It seems to me that the master cleanse, herbal colon cleanse programs, and colonics all are aimed at the same thing -- cleaning out the colon -- but some are just more direct than others. Am I right? Would doing the master cleanse for week (or more, if necessary) be a reasonable (and less expensive) substitute for an herbal colon cleanse program? I guess the master cleanse doesn't do anything specifically to remove parasites, and most herbal programs do, but is that the main difference?

Aloha parsnip... I'm not an expert... but from what I've read here's my take on the above...

THE MASTER CLEANSE:
This fast, adapted from Stanley Burrough's Master Cleanser (http://www.amazon.com/dp/0963926209?tag=thechiroprainf02&creative=373489&camp=211189&link_code=as3&creativeASIN=0963926209) Recipe, is a simple, yet demanding, cleanse that allows you to maintain a moderate level of energy while cleansing your liver and blood stream and eliminating toxins from your deep tissues and vital organs.

That is one reason why it is recommended (but not necessary) to do this cleanse for 10 days if possible. This gives your body ample time to really flush out the deep toxins down to the cellular level. In addition ... the Master Cleanse does help to move mucoid plaque out of your colon... a very good thing! and I'm sure that if there are any parasite in there... after doing the MC for 10 days or so... it will help to remove them also.

HERBAL COLON CLEANSES ... I think are primarily aimed at cleaning out the colon and ridding our colon of parasites. I do think some toxins are flushed out of our bodies -- but I think that would be minimal.... nothing even close to what the MC does.

COLONICS... really cleans the colon out.... my understanding is that this is cleanse goes 'higher up the colon than say an enema would. Again... similar to what an herbal colon cleanse will do -- but I think a colonic will flush more toxins out of you than an Herbal Colon Cleanse.

I think the difference is that ... with the MC... you are fasting and allowing your body the rest it needs ... it doesn't have to 'waste energy' so to speak digesting food... and it can finally take care of 'other things' ... like healing areas of the body that need repair... deep tissue or organ healing.

the MC is like a cleansing wash every time you drink it... from the inside out ... you are cleansing your body. It goes on for several days allowing a great deal to be accomplished unlike an colonic which is a one time thing a whoosh and what ever was up there is cleaned out....
but no gentle OVER ALL cleaning taking place.
even if you have a 'series of colonics' it's still not flushing your ENTIRE system....

and I see the Herbal colon cleanses the same way -- to short term to really do any good. (not to say they aren't helpful - I'm sure they are).

I have also done the MC for a day here and there.. kinda as a maintenance thing....

good luck -- hope that helped!

I have tried them all and I found the most effective to be a herbal colon cleanse. www.blessedherbs.com The master cleanse seemed to be a superficial colon cleanse - cleaned the colon out but not what was attached to the colon walls as in plaque etc...colonics did the same thing for me.

What I released during the herbal colon cleanse using bentonite clay to draw out toxins and release the mucoid plaque was nothing short of amazing...
