Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone had had acne-clearing results with any organic or homemade skincare products?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, in fact:

witch hazel (liquid form, no alcohol added, water is fine)
tea tree essential oil
lemongrass essential oil
peppermint essential oil
eucalyptus essential oil

Put a few drops of each oil into a small amount of witch hazel, and rub the mixture into your face (careful to avoid the eyes!) at least twice daily. I gave this to my acne-prone roommate and she found it to be incredibly helpful.

Cool! Do you wash your face with something first or just splash your face with water? Where did you find this combination? Are there any particular brands of essential oils that you reccomend?

Actually, no. I've got numerous people telling me how great and "natural" their skincare lines are but I don't use anything but hot water and, if ever necessary, pure (unrefined) shea butter. That's it!

I've found what goes inside outweighs anything that I could possibly put on the outside.

I do agree with that Revvell. Dermatologists like to tell you that the food you eat doesn't affect acne but I don't believe that! They are trying to convince you that you need their help so of course they're going to tell you this.

Yep, you've got that right, and Alba's got the pics to prove it! Go check out her blog http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/blogs/viewblog.php?userid=5636&page=4&pp=10

Hi there,

I have occassional hormone reglated acne. I used to just suffer through at the mercy of my hormones, but now, at the first seeling or sight of an acne spot, I take tea tree oil and put it directly on. It usually prevents the spot from getting any worse and it heals back to normal from that point. Tea Tree Oil is the stuff.

So true! I still had the occasional pimple pre raw and always it showed up in the most insane spot on my face. Middle of my chin (nice Witch look - not that there's anything wrong with witches - some of my best friends are witches), or (and I loved this) in the middle of my forehead so I looked like a Cyclop (not that there's anything wrong with cyclops - some of my best witches friends are cyclops).

But having gone 100% raw and consuming massive amounts of green smoothies and water and working out - I've not had any problems.

You figure. Our skin is our biggest organ and like Revvell says, what goes in - surely shows on the outside...

Oh yeah, another question: Is alcohol really that bad for your skin?

Thank you very much Iamacranberry. I didn't buy all the oils but I did buy AuraCacia organic tea tree oil (I keep hearing over and over about how great it is for acne). I also bought Thayer's Alcohol-free Rose Petal Witch Hazel.

So true about taking care of the inside too.

A clear colon = clear skin.

When I drink straight cucumber juice for a week or so, it always does wonders for my skin. Instant beautifier.

Thanks for the tip, Raw Heaven. Will try it.
