Rather than being upset all day - which ultimately leads to a binge - I am asking for help - I guess that is a positive step for me as I would usually binge(!!) When is this eating guilt going to end? today I have eaten 2 grapefuit and one cantaloupe - I feel very upset by this amount of food. It is too much for me to have in my body because I am inside an office all day so I really did not need that much food. I was so hoping these feelings would eventually go away - darn! I think they are somewhat here because I do have weight to lose and a "dear" family member mentioned that fruit is high in sugar so why would I eat that if I need to lose weight? - UGH!!

I'm not quite clear on this issue. Two grapefruit and one melon is a lot?

I do understand cycles and how our minds can run us ragged... If what you had was too much, then you go on a binge, adding more.. and the cycle goes on.

As far as sugar goes, maybe you might consider doing some research (here's a good a place as any) on the difference between white sugar (no, sugar is not sugar) and sugar that comes from the natural fruit and how it enters one's system.

Also, I'd stay away from "dear friends" like yours.

... and, it's not so much about the "feelings" as the thoughts that created the feelings.

Consider this ~ read what you wrote as though someone else wrote it. What would you tell that friend as a truly dear friend?

Not uncommon to find yourself eating more in the beginning to get the same full feeling you got with the foods you ate prior to raw. Just eat what you want for now, let your body adjust to this way of eating, and soon you'll find how freeing this diet really is. ~ Cathy

Thank you to you both! Revell - I know it is not right but some days i get that "i blew it mentality" - If I was to help someone else out I would say exactly what the both of you said! I know my family member has never read a book on nutrition in her life and raw is about freedom - I should be happy that I put sunshine and nutrients into my body and will have the energy to go for a run this afternoon because of it. I thank you for your support guys!!

"Kiss the earth, love it, and water it with your tears." From The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky.

When you feel like you have eaten too much, remind yourself that raw food is directly from the earth. It is good and nourishing. Though you may feel like you are eating too much right now, your body will find its balance.

Fruit is good for us, but personally, it doesn't fill me up for very long unless I add it to a smoothie with other stuff. I also remember reading that if you eat just fruit, your stomach will empty out much faster than if you eat other things with it. That is suppose to be a good thing, but again, you won't feel very full for very long. Be kind to yourself and if you are truly hungry, eat something healthy. You probably need protein!! My favorite smoothie has almond butter, frozen bananas and hemp seed milk. Keeps me full much longer than just a banana alone.

Honey, be kind to yourself! When you're eating such delicious and perfect earth food, your body will tell you what it needs. Food is a gift; enjoy it and say Thank You! Consider yourself hugged.

Your being hard on yourself, 2 grapefruits and 1 melon, and your feeling guilty, that is nothing to be guilty off. I am reading the 80-10-10 by Dr Douglas N Graham, he would be advising you to be eating a lot more than that, and still be loosing weight. Fruit has natural sugar it cant harm you the only thing it can do is nourish you. So go and eat another mellon and many more pieces of fruit, be kind to your body.

Good luck
