yesterday I weighed 140.0, this morning I was 140.2. I barely had any juice yesterday and stuck mainly to water and unsweetened tea. Today is day 6. Yesterday I had approx. 20 oz of watered down OJ, along with 40 oz of water and 20 oz of tea. Perhaps I should have drank more water? How can I retain water without having any salt?

Our bodies are amazing machines that I feel sometimes our minds should not question how they are performing.
Okay, here's the deal. Are you working out? If yes, muscle weighs more then fat. Is is that TOM? What time did you weigh yourself. There are so many variables that factor in to one's fluctuating weight. That is ONLY 2/10ths of a pound, right? That's like nothing.
Is that ALL you consumed yesterday? Just the liquid? If yes, your body is gonna retain ANYTHING, thinking it is starving. If not, consider what you ate...let me add too that one MUST drink enough water during the day, even if your MIND is thinking that you are retaining water. Water is a must! It helps flush toxins out and helps tremendously for one to lose weight.
I'll say it once again - DITCH THE SCALE.
I don't understand why so many folks are obssessed with weighing themselves? I guess it comes from all the "brainwashing" (for lack of a better word) that we have been lead to believe that one must weigh this much if one is this tall, etc.
Ditch it if it's making you a crazy person!!! :p

Not to worry!! Trust your body! It may be that you are retaining water needed for healing or cleansing. The scale can make us give up when our bodies are doing their healing work. Best wishes to you!!

Are you gaining muscle?

def NOT gaining muscle. :o I love the scale. I have a habit of ignoring the scale and overeating and gaining 10-15 lbs before I notice at all. So the scale is a MUST. Right now while I am fasting, the quick weight oss is a visual reminder and motivator. I can't *see* the other healing that's going on, so I use the scale to show me that something is "working".
I will try to drink much more water today and see what happens.

I fasted for three days. I didn't lose any weight when I was fasting. Then, the morning after I broke my fast, I was 10 pounds lighter.
Sometimes our bodies just need to hold onto the water in order to heal.

Doesn't the body catch on to the weight loss and go into a retention mode for a wee bit? I remember hearing that and from my own experience too.
i also know my menstrual 'cycle' has an intelligence and no matter how much i am losing at a certain time in the month before my period my body will find water, from somewhere!!! I will gain a bit until my cycle is over.
I hear you with ignoring the scale..I know that eye popping feeling looking down at the scale numbers in complete shock!!!Eyes popping out, mouth open..
Hang in there, you are doing great!

Okay, I can (sort of) understand now...
Maybe you aren't consuming enough liquid during this fast and your body is holding on to whatever it is given...dunno
I have never fasted, so I really can't speak about them...sorry...

First off, all the water you put in is not all going to come up. Secondly, I would try using a tape measure rather than, or in conjunction with the scale. Thirdly, it depends on what time of day you weigh yourself.
What I see as the potential problem here is, you are on a fast and yet you are concerned about gaining weight by drinking water, tea and o.j. You are obsessing!!!!
Consider this ~ what you focus on expands. The mind/body does not hear: "lose weight", it hears "weight"...

No worries sweet Zaph ... You're doing great ... and the weight will drop off... just be patient with your body and give it time to work it's magic...

Hello.
I have been 100% raw for approx 2.5 months now. I am regaining my health and have much more energy. I lost the last 5 pounds that I have been trying to shake.
However, over the last week I have gain that 5 pounds back again. I am puffier and feeling blah! Any idea why I am gaining back weight that it above and beyond where my body is comfortable? I was eating whatever and whenever, as long as it fit the 100% raw criteria. Perhaps I need to cut back on something or eat only before 8:00pm?
Any ideas? I do regular cardiovascular interval training and am adding Nautilus weight training as well.
Thanks for any assistance,

Muscle weighs more then fat. Lots of factors play into the fluctuation of weight loss and gain.

Without knowing WHAT you are eating and other circumstances in your life, hard to tell. Might want to look back and see if you're eating more salt, (sounds like excess fluid retention to me), drinking less water, doing the same movements over and over... how are your bowel movements?
As a health practitioner of 22 years, I've found it's really hard to answer questions w/out enough information.

Thanks so much for the quick replies. I am actually eating considerably less salt than before I went raw. My bowel movements are much more regular and dare I say "soft". They were a few times a week and now are a couple of times a day!
I am guilty of not drinking a lot but now have cut out my coffee and added green smoothies with extra filtered water, more fruits and vegetables and some medicinal (according to David Wolfe) herbal teas that I make from horsetail, oatstraw and nettle at less than boiling temperatures. So my water intake is definitely up from pre-raw.
Just panicking here!! I have felt a little sick over the last 4 days or so. Could this account for weight gain? I also have my period but usually the weight gain is done by day 2 of my period and we are at day 4 now...
I have still worked out.
Any help/wisdom is greatly appreciated!
