January was Amazing!!
Feb and March so so...
One thing that I have noticed...even though I wasn't 100% raw, I have come miles and miles from where I was pre-raw enlightenment! I am so very excited to get back to how great I feel at 100%

I managed to maintain high raw since September but haven't been 100% since September. Talked to my amazing hubby last week and told him I felt so wonderful at 100%, I didn't understand why I wasn't just sticking with it. I actually miss how great I felt at 100%. He encouraged me to go for it, and even said he would be willing to eat raw dinners 3 nights a week. :D He's a sweet guy! So, here I go again... no April Fool's joke...beginning April 1- 100% her I come!

I am leader in the local health food coop in my area and also teach food prep classes- I am doing another Living Foods class mid-April. In an attempt to encourage others in my area to try raw I have started a blog. Check it out- gettingtheglow.blog.com

Looking forward to the journey ahead,
Kristi:)

Yes, I would love to join for April!
This timing is great for me. I am newly back to raw (I was seriously raw before but have been away a year and a half) This time around I hope to find more balance with it and listen more to my body.
I am also looking for ways to not loose too much weight.
I am not good with too many nuts but any other ideas would be so appreciated :)

I'm in, too. I'm raw 100%...until I'm not...maybe 25 out of 30 days I've been eating raw and then on those 5 days I eat one cooked meal. But I'd love to be 100% 100% of the time. :)

Welcome to the April raw food challenge!

If you are not familiar with how these work, you basically just document your (RAW) intake each day (a new thread will be created by me each day), how you're feeling, etc and give and get support.

Per the rules (sticky posting) you are not to post your cooked food slip-ups here in the challenge threads - those are better suited to your journal and if you're really having a time of it and need some help with cooked food issues, please post about in the main Raw and Living Food Discussion forum area...but please, not here...thanks!

So, have fun and have a wonderful day!

Food plan, well there really isn't one. I am going to have a GS this morning, and not sure what for lunch, probably make some hummus!! I need to soak some flax and get some crackers in the "magic box" as Starfire calls it!

I'll post later. My kids and I are watching my 8 month old niece and things around the house are busy!

Good morning everyone,

I started to come down with a cold yesterday that I must have caught from my hubby over the weekend. I have decided that today I'm going to stay home to rest! When I call into work to tell them, they are going to think I'm playing an April Fool's joke! :p I never stay home for myself because I really don't like laying around (I always feel like I should be doing something), and work normally takes my mind off how I feel. :o But it's time for some changes around here, so I told myself this morning that I need to start treating myself like I would treat a friend! (Thanks for the previous advice, Tvillemom) Plus I might as well keep my germs to myself!

So far today I haven't felt like eating. I had my wheatgrass and will most likely just stick to oranges if I get hungry this morning.

Hope everyone has a great 1st day in the April challenge! I'm looking forward to seeing what other great things will happen for me this month!

Well it is still morning here and so far so good. I am feeling a bit under the weather today. Don't have too many meetings today, so that should work out. Good morning!
This is my first 30 day challenge...here goes.
Today I'm planning on eating:
-red pear
-carrot sticks
-apple
-salad
-green smoothie
-raspberry coconut pie
-handful nuts and dates
-huge dinner salad with avocado
My goals are to really work on not slipping up...I tend to have a cooked meal once a week even though I really don't want it...there's something about going out to eat...and I slip up on Indian food.
I'm also hoping to work out more often (my goal is 3 times a week at the Y and I don't have a car so I walk everywhere daily). I worked out yesterday so I'll give it a rest today.
I'm also needing to gain at least ten pounds. I'm underweight and no matter how many bananas I eat I don't seem to gain...I weigh 122 and I'm over six feet tall! I'm hoping to get pregnant this summer so I'd really like to gain weight before I conceive. If anyone has any tips other than bananas, dates, avocados, and nuts, I'd really appreciate it. Nuts make me tired so I try to really limit my intake.

