View Full Version : What happens if I forget to rinse?

I soaked some mung beans, and some lentils, (separately, of course), Sunday night, and then put them in mesh bags on Monday morning, rinsed them, and set them aside. But I forgot to go back and rinse them throughout the day. Are they ruined now? (I rinsed them this morning, (Tuesday).) Thanks for your help!

Smell 'em. Your nose can answer that question.

So, they will spoil if they not rinsed throughout the day? I didn't realize that is the reason. Thanks, Revvell.

My lentils look great! They are all swollen with little shoots coming out of them. My mung beans, however, look exactly the same. I'm not convinced that rinsing them is to prevent spoilage, (as in they start to stink), especially when using mesh bags which prevents them sitting in water. I wonder if rinsing is more for preventing them from drying out, because they won't sprout if they completely dry out. Well, we'll see. I'll wait on the mung beans a couple more days.

It's a combination. If they dry out, no, they wont sprout. If they stay wet w/out rinsing, they spoil. I didn't know from what you said what the problem was.
