I heard that being on a raw diet helps to deworm my body. Is it true?

What makes you think you have worms? A raw diet helps everything, but if you have worms, you might need some herbal help, and there are a few that work together quite well (ie wormwood, clove,) Other than herbs, I know that massive amounts of raw garlic and coconut are supposed to help.

I've been raw for more than a year and had a rash and itching problem that never went away. Perhaps raw helps in some circumstances, but it did not in mine. If you are going to do an herbal cleanse from a company, just make sure you ask a lot of questions about the ingredients. I got one from Blessed Herbs and discovered too late that fake sugars were included in my cleanse. Not very cleansing if you ask me.

If you're open to doing something different (that's free), you could google urine therapy. I know it's different -- but it is something I found when I was searching for ways to naturally rid myself of a parasite.

I (correctly) believed a parasite to have been the cause of my rashes.

garlic... lots of it will kill parasites. when i first became raw i did two juice feast/fasts with lots of garlic juiced in them. i can't imagine anything could have survived that month LOL my family sure didn't want to be around me much LOL

and... eating raw WILL but your body back to health and will kill many parasites which inhabit it (inside your stomach for example)

Im very young only 17 and I didnt even know what worms were, however after going raw one day i went to the bathroom and I saw some, the same thing happened to my mother also, who also does raw food. So yes raw food does get some worms out but I would def. do a herbal cleanse, Ive already done two!

IF consumed in enough quantity, I can testify to the anti-parasitic power of fresh wheatgrass juice!

Anyone know if we more likely to GET worms eating raw? That would also make sense as it may be hard to wash off all larvae, etc.

Well, there is some possibility, but equally, one should keep in mind that many larvae are apparently not reliably killed by cooking temperatures, anyway. I've been meaning to look deeper into this for some time now but I just don't have the necessary free time to dig deep.

The other thing that is relevant here is that the majority of raw-foodists tend to consume a vegetarian or vegan diet, for obvious reasons. Therefore, they automatically avoid the possibility of contracting parasites from raw fish (if sushi is prepared properly - frozen down to below 40 degrees, I believe, then this kills parasites) or raw meat, so in that sense, they may have a lower overall chance of contracting parasites.

On the flip-side, however, many raw-foodists consume too much fruit and too much fat, each of which can, for differing reasons, contribute to a reduction in the levels of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, so increasing the possibility of certain parasites getting through to the intestines.

Interesting subject but difficult to be absolutely conclusive about it!