Raene - please don't take this as an insult but I think the menu you posted is not enough food. Have you tried eating 3 meals - MEALS - like for example, Breakfast - pancakes with fruit and syrup with a glass of almond milk and banana and chocolate added in to it, or raw grawnola with fruit and coconut milk; lunch - soup, salad, and pasta entree or pate with crackers and soup and salad, dinner - same as lunch except maybe pasta with nut dressing (not marinara sauce) for the extra calories; dessert - could be a snack in between lunch and dinner or after dinner - your pie mentioned above sounds wonderful! I just wonder if you need to eat more at each sitting in order to gain weight? I don't have that problem at all - I need to lose weight. You could probably have 2 snacks per day, not just one (Dessert, almond milk smoothie, etc.). Do you have any raw cookbooks? (All of these items above are raw of course). Anyway...if you do not have a raw cookbook, start with Alissa's, Any Phyo's , and Rawvolution. They are easy recipes and most taste great! Good luck to you.

I am on week two of this raw food experience and am committing myself by joining this thread
breakfast - frozen fruit smoothie (pineapple, blueberry, raspberry)
snack - banana, green apple
lunch - salad - spinach, romain, grape tomatoes, green pepper, raw cheddar ( I am doing raw dairy - have not committed to non dairy yet)
with EVOO and lemon
snack - if needed ... raw nuts, raisins, raw seeds
dinner ... replay of lunch ... no dehydrating equipment yet :( but longing for it
treat 70% chocolate.....

Count me in!!! I just completed juicing 12 pounds of carrots, 2 large cantaloupe and some oranges and I'm sipping my way to freedom-physically, emotionally and spiritually! I went raw July of 2007, right after having my fourth child, and I lost all of (his) baby weight within 5 weeks. Now, I need to tackle my third pregnancy's remaining 30 pounds. I've spent the last 8-9 months munching myself through raising four young children. Spirit has told my countless times to go back to earth's source for nourishment of my depleted body, mind and intuitive energies.

Hi everyone, this is my first challenge!

I work evening shift so my day starts much later than many of you. I'm enjoying my breakfast now, a green smoothie made with spinach, pineapple chunks and cantaloupe. I pack my lunch/dinner, and today will be an apple, pear and banana for snacks, and a big mixed green salad with lots of veggies. I'm taking a few flax crackers and a small dish of nuts and dates, just in case. I'd rather have extra than feel deprived. I usually eat a snack in front of the computer, after work, so I'll have a bit of taco meat and crackers, if I feel hungry.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day! Catherine

I started the morning with a fantastic smoothie!!

It was:
1 small frozen banana
1/3 cup raw cashews
1t (heaped) raw chocolate powder
1t (heaped) green powder
1/2 t pure vanilla extract
Squirt of raw agave
Herbal colon cleansing powder

For lunch and dinner, I'll probably have avocado, romaine 'cigarillos' with Alissa's mock salmon pate and fruit. I usually have goji's and banana as a snack halfway through the morning, but I'm not hungry yet.

As for exercise, rebounding for a while should get me started.
Have a great raw day everyone!!!:D

I do usually eat more than what was mentioned, sorry if that worries people. I dont like to use too many recipes b/c I have digestion issues and I can't mix foods very easily. I really try to do mono meals throughout the day. I was just guessing what I'd eat today, but it will probably be more than that. Maybe I should post at the end of the day about what I have already eaten. The thing is, I'm not starving myself...if I am hungry, I eat, but I can't just force myself to eat when I'm not. I have several raw recipe books including Alissa's, but when I eat that way I tend to be really gassy.

I did read in Alissa's book that someone who was underweight lost even more weight after going raw and it took her body a whole year to rid of the toxins before she was able to start putting on weight...and now she is a healthy weight. Maybe I just should be patient. :)

Good Morning!

It's Day One of my thirty day raw celebration! :D

Breakfast: green smoothie with soaked chia seeds
Midmorning snack: thawed grapefruit juice (two grapefruits)
Lunch: sunflower pate with celery and cucumbers
Midafternoon snack: A Larabar/two
Dinner: Probably another smoothie...

Any suggestions on how much a person needs to eat in a day to stay healthy and strong? I'm a small male (5'4") with a lean build and worry about not eating enough. I've read a lot of stuff and am a bit confused. Some say you need less on this diet and others say you have to eat TONS of fruit. I can only eat so much...

Hooray for April!

