going once.

going twice........

and nobody wants it!!!

i'm thinking it's detox but my goodness: this stench of really strong garlicky onion bread, sometimes burnt-like is emanating from my underarms and i'm not quite sure what to do about it. i wouldn't post anything like this unless i'd heard someone else say it before :o but when i've seen it mentioned i didn't see any note of causes and cures/prevention.

is this temporary?

what do you put on stinky onion bread underarms?

i use natural deodorant, and normally that works. i've switched brands 3 X now and only found one, the Wella brand, which has alcohol as its first ingredient that works. i use this when i need it but it's really expensive so i'd love to hear from anybody about how long this lasts?

thanks   :D (plugging nose smiley too)

Usually it works just the opposite......Your smell leaves. Are you consuming Garlic a lot? Do drink plenty of water to flush yourself out. I am for using ANY deoderant that will take the smell away.

Have you been eating onion bread...:D
When I make a batch of it and eat loads of it my husband complains because he says I stink from it.....

Sorry hun, I don't have an answer for you. Have you tried any of those prescription stength deodorants? I believe Degree and Secret both make one. I know they're not natural but if the smell really bothers you. I love your honesty by the way! I just really do. Good luck!!

The smell comes from bacteria feasting on the sweat of your underarms. Gross, I know! Try using rubbing alcohol, hand sanitizer, or vodka instead of the deoderant. The alcohol kills the bacteria so you don't smell. It's much cheaper to just use alcohol instead of buying some fancy deoderant with the main ingredient as alcohol.

Everytime I eat onion bread my urine has a strong, STRONG onion aroma. And having shared stalls here at work...well, I just venture out and grin. :D

I just think it's part of my body doing what it's supposed to do...

Sure beats the smell of the (so-called) foods that folks destroy in the microwave and then consume!

thanks everyone!!!

i went back to the regular deodorants which DO work on my stinky underarms--I think I gave the impression nothing worked (RawSinger: prescription strength:D LOL) but I was saying ONLY the natural ones aren't working and create that parfum d'oignon. so to be clear: when I use the regular deodorants, they DO work. hopefully I am not the odd ball at pot lucks or the person everyone is sniffing extra hard around after this post :D

the funny thing is I rarely eat onions themselves - I do have a few shakes of onion powder in some of the recipes I use, but nothing significant. ditto for garlic. i am left to conclude it is the toxins and bacteria growing there (BLECKKK!!!). I have been sweating more since going raw so maybe that increases the chance of bacteria growing/multiplying? Maybe I should bring deodorant with me everywhere to reapply? I really want to stick to non-aluminum, non-parabens so I'll try anything once...

thanks rawstrength...i wasn't sure if alcohol was bad for us so was trying to stay away from it (may seem silly but what do i know)!

VeganforLife: I am so glad I am not the only one who sees bodily eliminations and emanations as natural and ok to discuss (maybe because i was raised by a nurse, it's all 'clinical' to me, perhaps not so great socially though:D )

anyway here's to discussion about stinky BO and strong pp!

using alcohol to kill the bacteria seems like a good idea. Makes sense. Yeah, Pitaya, I got the impression that nothing worked for you. I felt bad.

Okay, yeah, I just read your thread in it's entirety just now and you did say a certain deodorant worked. Oops...derrrr!!

this may help as it helped me with the funky detox.

put 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (with the mother brand) in half a glass of pure water...drink it 2-3x daily

another alternative is to chew on mint leaves

or dilute some peppermint or rosemary essential oil with a carrier oil (like olive oil) and dab a little under your arms with a cottonball

do a test run with this though...sometimes it burns...

dry skin brushing is amazing also followed up with an epsom salt or dead sea salt bath

oh! one more thing...maybe your body would love the treat of a lympathic drainage massage (that would probably do the trick)

best wishes,
Crystal

thanks again RawStrength I've been using hand sanitizer just in the morning (carrying in my purse in case it failed on me) but it worked!!! I didn't have to apply it again or anything. Guess there was just too many bacteria monsters growing under there.......yuck and scary!!! ewww

RawHeaven it's so nice to know about all the other options out there. I absolutely LOVE learning alternative methods to address issues! thank you thank you thank you!

Veganforlife.......LOL :D :D :D

RawSinger: it's all good! I do my best to stay away from regular deodorants because of the aluminum and parabens that have been linked to cancer. better safe than sorry is my philosophy....especially when it comes to health!

by the way.......is alcohol okay to put into your system? I mean rubbing alcohol and ethyl alcohol (as in the hand sanitizer Purell and many natural ones; also in mint and vanilla extracts used for desserts). I've tried googling to find answers but must be using wrong search terms. i graduated university but never took a chemistry class in my life so natural vs synthetic is  to me.

I don't use deodorant now, i don't seem to need anything since that i am on raw food.

The smell is because you still have toxin, you don't want to block the pore with anything. What you could do is to use a nice vanilla lotion and it will neutralize the oder. This is what i was doing before my raw diet. The toxin needs to go somewhere and you don't want them stuck within you. Eventually, you will find yourself not smelling at all.

As mention, i don't need to use anything at all now. There is also the crystal salt that you can use, apparently it works great.

Your best bet is wheatgrass juice.

It will kill the smell. In fact you won't have any smell at all anywhere.

If you find wheatgrass juice funky then dilute it with water and lots of lemon, some agave, and make a wheatgrass lemonade.

But wheatgrass will work beautifully.

Good luck.

Carla.

thanks everyone!!

update: i have been learning that some of the fabrics I wear bring this smell out more, which makes sense. also, my overall smell without deodorant IS going away! I use Purell hand sanitizer on my underarms most days, and it works fine, but I still use commercial crap on days I go out with friends because I am soooo selfconscious (one day since I posted a friend pointed out she could smell my BO!!! I had asked her to do so telling her i was trying just the Purell experiment, but we were with a group of friends and I was  )

wheatgrass.......interesting!!! i love the idea of wheatgrass lemonade. the only thing is you NEED a juicer for this, right? or can I blend it up in a blender? i haven't yet invested in a juicer, and cannot for a while yet.

this place is so fantastic!!!
yayyy rawww :) :) :)
