I tried to make the chocolate covered cherry recipe and it turned out awful. It was really juicy and never really set up and my friends all were grossed out. Then I tried to make the toaster pop tarts and never got to the filling. The dehydrated crust was awful. It was not very sweet and it took forever to dehydrate then it was crumbly not foldable. Anyone have success with this recipe? I wonder if i am just doing something completely wrong? Maybe I am not getting consistency correct I don't know any suggestions? I am getting frustrated here. I want to make the just toast by Juliano and am afraid now.

Just to let you know, I've made the Just Toast 2-3 times. I've not liked it any of those times. Too hard on my teeth.

IF you want something for breads, seach here. There's a wonderful onion bread that's hard to mess up and someone also listed a whole bunch of other breads I've not personally made yet.

The onion bread is awesome. My husband enjoyed it also.

Yes, sometimes you DO end up wasting ingredients. That's why when I'm trying a recipe out for the first time ever, I almost ALWAYS either halve or quarter it! Had to learn that the hard way.

I mean, wasted ingredients are wasted ingredients, but I feel better wasting say for example, 1/4 c. of nuts than 1 c. of nuts on a recipe I don't like.

Just for the record, toaster pop-ups have a non-sweet crust. I used to buy strawberry Poptarts without the frosting (the one's with were TOO sweet for me) and the outer crust was plain...it's the filling that makes it! But I haven't tried the ones in the book yet. Maybe you should've tried to go on and finish it with the filling...may have made it better.

I agree with Rawkinlocs. Make 1/4 or 1/2 of the recipe, the first time. Revvell did not like Juliano's toast, but I liked it, and I have read that others liked it too.

Blessings.

....and so, like so many here do, without my telling you what I did that you didn't, what did you do that I didn't? :D