I took this morning off work to sleep in and see if I could kick this cold. I do feel a little better, and it was nice to get some sleep. Foodwise, I feel like I'm kind of in a rut of eating the same things over and over. So this week I'm going to try to make more recipes and eat different stuff. Hopefully that will also get my weight loss going again; I only lost a pound during the March challenge. I think I need to work on eating more, so that's what I'll try.

Food today:
Started with veggie juice (spinach, cucumber, parsley, celery, carrot)
2 raw chocolate truffles
Lunch will be a cantaloupe
Snack: raw hummus with celery, guacamole (avocado and corn) on onion bread
Dinner: zucchini pasta with marinara sauce (I may add soaked cashews to the sauce to make it more filling)

Exercise will be 20 minutes on the elliptical, a weight circuit, and a 30 minute walk with my pooch.

I'm excited for April, and glad to see so many new folks on the challenge!!

Raene: you may want to try drinking lots of orange juice. It puts weight on me really fast, and I know Storm Talifero uses it to maintain his weight.

I am trying the green smoothies for the first time and planning on making a quart a day and drinking all of it (for one month). So green smoothies all day, apple, almonds, orange, and big red leaf lettuce salad...that's the plan for today.

Day one! I'm so excited to go for thirty days...one day at a time though!

Today (so far)...

-Green smoothie (romaine, spinach, carrot, apple, strawberry...odd texture)
-Apple and half of a huge orange...very sweet, soo good!
-A tomato, green pepper and a bunch of mushrooms chopped up to munch on
-Lots of water...

Tonight is going to be a frozen fruit smoothie because I'm craving strawberries in a mean way - there must be some reason why, so I'm going to feed them to my body. Maybe a big salad with the mock salmon pate, yum! And then of course - some fudge balls or date torte...so devine!

Best wishes to you all, we're in this together!! :D

Yay! April is here! I'm in guys and ready to go. So far today I've had a green smoothie with bananas, strawberies, pineapple, spinach, flax seed, and a touch of agave nectar

Right now I'm munching on some leftover zusghetti I made over the weekend, YUM! I also brought to work some cheesy sweet potato chips I made. I forgot to bring some flaxseed crackers to go with my taco "meat", but I think that would've been overkill anyway.

Today is actually Day 9 Raw for me, and I have been shooting to run at least 2 miles 5 days a week. Last week was a great sucess, and I"m excited to see what April has in store for me.

Catherine

Wow, your meal plan sounds a lot like mine! I brought and apple, a pear, and banana, as well as taco meat. I messed up and left my crackers, but they are on top of the fridge as we speak!

This is my first 30 day challenge and I've had great really great food today.

This morning breakfast was a blueberry, banana, soaked almond and hemp smoothie.

Lunch was built on collard roll ups. I filled my collard leaves with grated turnip, carrot, Braggs marinated purple onion, a little avo, and fresh pea sprouts!
Dug around in the cabinet and found dehydrator onion and olive bread (courtesy of Deva Khalsa of The Cleanse). So I had a piece of that too.

I started off lunch with kombucha -- I make my own using Puerh Tea. (Speaking of kombucha, the kombucha mojitos at Grezzo are FABULOUS!)

I was still hungry and wanted to clear my palate so I had a raw chocolate macaroon (also of Deva Khalsa of The Cleanse).

Dinner will be a couple temple oranges & a restaurant salad. Any notable advice on restaurant ordering? -- I'll look through the rest of the forum too.

I'm going out to eat so salad seems to be the best choice.

Snack: Chinese dried dates "Da Zao".

My goal is to just eat live foods -- though I'd love to also lose weight and detox -- but I figure if I just stick to the food those other goals will follow. I do yoga & meditate for 2 hours each morning, walk the dog, and work on my feet. I'm hoping that's enough exercise because I don't have time in my schedule to fit in more. I haven't gotten on the scale in a while and guess I will tomorrow so I can see where I'm starting...

Have a great day!!

Hi all!

Like others here, my goal is to make it 30 days raw! I have been eating raw since January and during that time I have had cooked food 4 times, plus wine and a slip back into the caffeine via green tea. It's just really hard during the cold weather. I feel that once summer hits, it will much easier.

