I love making zucchini pasta. My problem is that there is always lots of water or some form of liquid that gets to the bottom of the bowl. I have made marinara sauce and not sure if this is the problem or what. I am using Roma tomatoes and no liquid or oil added to sauce. Maybe this was discussed before but I am not having a flashback.

Am I supposed to let the pasta drain before adding the "sauce?" Thanks.

what shazzie reccommends is laying the zuccini pasta on kitchen paper while you are preparing the rest of the meal so it absorbs the excess moisture from the zuccini :) xxx

Seren,
Thanks bunches. It seems that the pasta doesn't seem wet while in the bowl, but after a short time when I add the marina looking about hour later at the dish, there is where the evidence of water shows up on the bottom of the bowl. Will try this next time. Thanks bunches. Zucchini on sale here so planning on being a week of pasta--$.89 pound organic here is cheap!

I'd never heard of anyone else trying to get the excess water off but I do the same thing. I put down paper towels and let them absorb the water b/c I just found it kinda gross. Works for me!!

I've even put it in a nut bag and squeezed out the moisture...

This is a great idea. Also, try only putting the sauce on the pasta that you are about to eat. Don't put the sauce on the whole bowl of pasta.

Forgot to add, I sprinkle a LITTLE sea salt to draw out the water first, then let it sit (hang), then squeeze in a nut bag...

Great tips. Thanks. I usually make pasta when going to rawluck so want it all together looking like the "real" thing. I didn't use any salt.

I would never have thought of paper towels or nut bag. See we are never to old to learn new tricks.

Zucchini is a very water-rich vegetable and "sweats" when it comes in contact with certain other ingredients (like salt). That's why it seems dry until you add the marinara sauce. If you want to remove as much water as possible so your dish doesn't get runny, sprinkle a little sea/Himalayan salt on your zukes and let it "sweat it out" for an hour or so. Then drain/dry with paper towels and you're set!

(P.S. you should probably rinse the excess salt off too)

vasana1: I'm definitely going to do this next time. I want to give zucchini spaghetti another chance and this is a really good idea.

RawSinger - this is what we did at Living Light and it worked great. It definitely helps if you don't like your sauce watery! :D

I just had some zucchini pasta and I had the same problem I am eating the leftovers tonight so I'll try laying the "noodle" on a paper towel first!

Me no likey runny sauce either...

Thanks for more tips. Interesting what Living Light does. I don't use salt however and in some dishes super sparingly, but yet on salads--pinch.

You know, my family has always done this with cucumbers and I never really understood why - but I always do it because I grew up that way. We always cut and salt our cucumbers, then let them sit for a while and then wash them off. They taste really good and then the (sour) cream sauce we put on didn't get all watery. Hey, I think I'll make a raw version of this! YUM. Thanks Vasana1

I watched someone make their noodles....then the sauce and after the sauce is made they took about 3 layers of paper towell and layed them on the noodles while gently pressing them to soak up any extra liquid before putting on the marinara sauce.

I have had success with letting it sit in a strainer while preparing the other items...

I have a new chiro who believes in xraying the injured area which I needed after 2 1/2 months of gym injury. I'm find with back, hip and pelvic area favoring left side so about month should be all fixed. Great price because of my friend who he is "pursuing."

I made him pasta dish out of yellow zucc. with a marinara sauce. Nothing special topped with fresh basil seeds and few leaves on top. Of course my Garlic pickle using Boutenko recipe. You can search for link:
carolg problem pickle boutenko are key words.

He loved it all.

Wonder what tomorrow's dish or sweet will be. I just have to give him a teaser for the great deal he is cutting me and to tease him into health nut mode.

I tend to find that it's the marinara sauce that gets watery not the noodles. I keep them seperate until I'm ready to eat then I can dish out the sauce with a slotted spoon and viola...............mmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmm good!
