Do you treat it with anything or just slice and dry?

Slice and dehydrate. Right now I have five trays of soaked nuts dehydrating and 4 trays of sliced fresh pineapple. My house smells AMAZING!!!

I am so excited... my neighbor across the street was having a garage sale this morning and I went over and she was selling a dehydrator for $1.00. It was the same kind as the one I have already, just a step lower, mine has the temp control but the trays all fit the same. So I got it for the trays. For a buck who can go wrong.

Anyway, I have sliced up apples and a couple sweet potatoes. I have 8 trays drying right now.

When these are dry what is the best way to store everything and how long will it last?

I like to coat sweet potatoes with honey and cinnamon before I dry them. YUM!
