Ok..so ive been trying out different smoothies with little success.haha
this is what i tried today and i almost puked it was so bad..lol..
1 apple, 1 pear, handful of grapes, 4 celery sticks, green leaf lettuce, parsley, a little bit of ginger, and carrots, i tastied it..ew..so i added a banana, still ew,,then i added coconut oil..even ewier, lol then i added stevia..nope..still ew.

OK so that was a failure..i think im just trying to combine to many things..ya know? i usually juice taht and it taste good! but not for a smoothie..
a smoothie i had success on was frozen bananas and spinach..YUM. so good. i usually add some protein powder (not raw) which makes it takes not so good, but im scared im not getting enough protein..:x dont hurt me.lol

SO my question is..what is your favorite smoothie?! and let me know the recipe so i can give it a try and tell you what i think :)) thankks!

peace and love xoxo

If you do a search for smoothie recipes, you'll find a ton of 'em. Why re-invent the wheel? I (personally) think yep, adding too much at once. Start simple, you can always add more...

A basic recipe I always stick to is fill the vitamix/ blender jug loosely with greens (kale, spinach, lettuce etc, whatever you feel like) and add a little (not too much) water and blend so u get a runny green paste (that way the greens blend up better and there are no lumps of leaves etc)

Then add banana, and some berries (strawberries, blueberries and raspberries)
OR banana with mango and pineapple.

With the berries you may want to add something sweet to it if the berries aren't sweet enough.

then add whatever to it like maca, or any powder supplements u usually add.
Add some water at this point if it is too thick for your liking. I like to eat mine out of a bowl with a spoon so it is more like a dessert or soup.

Hope that helps!

mine is similar. whenever i get someone new drinking these i tell them to start with:

baby organic spinach (as greens are healthier for you BEFORE they flower)
a little water
3 bananas
frozen blueberries.

once you are drinking this daily for a while... you can try changing it up. let your tastebuds and body get used to it first before moving on.

worked for me and worked for those i suggest it to. :)

oh and soaked chia seeds added to it bring up your protein. i tell them not to add any other supplements until they get used to the flavour of the green smoothies. ;)

My favorite smoothies are like this, but I make them very high in calories, protein and fat since I workout (650 ml of my smoothies is about 700 calories):
-Frozen fruits of choice (100 cals)
-Banana (100 cals)
-Macadamia nuts (200 cals)
-Coconut oil (200 cals)
-Hemp seeds (not protein powder, as it is not a whole food, 100-200 cals)
-Chia seeds (50-100 cals)
-Stevia, sea salt, maca, spirulina, chlorella (negligible cals)
-Water, 'til desired consistency

I hope I'm allowed to mention this, but I also often add a raw egg, the only reason being to ensure I get my vitamin B12, which is absent from a vegan diet and I prefer to take natural food than synthetic toxic B12 supplements, and eggs are the only non vegan thing I'm willing to eat raw (I tried raw cheese but burst out in acne within 12-24 hours, but "raw" cheese is really cooked anyway so that may be why).

I almost always add:
--------------------
-Banana
-Cinnamon
-Vanilla
-Carob - raw choc
-Honey
-Flax
-dried coconut
---------------------
I sometimes add:
-Almond butter
-Coconut oil
-young coconut meat
-coco water
-Dates
-Flax banana bread
-Almond fudge
---------------------
I have a sweet tooth and haven't got into the green smoothies yet.

Jfish - you oughta throw a FEW spinach leaves in there. You cannot taste them! Seriously! You'd be getting some vital greens that way!
