I'm starting a juice fast this morning. I made my juice last night, so I'm all ready to go. Not sure what my current weight is...I'll post that later.

excited to be on this journey again. I love the freedom that fasting brings me. I'm doing this because I felt called to fast and I'd like to lose some of the weight I gained when I went SAD in Feb.

Thanks. I did a 34 day fast back in October. I just love fasting. I really really do. I need to work on coming off the fast slower. It's like 1 bite-straight to a large bowl of food. I'd really like to learn how to slowly re-intro to food for a few weeks. I have no idea how long I will be doing this-I'll let my body decide, but I do hope it's longer than 10 or 14 days to get maximum benefit. I went thru a very emotionally difficult time in Feb and fell off the wagon-HARD. I'd like to detox AMAP*, ASAP (*As Much As Possible)

Hello Zaphirah,

I haven't been on this site in awhile. However, I started my juice fast today also and decided to see if anyone else was starting today. My plan is do 25 days. My goal for the fast is detox body, end bad food cravings, and to lose 20 lbs. Through the week day, I will try to check in each day to report my status.

Hello all. yesterday I weighed 147, today I weigh 143. LOL! There's nothing like fasting to boost your confidence. :p

I didn't have any hunger last night until bedtime. I drank 4 oz of OJ and it went away. This morning I am not hungry at all. I've never had it this easy before.

I'm guessing that my body totally knows what's up this time around? I have a meeting with the special ed dept re: one of my boys and I was thinking that I might be totally out of it for the meeting due to lack o food, but I feel great this morning.

I'm even planning on doing our shopping a day early because tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful and I want to be able to do yard work all day long.

So best of luck to you, all my fasting buddies! I'll check back in later.

I completed my first day of juice fasting. It was relatively easy. No real hunger or food fantasies yet. I will posting.

today is the start of day 3. I had an intense meeting w/ ds's school. I was worried if I'd be clear headed enough to be fully present. It went beautifully. The best part was that I had to DEAL with my anxiety over the meeting rather than stuff my face (raw or SAD) to cover how I was feeling. Maybe that's why it went so well?

I lost another pound. I am 142 this morning.

still going. a little tired and bored today. somewhat restless. it was a very trying week, not the *best* conditions to start a fast, but I'm truckin' on thru. I weight 140 this morning. I got to put on clothes that I ordered in Jan that didn't fit by the time they arrived in Feb. I just wish it was sunny and or warm outside, so I could soak up some energy. It's gray and dreary and very cold, in the 30s. I don't know why I am drawn to fast in the colder months, verses the warmer months:confused:

anyway, hunger is gone. like I said, just bored and out of energy and creativity. Hope that doesn't last long! :p

Nearly the end of day 5. I weighed 140.0 this morning so tomorrow I should see the 130s again. Hunger COMPLETELY gone now. It was still hanging around a little yesterday and even this morning. I've only had about 10 oz of juice today and I feel pretty darn good. I have had some green/dandelion root tea and plenty of water, but as far as calories/sugars I've only had 10 oz of OJ. I post this because, frankly I'm surprised. Usually I am drinking 24-40 oz of juice at this point. it's like my body totally remembers doing this before. lol. There are more details, but you'll have to read my journal for those.

Today is day 7. My skin looks SO much better. I need to drink a little more water, as I have dark circles under my eyes right now. This fast has been by far the easies fast ever. I'm not sure how long I will go, but at least 3 weeks seems easy, and 40 days would be ideal. I think I'm going to switch to water on Wed and see how I do. I'd like to feel some deeper cleansing going on. I say Wed because I still have some OJ that I'd like to finish up today or tomorrow. I went to Alchemy last night and got a beautiful juice. It was carrot, lemon, cayanne, and ginger. It was so yummy!
Alchemy's a cool little place to hang out. I really love it there. I just wish it was closer. Seems like the people we meet are so far away from us, to establish friendships, but then again there's NOTHING around here.
So-here's to Day 7 and feelin' great!

Good morning everyone,

Sorry I have not been posting but my fast is going so well. It has been relatively easy. I stayed so busy over the weekend that I didn't have time to even think much about it. We have a walk challenge at work for the month of April so I am doing a lot of moving while on this fast.