So far today (and it is 1:00 pm here) I have had

Fresh squezzed grapefruit juice
Green smoothie (kale, banana & mango)

Avocado on onion bread

The rest of the day I will drink carrot juice, snack on apples with cashew butter, and likely have a salad for dinner. And if I have a sweet tooth later tonight I will have dates. That always cures it!

I'm happy to be here!

Bananas, because they're cheap, raw burritos done in cabbage leaves, ratatouille. But I've got a huge craving for potato pancakes...anyone know a good raw recipe that will relieve such a craving?

I'm super excited about joining my first challenge! Today was great, green juice in the morning, with some fruit (I think it was a pear and an apple?)

For lunch, I had snow peas, an apple, and handful of trail mix I made. I was going to pack a big salad but I did not wake up early enough! Serves me right for not preparing the night before!

I'm going to be eating dinner soon, though! I am probably going to make a salad with mixed greens, corn, tomatoes, jalepenos, bell peppers, onion, and garlic. I was going to make some yummy treats because my food processor was supposed to be delivered tonight, but it's not here! I do have a blender, so I am going to make raspberry cream soup for a snack later and breakfast tomorrow, though!

Also, eeee, getting my Excalibur this weekend. SO excited :D

Hope everyone is having a fun-filled first, full of sunshine, inside and out.

THis morning I had a GS with pineapple, banana, spinach and collard greens

Lunch was gazpacho and a banana

Went to the health food store (they have 20% off the first tues of the month) and stocked up on raw "stuff"....spent WAY too much money.....but all good snack type stuff

I had some sweet potato pie from Alissa cookbook as a snack while cooking dinner for the family. I didn't make it with crust and at first wasn't too sure about it , however as it has sat a couple days in the fridge it is REALLY yummy now.

Dinner will prob be a salad with avacado or maybe a fruit smoothie, that always feels like dessert to me!:)

My goal for this month is to get back on the weight loss wagon! One day down! Good luck everyone!

Just popping in to say happy April. This week has been incredibly busy so far and staying raw has helped me to keep an even keel and not get stressed out...

I'm in love with my breakfast green smoothies (I'd marry them except I'm already married ;) ). They taste like sunshine, give me a sugar buzz and get me moving in the morning.

I had guac and celery for lunch, snacked on bananas and had Rawvolution Thick 'n Thin Sprouted Lentil Chili for supper.

I'll be making yet more BBQ Chicken Fingers (Alissa's) soon - I can't get enough of those things (with Honey Mustard Dressing....oh!)

Best wishes to all for a rawtacular journey this month!

Happy April Fools Day! I was all-raw most of last month but got a little derailed by a trip to my great aunt's. But I'm back on track now --

breakfast - GS
lunch - enormous salad with cabbage, bok choy, avocado, tomato, sunflower seeds and a couple handfuls of sprouted lentils. Spilled the dressing from the bottom of the container in my lap and spent the rest of the day smelling like garlic and Braggs. :)
snacks - dates and cashews, apples
mid-afternoon - another GS
dinner - nori rolls with cauliflower/carrot "rice"
dessert will be banana, carob and flax seeds

I'm trying to eat more greens... it's difficult to fit them all in! But I think I can get used to it.

Rawkinlocs- "Wow!" on the new sexy pic

Starfire- Congrats on one year!!!!! That is an accomplishment to be proud of!

Made it through day one- it was actually pretty easy- no cravings, but I am beginning to feel the start of a detox headache coming on tonight.

Today's Food-
roiboos tea and a quart of lemon water
watermelon
guacamole with Chili Lime Uncorn Chips (Serene Alison)
handful dried apricots
huge dinner salad-romaine, carrots, cucumbers, apples, raisins and hempseeds topped with sliced agaveed strawberries and lime juice, mmmm!
Lots of water and a lil kombucha

My 16yo ds made the above salad and he did such a great job!

