in your raw diet do you feel as bad as I do???
Last night I had a piece of lemonade cake and I immediately felt terrible! I woke up this morning after a fitful nights sleep and I literally feel hung-over!! Is this a normal thing or am I just imagining this. Geez, this feeling alone may be just what I need to "just say no" the next time.
BTW, the cake was made with the following:
Betty crocker lemon cake mix (mixed with eggs and oil)
6oz of lemonade concentrate
1 cup powdered sugar
coolwhip
UGH!

Feel bad in what way? Mentally? Emotionally? Physically?
Sometimes, the mental/emotional guilt might make one feel physically "bad". Soooo, what to do? Create foods that you enjoy to assist in keeping from "cheating".... and, if you do "cheat"....don't beat yourself up over it as it's not going to make any difference.
Whatever the cause of your feeling poorly really doesn't matter if you don't wish to feel that way again you know what to do.
Before you ate the cake, you "knew" it wasn't what you wanted to do ~ (really). While eating the cake, you "knew" it wasn't want you wanted to do ~ (really). AFTER eating the cake and feeling so poorly you KNEW you had committed a "crime against wisdom". And you know what? It's no big deal! Each moment of our lives we have another chance to do what you wish....whatever that may be :)

Excellent answer Revvell!
I think one of the reasons so many of us fail at living a healthy life is because we let our bad days overshadow the benefits of all our good ones.
That is one of the promises I made to myself when I started this diet. If I found I couldn't go another moment without cooked food, I would make myself a big bowl of popcorn, with oil and salt, indulge, and then say craving satisfied and start back the next day raw. I actually did that my first day, but haven't had to use it since. But I know it's there if I need it. Guilt free.
We're human, we're not perfect, but instead of beating ourselves up over falling for temptations, we just need to say, okay, that was nice, but this is what I want in my life, so I'm going back to it. Whether it's exercise, diet, love, it doesn't matter. Somehow when we fall back once some impenterable barrier parks itself infront of us keeping us from returning to what we want. When in reality, we are using that one fall to excuse another so we don't have to reach for our goals and set ourselves up for struggle and a chance to fail. I'm speaking from my own experience here, and maybe to remind myself that I want to be healthy, and yeah, it won't be easy getting there and breaking all these old habits, but it's a journey worth the effort, and if it means I take a few wrong paths or dead ends along the way, so be it. There's plenty of direction markers to get back to where I want to be.

Yep, when I eat things that aren't good for my body, I feel physically bad too. I stopped mentally beating myself up, though...my body does a good enough job of that! Boy can the body kick some BUTT!

This is just my view, but I believe if you are going to eat something you like that is cooked, then enjoy each bite. Your body will digest it better if you are happy when you eat it anyways. This has something to do with the parasympathetic vs. the sympathetic nervous system. Yes, we are only human and life is meant to be enjoyed.

Yep, tried that one solarliving! Tried to tell myself, "Okay, if you DON'T think of this as "bad" and just enjoy it, then you won't feel bad!" And for a while, I thought it was working 'cause I was still feeling all good! I'm walkin' around thinking it's all good and saying, "YEAH...it was just mind thang, just a mind thang. As long as I don't feel bad eatin' it, I won't feel bad after eatin' it."
HUH! My body STILL gives me the beat-down. It may not happen soon after having eaten it, but later on, my body sneaks up on me with a sucka punch and then it's like, "Yeah, thought I forgot didn't ya...DIDN'T YA?!?" Then punches me right in the gut and then gives me an uppercut blow to da' head! And I'm standin' there lookin' like
LOL!! :D

I hear ya. It is all about how you feel. If it is pain then I think we naturally want to avoid what causes us pain, unless someone is a sadist. I suppose eating raw and then falling off the wagon will only confirm how much better one feels eating raw. I didn't feel bad or upset with myself last night for eating pizza, I mean what good does that do, but I did notice some physical disturbances. I thought it was interesting because I never noticed those things before, such as the phlegm. I used to be a smoker, so I probably passed it off like it was solely from the cigs. I just think beating oneself up, for whatever reason, is not a good thing. Personally I have spent too much of my life doing that.

Oh yeah...I agree with ya 100%! When my family and I would eat pizza, I'd enjoy every single bite and not think much of it. It's just the physical discomfort I face later on that makes me like, "You big knucklehead...when will you ever learn??!!"
But yeah, I stopped the mentally beating myself up a long time ago. It's not worth it and can sometimes be worse than the physical discomfort. One just needs to pick up themselves up, learn from it, and move on.

Thanks for the replies everyone :) . Just to clarify, I just felt physically ill from the cake I ate. I don't do the guilt thing, I have a dh and 3 dc that I have to cook for, so it's always around and it would be impossible to not have a nibble (or more) of their food once in a while, and when I do, I don't beat myself up over it. :D
But my body sure does ;)

I feel okay when I cheat with sushi. But cake has so many ingredients in it that I think would bother me--eggs, wheat, and especially sugar. I wouldn't be surprised if I felt ill after eating cake.
