I've been wondering about fasting with green smoothies and if I could do it. I'd like to try it.:) What's the difference in feasting & fasting?

Count me in! This is exactly what I've been wanting to do but didn't want to do alone. Yay, support! I think I'll plan on just doing it for 10 days but I'd still love to be a part of it. We could share recipes too b/c I seem to be stuck in a rut...scared to try new greens. I mostly just do spinach, kale, chard, and collards. Would love more exotic recipes :)

raene, that's great! we begin tomorrow although a couple of people started this morning instead of waiting LOL you can email me for more info is you like timelessspirit@shaw.ca
gg, fasting is when you allow the digestion to shut down or slow right down - feasting is when you give your body lots of nutrients.
fasting releases more toxins, whereas feasting focuses more on feeding the body to create greater healing. both are great but are used for different reasons.
lucy, i'll happily accept and cherish that toast!!!

So I made it through day one. It was more difficult for me than I anticipated, but once I thought about it, I realized day one is alway a hard one for me whenever I feast/fast.
I expect today to be better.

Don't dwell on it. Don't keep saying, I've got x number of days left. Instead say, "WOW! I really, REALLY feel good today..." Amazing how that will help you.
Ditto what Lucy said! :D
I'll return to lurking now, but please do update whenever you all can. :p

We are all doing great. Keeping with it and doing great. My hubby is taking a banana to work with him as he's finding that doing heavy work and driving lots isn't working with the GS at this point. But he is only having a banana... so I'm very proud of him!
I'm doing fabulous. Much more energy today... feeling and looking great. Released another pound!!! 195 and happy is where I am!!!
I realize 195 sounds heavy... but where I've come from and all the muscle on my body... it really isn't LOL

Thanks!!! Just a little worried about drinking too much fruit since I'm diabetic. But since going mostly raw I've been taking way less insulin. I really think I'm going to give this a try. Bye for now. Suzy;)

my hubby is diabetic and i was... but no longer since going raw! he's doing this with me!
remember... drinking green smoothies rather than juicing... you are putting the fibre into your tummy... which is good for diabetics!
how long were you on raw before not being diabetic anymore, rg?
oh yeah. i'm still lurking. pardon me. :p

The thread on her constipation: http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=39642
I ran into RR (she's been constipated for 30+ years and is using this green smoothie feast to heal her body) at the gym this morning... here's what's going on with her:
She is not pleased she hasn't released any weight (she's very slim) and I said, "Well, ya you've only just started this"
And she's not happy that her bowels aren't working. Again... she's been consiptated for over 30 years... I told her not to expect her body to heal all that in 7 days.
So... I suggested to her:
Start reducing the amount of extra-strength exlax she consumes per day (She currently takes 5). Reduce by one per week. In the meantime, remove the flax seeds from her daily regime. She consuming a lot of Green Smoothies... I think she said 12 cups per day... so her fibre levels with the greens is already nice and high. She's doing lots of water as well.
Anyway, I suggested she remove one extra-strength exlax per week and then each week add a little ground flax seeds to once Green Smoothie per day.
I also suggested to her that she choose a goal here. She flips from "removing constipation - adding health" to "weight release"... I told her that in my opinion, she needs to let the Universe know what her goal is and then stick to it. Because after all, we all know that she will release weight if she sticks with a raw lifestyle.
Also, she's taking a lot of chia seeds... I suggested she add a couple of tablespoons to one smoothie per day. How much is the max-per-day? Does any of you know?
She's still doing the feast though... I'm very very proud of her!
On our feasting:
Things are going well here. Dave is still drinking coffee, no real detox at this point for either of us although Dave did have some detox last week. He's not raw and so, doing this for this long... I'm very proud of him!
Edited to add:
I found the answer about how many chia seeds to take daily:
Use three tablespoons three times a day of the gel (seeds hydrated). You can mix them into any drink or food and may even just take the gel.

Hi Aleesha,
Your friends' situation sounds very familiar to me. I was constipated from 1st grade until recently. As a elementary student, I attend parochial school, and was led to the "lavatory" by a nun. We were only permitted a short stint in the loo, so naturally I rushed, and never completed my mission of elimination.
Then one day I had to go to the bathroom urgently, and raised my hand for permission. The nun ignored my plea, and left me to poop my pants on my 1.9 mile journey home by foot. That was back in 1961! I have clutched my gut for the past 47 years trying to strain for a bm. One time I went for two weeks without having a movement.
This past January I promised myself I would resolve this problem by fasting, and cleasning my bowels with a ready made, proven cleansing kit. I researched all the usual ones on the internet, and trusted the information given by BlessedHerbs. What an ephiphany!!! I sent for it, and when it arrived on my doorstep a few days later, I knew instantly I was in for a week (8 days) of an emotional rollercoaster ride, plus heavy duty detox and discipline. After the 8 days were up, I noticed the mucoid plaque plug I read about in the information hadn't been released. All the other eliminations were as everybody said, slimey from the psyllium and apple pectin, but on the first day I could introduce anything solid, my bowel movement included the "rope" that was as unusual looking as in the photo.
For the next 3 weeks, I continued to cleanse, and, also intoduced probiotics to restore the natural environment back into my intestines. What I want your friend to know is that I feel great! I'm as regular as the day is long, and my joints are no longer stiff and achey.
Whatever track she is on, please tell her to persevere. Drink a ton of water, green tea, and organic veggie broth to help keep her mind off how hungary she might think she is.

I had to drop out :( I'll try again later, though. I'm hoping to do 2 quarts of green smoothies per day starting May 3rd. Have a doctor's appt at the end of May and want to make sure I'm getting everything I need nutrient-wise. This is my plan.

Are you still drinking one or two GS a day though? Just curious. I couldn't go a day without a GS myself *giggling* I just love them and what they do for my body toooooooo much. :)
It's Day 18 and wow do I ever feel GREAT. I broke my water fast yesterday with two very watery GS and today I feel like I did when I was just doing the GS feast... what a treat.
I'm ready willing and able to get to it!!!