I made a berry blend today-strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries drizzled with agave-for tomorrow
I also made RP brownies with my own homemade icing for tomorrow

Looking forward to the days ahead.................. :)

Wahoo, one month under my belt and welcome to the next. I lost 5 pounds so far and started doing cardio 5-6 days a week. Feeling GREAT! I'm also starting a gentle 15-day detox cleanse.
Today:

Sesame oil pulling & dry skin brushing

2 TBSP ACV
Juice of two grapefruit
About 8 scrumptious whole dates
Large handful celery sticks
A big orange

Lots of raw cashews
3-4 bananas
Several lychee nuts
Sliced cucumber
Canteloupe

Orange/banana smoothie
More cashews
2 bananas
TBSP coconut oil

I think maybe I didn't get quite enough to eat today. I was at my parent's house and they are very NOT vegetarian! So I ate what I could and stayed strong.
My intention is to enjoy strength, energy, joy and beauty by giving my body the fuel it needs and the conditions to flourish.

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to be part of a group challenge! I'm also starting the challenge today with my non-virtual friend... :) Hoping that this challenge will help my energy level, mood, and mental clarity. A hot bod at day 30 wouldn't be too bad either! ;)

Today my friend and I kicked off the 100% raw challenge with an indulgent meal at Cafe Gratitude but I will mostly be making my meals at home.

Breakfast: 1 Banana... I was rushing out the door and didn't have much of an appetite.

Lunch: Awesome spread at Cafe Gratitude (details over at the restaurant section of the board) complete with a wheatgrass-based green smoothie.

Dinner: Nori wrap- 1 sheet of Nori stuffed with some zucchini, tomato, baby carrots, and a teeny bit of avocado.

Today was probably high in fats but I am proudly resisting the SAD cakes and other yummies in my fridge so I am satisfied. :o

Good morning Day Two!

Didn't get to post on Day 1 cuz both my babies are sick (boo), but so far raw has kept me from getting their horrid stomach bugs...so yay raw!

Anyway, plan for the day:
Green smoothie (made a gallon)-throughout the day
bananas
green apples with cinnamon almond butter
salad (spring mix greens) with sunflower seeds, olives, avocados, and red bell peppers with a salad dressing i just whipped up in the vitamix (we'll see how it is  )
and dinner i'm thinking zucchini pasta with spinach pesto

exercise? not happening today, working crazy hours so i can be home early to relieve dh from being the nurse see he can get a few hours of work in (he works from home)...so maybe tomorrow:p

I've lost 5 lbs in the last two weeks at less than 100% raw, so very excited to see what happens after these 30 days of 100%

I was SOOOO hungry last night - ate 1/2 avocado and too many sunflower seeds..I need to prepare some juices and smoothies for today to keep my hunger at bay

finished my federal taxes yesterday - and the horror of having to write that check may have sent me into starvation mode

well, gearing up for another raw day

AM fruit smoothies
lunch - mega salad
pm veg smoothies and juices
dinner - mega salad

the food plan really doesn't change from day to day - little variations here and there - tried the home dehydration thing a few years ago and it just wasn't for me

stay raw, my lovelies

Hello everyone and happy day number 2. I made some 'cinnamon buns' last night so will try it today - not sure how it will turn out. Lately dehydrated things are very unappealing to me - crackers, etc. - just too dry. If I have a ripe avacado I want to make a wrap with lettuce, avocado, onions, tomatoe slices, and olives with nut dressing and roll up. Sounds great to me! Simple, yet indulgent. Anyway...hope to get some exercise in today. Yesterday did not meet that goal - I was up though and moving the entire day until ll:00PM on my feet - that has to count for something! Have a good raw day :)

Good morning everyone! I struggled yesterday, but only briefly and DID NOT cave! I feel stronger today, and would love to get to the Y to workout. My 13 year old DS was up most of the night with some stomach virus:eek: It was terrible and he is still in alot of discomfort with his stomach.

I am extremely tired and the first thing I wanted was _______ I won't name it, but I must've thought about this on Monday and threw it away, so I couldn't have any!!!:D

So far I've had:
kombucha
black tea
I will have:
apple medley (my usual breakfast)
lunch will be a great big GS!!
Dinner???? not sure yet. I did not get to make any hummus yesterday because we were so busy with the baby, so maybe I'll get to make that (we were keeping my niece, but could not keep her because DS is so sick!!)

That's it for me so far! I am really lovin' that my body is CRAVING MOVEMENT!! I want to exercise, so I'm looking forward to really seeing some changes this month!!

