that is not 'cureable' however, I resently read a story on an other site about a woman with PCOS who had nothing but organic veggie juice for three weeks, and when she went back to the Dr. for an ultra sound/ blood work and there was NO trace of PCOS!!!.. The symptoms of PCOS are excess body and facial hair, acne, depression, balding on the head, diabetes, and infertility ( I some how concived my son naturally!) and a number of other symptoms.

So here I am compleatly changing my life around..I'm just out of an abusive relationship, living in a new apartment with my two year old son Gabriel, going back to finish my high school and then go on to get my degree in Midwifery or Nursing...And of course taking charge of my health!

I'm looking foward to meeting people here and giving and getting support and ideas!

Welcome Sarain!!! I wish you and your little ones the very best of rawesome health!!! While I have never been diagnosed with PCOS, I have had problems with whiskers all under my chin - raw and the juice fast I am currently is slowing that w-a-a-a-a-y down! Stick with it - I think we're onto something here!

I have PCOS, there is a thread I started on here you might want to check out. I have to run but I can post the link later.

I can tell you that My monthly cycle comes on time every month now before raw it was going every 45 to 2 months before a period also my facial hair has started coming in slower ummmm right before going raw I started having severe pain with the menstrual cycle but after going raw I don't have that pain anymore.

Welcome Sarain, All the best in your journey to health from your neighbour - I am in Abbotsford.

My dh & I are looking forward to healing that will come from being raw. We always thought that our bodies could heal, even though the docs said that we would just have to live with it, now we know how to make that a reality.