I am down to 129.5 lbs. I feel so light and amazing. My hope is that the weather will be a lot warmer when it's time to break my fast so that I can really enjoy my very awesome raw, no fat smoothies that taste better than ice cream.

how long have you been on your fast? Today is day 8 for me. I'm loving it. I love the break I get from planning and preparing food. It's such a restful time. yesterday I felt really great so I jogged for 30 min and then did an ab and arm workout. It was wonderful. Today's weather promises to be as lovely as yesterday, so I plan on doing lots of yard work. I have never lived in this house in the spring yet, so it's been amazing to see all these bulbs coming up. I don't know what they are but there are lots of them! :p

I can't believe it's already day 9. I feel so good. I def. did not drink enough water yesterday. I was so busy driving and then doing yard work that I pretty much forgot! :o
This morning I weighed 138.5. I am going food shopping today because tomorrow it's supposed to get near SEVENTY DEGREES!!!!! Then it goes back to being in the 40s, so I'm gonna make the best of it.
I plan to do some early morning food shopping at WFs, then work outside for the afternoon. I have to be careful...my Irish skin isn't used to the sun and I tend to burn very easily. I haven't been having as many tomatoes as I usually do, which I heard can help reduce your risk of sunburn.
I had more raw champagne for breakfast. It's so yummy!
Well, off to enjoy another beautiful sunny day!

Good Morning everyone,

Zaphirah, I am also on day 9. I don't have anything exciting to report but mainly because I am starting to become more of a private faster. I came to this site for support but I sense a big change in me compared to previous fasts. I don't really feel the need to share a lot of details like I use to. Therefore, please know that I am not intentionally evasive and that I am just going with the spirtual part of this process.

I will continue to check and report my days and anything else that I feel I need to share. Also, I am very happy to answer questions.

Having said that, what is raw champagne?

I understand. I'm haven't really felt like posting much-I'm just doing it for my fans. :p (j/k)

raw champagne is a recipe from Dorit's book: Celebrating Our Raw Nature.
It consists of 2 apples, a large bunch of grapes, a wedge of lemon-all put through the juicer. You can add 2 cups of chilled water, if you wish-or just drink it, full strength. I have found that I like it much better with red grapes. The flavors mellow together better, IMO. Dorit suggests serving it in champagne flutes. I drink it out of one of my favorite hand thrown pottery.

Today is day 13. Still going strong, altho I am lightheaded when I bend down, or sit and then get up, but it quickly passes. Yesterday was the first day I felt weak. Today we are doing lots of yard work so I am going to up my juice. Yesterday I only had about 3 oz diluted in 10 oz of water. I drink lots of water and a little mate'. But I think it just wasn't enough yesterday for all the work I was doing. i am 1 pound away from my goal weight, so I hope to post that I have reached it in the next few days.

Hello Zaphirah,

Nice to see you're still hanging in there. I am still going as well. However, I must admit that I am very disappointed that I only lost 1 lb during the second week of fasting. The fasting has been very easy and I've already achieved my goal for detoxing but I would still like to lose 7 more lbs. But the way things a looking, that might not happen. At any rate, I will be playing it by ear for the next few days to see if I want to continue with juices or if perhaps fruits and vegetables only might help me lose a few more lbs.

Take care.

Hi! You are a fasting diva! I ended my fast yesterday. Hunger returned much sooner than expected. I had expected to easily fast for 28 days, and maybe even 40-but suddenly there was Hunger. I'm very surprised because I went 34 days last fall. I felt I needed to respect what my body was telling, so I obeyed. ;) This is the first fast that I have been able to end with some self control still intact. :p so I have been able to stay 100% raw. Last time I ended my fast I ate a hot dog, popcorn and pb. I feel good about it altho it wasn't what I thought it would be. Maybe next time!

Hello Zaphirah,

You did absolutely great. I am actually going to end mine later today since the weight loss has stopped.

Like you, I feel very much in control. I've done a lot of fasting and have really mastered the ability to break it with only fruits and vegetables. The self control part finally hit me 5 or 6 fasts ago when I fasted for 56 days. It was a great experience but one that I don't plan to repeat unless my health should ever require such a long fast. At any rate, I look forward to returning to my wonderful lowfat, minimally processed, near vegan diet. I know that's a lot of adjectives to describe my diet but over the years, I have finally learned what works for me.

Best wishes and thanks for keeping me company on my spring fast.