Take care and have a RAWESOME day!!!

Okay day three for me and so far so good.

I have a general question for everyone. I know this is a 100% raw challenge and all, but what do you do when out with friends and you order a salad? I know the recommendation is to use cold pressed oil and lemon juice, but that just doesn't cut it for me. I am not an oil and lemon juice on her salad kind of girl. In the past, I would just get one of the healthier sounding house dressings (e.g. a house-made vinaigrette) and consider that good enough for eating out. Also, if the salad came with nuts, I would go ahead and eat them, even though they were probably roasted. Anything else that wasn't raw (e.g. croutons, and all non-vegan things like cheese, eggs) I would leave off. I hate to bring things along with me like my own dressing and stuff since I am not always coming from home and it isn't convenient.

Does everyone else just stick to the cold pressed oil and lemon juice?

I just wanted to post quickly (again, sorry for the double post)

RAW HOPE: I started out with the small round dehydrator to give it a try and within a year realized I wanted a big one, but you can save for a big one, but enjoy getting some great dehydrated goodies!! I also want to say I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR SIGNATURE!! I had to edit this to add: for breakfast I usually have: 1 chopped apple, 1 sliced banana, some walnuts, either a drizzle of evoo, or a drizzle of melted coconut oil (depending on what I have) some sea salt, and some nutritional yeast (if I have it) or you could "top" your fruit with even a drizzle of honey....make it your own, but I love the crunchy sweet of the fruit, crunch of the nut and little salty!!

STARFIRE: Congrats on your one year. I can hear "Blue" the bear singing with the jungle boy, "I wanna be like you-oo-oo"http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj78/Abercrombie002/jungle.jpg You are such a wonderful role model! Thank you for all your loving support!

KRISTI7MARK: If you see this, where did you get those chip...chili lime uncorn chip?? Is there a recipe, or were they ordered. For some reason they sound so yummy. I love guacamole and salsa with chips, but don't really like corn chips...corn tends to send me into cravings....

Ok...I'm done

Hope everyone has a great, wonderful day!

B-strawberry, hemp, almond smoothie
home-made puerh-based kombucha
L-collard rollup, raw lemon macaroon from Deva Khalsa
S- temple orange
D- ? i'll update and let you know after I shop

I'm thrilled to write that I did FINE last night in a cooked food restaurant. (This was my first time.) I had salad with lemon and though it was not my usually super nutritious foods, I did just fine and had a wonderful time being with friends. I knew I'd had great food yesterday and could have more when I got home.

:D Day 1 went very smoothly - if every day could be like that, the next 30 days should not be too hard! The morning started with a smoothie like yesterday, except for the cashews (I THOUGHT something was missing). For the rest of the day I will have fruit, mock salmon pate (which I made too salty) maybe diluted and vitamix into a soup, greens and maybe some goji's as snack.

Have a great raw day everyone!!

Sheesh... I'm on Day 2. I had coffee on the last day of March because I procrastinated so much I HAD to pull an all nighter. Now, sheesh, I'm back to needing coffee.

Not that I've had any. I hadn't had ANYthing nonraw, esp. coffee for nearly two months when that happened.

Sooooo, I woke up two hours later than usual this morning, groggy as heck. Having a weird period. Had the munchies. Forgot to oil pull. Took me about an hour to do 10 minutes worth of stuff.

And now I'm sitting here like a zombie, trying to get work done ... but here I am at RFT! :D

Not having any coffee, though. That's for sure.

This morning, I had a green smoothie with 2 naners, beet leaves and some chard... And a whole bunch of munchies full of sugar. No idea why I did that!

Feeling full as heck.

Hey all!

I forgot to join yesterday so here I am! I am already on day 18 but I will pretend for convenience sake that this is day two!

Hope everyone is doing well!!

I had 'muesli' for breakfast: cashews (questionably raw), a medjool date chopped up, dessicated coconut (questionably raw), sunflower and pumpkin seeds and a chopped apple with a splash of water over it and mived it all up. Yum love it! I designed it about a week after being raw. Try it!!

Im not very good at making a whole meal every time I want something to eat so I mainly snack :o I've snacked so far on some raw white almond butter, lots of cashews ( ) and a medjool date. I need food now!! I also made I gigantic fruit salad yesterday so I may have some of that :D

I have noticed that since becoming raw it has changed from a conscious effort into habit! Anyone struggling, it will get easier! Keep going! :D

Enjoy your day!!

D-Collard Rolls!

OMG, those collars rolls was gooooooood! And filling! Im so stuffed right now...

I didnt have bragg liquid aminos, so I tried what carolg sugested, and marinaded the mushroom and onion in olive oil and lemon(plus some dried basil). It tastet so good! YUM! :D

Im definitly having one more later to day.

Also, I've decided NOT to follow Alissas program in her book, by the simple reason; I cant get all the ingredience and dont know what to replace all off them with. So, instead Im going to make my own program. :) (Im going to have the carrot pecan burgers tomorrow! :D )

Sriraw: as far as eating out in restaurants, here's my two cents. I don't really like salads, and definitely don't like oil and vinegar dressings. So when I go out to eat, I plan ahead and either bring my own dressing (I keep it in a little travel shampoo bottle in my purse) and an avocado, or I just squirt lemon on top. I didn't think I would like that, but had to do it in an emergency once, and it was actually delicious. As for the nuts on top, I don't eat them, mostly because the cooked versions don't taste good to me anymore. I don't go out to eat very often, and try to schedule social gatherings around things other than food. But ultimately, do what works for you and helps you stay raw.

Okay, checking in. I started the day with a "cinnamon roll" Larabar and then had my workout class, which was super hard this morning. I want to have just juice before those morning workouts, but the Larabar was faster. After the workout I had two awesome oranges. For later I have a yummy green smoothie (kale, apple juice, bananas, coconut oil, pineapple), some raw lemon cookies, and one of my favorite concoctions: bananas, hazelnut butter and honey on cinnamon flax crackers. I need to go to Whole Foods tonight because I'm out of food, so I'll probably eat dinner there at the raw food counter. I'm feeling like the raw tostada, but I'll have to ask for extra avocado and "sour cream." They always skimp on those! Tonight I hope to do some uncooking so I can get out of my food rut.

Oh, and after working out for an hour and a half last night, I've lost half a pound so far on this challenge! I'm excited, especially since I only lost one pound in March.

Hi Everyone!

Still sick today so haven't had too much to eat. I had grapes this morning when I woke up and then an apple a few hours ago. I am planning on some carrot juice in a little while. I stayed home from work again today and have been mostly sleeping - I'm really hoping to kick this thing so I can go to work tomorrow!

Everyone's meals sound so delicious! That cinnamon almond butter on apples is definitely appealing to me!!! I might have to do that when I get home!

GuruRas Kaur: Great job when eating out! I am not that confident yet, but I love hearing great stories about it going so well! It makes me feel more comfortable about venturing out to eat!!

So far:

Breakfast: A pear, green juice, almond-banana milk (My stomach was not feeling anything else, yucky feelings inside!)

Lunch: A tiny salad (started it but was so not feeling it either) with corn, onion, garlic, mustard greens, and pistachio-taco-meat; now instead I am eating the snickerdoodle recipe (not dehydrated) mixed in with some almond-banana milk. So good!!! Definitely feeling that. And a pear.

Snack later: Baby carrots with salsa!

Dinner: Not sure yet... Either a salad, "raspberry cream soup", or a green smoothie. I'm not feeling anything too heavy today! I might change my mind by the time I get home though!

(I am LOVING having my new food processor!)

Hi everyone. Day one was great, here's the plan for day two ~

Started the morning with a gs of spinach, strawberries, a banana, and a few frozen grapes. Lunch was a few cherry tomatoes, and a small bowl of taco meat with corn and onions, and some flax crackers. I'm taking a big salad and a few pieces of fruit to work with me for dinner and snacks.

I have a tray of onion bread and some pecan carrot burgers in the dehydrator. I have always loved to cook so this "uncooking" is very satisfying!

Hoooowdy!

Well, I'm more than halfway through Day Two of my RAW CELEBRATION.

I have a mild getting-used-to-it headache, but other than that, am doing pretty good. I went out with a friend today for lunch and had a fruit salad and herb tea. A big deal for me because I worried that I wouldn't be able to go out with friends to eat anymore and was feeling kind of sad about it. I've always loved spending time with friends over a cup of tea or a meal. So, I'm glad to know that socially I can have my raw cake and still eat it, too!!! :o)

Today I had:

Breakfast: GS with banana, blueberry, E3Live and dandelion greens
Snack: Thawed homemade grapefruit juice (about 2 of 'em)
Lunch: California rolls (parsnip & tahini w/braggs for "rice" with avacado and cucumber rolled in raw nori) -- I made this one up and it was GOOD!
Snack: Another smoothie with banana, blueberry and raw green grass powder
Dinner: Not sure, yet... Maybe a raw veggie soup?

Thanks for your support, and I'll keep on truckin'!

Hello all!

Food today:

banana
apple
huge salad with cabbage, swiss chard, sprouted lentils, half an avocado
quart of thick green smoothie
piece of coconut oil carob candy
nori rolls with carrot/cauliflower/broccoli
piece of coconut oil carob candy
banana with raisins/carob/dried coconut/little bit of almond butter

I'm doing fine sticking to all-raw, but am eating everything raw in sight. It's frustrating -- my first six weeks of all-raw I was just fine, enjoying the food, exercising at least four days a week and usually more, feeling very satisfied with what I was eating. Now I'm eating a LOT, more than my stomach is comfortable with, and still wanting more! And I'm too stuffed to exercise.

Ah well, at least it's all raw, and isn't as bad for me as if I were eating tons of my SAD favorites. I think I'll try to drink mostly green smoothies for the next couple days, though, since I think that'll help me get over this.

Parsnip: you poor thing! I hear ya on overeating, even raw. Maybe, (just my opinion) are you getting a variety, and even if you are, maybe your body is craving something new you've never had before. I remember one summer while I was raw, I was all of a sudden CRAVING watermelon. NOW, I HATE watermelon....my WHOLE life I WANTED to like it, I tried it every summer because I liked the way it smelled and everyone else talked about how good certain watermelons were......this particular RAW summer, I finally broke down and bought (at my DS's request) a quarter of a watermelon.....I ate the whole thing by myself! It was sooooo good! Now I LOVE watermelon, cantelope, etc. when before I NEVER liked them even as much as I tried! Maybe your body wants something you THINK you don't like???;)

My foods for the day....as rough as my day was with fatigue from getting up at 2 am with DS and never getting back to bed:

B: apple medley, tea, kombucha, love kombucha!!
L: green smoothie:D
Snack: 2 handfuls of cashews...too many but it's been awhile since I've bought them and they were sooo good!!
Dinner: hummus (finally!!:p ) with carrot sticks....YUMMY!!

Looking forward to going to bed...NOW!

Peace.

Another good day Raw. Although I think I may have overdone it on the cashew butter that I had gotten. Quite snacky all day even though I was out of town and working. See, brought enough to snack on.
B-Raw Organic Fiber Chocolate Delite Bar
B2- 4 kiwi
L-pico de gallo cucumber falafel tahini salad (finally finished all leftovers but will make again because I really like it and it's filling)
S- 3 bananas with 2Tcashew butter (1/2 and 1/2 3hrs apart)
D-Cauli Spanish rice (leftover and now gone) then 2 t cashew butter
S2-raisins then 1t cashew butter with about 10 cacao nibs placed on it

See what I mean about the cashew butter. But it was good. See if there is any impact tomorrow.

I finished day two of being raw, can't lie - i had a handful of carmel popcorn but otherwise was all raw.

B=GS (spinach, chard, celery, frozen apple, banana, frozen grapes, almond milk)
L= Pesto Zucchini Pasta - first time making raw pasta and it was delicious! Anyone have any suggestions for different sauces?
S=GS - same as above, made extra this morning
D= A handful of raw nuts

I seem to make a lot of meals based on avocados or nuts. I know good fats are ok, but am afraid I might be eating to many...any advice or good recipes to share?

Good Morning All! I'm not sure what's going on here, but I'm up early today (for me :) ). Day two was a complete success, although I'm not crazy about the burgers and onion bread I made yesterday, too strong of a Bragg's flavour. Need to cut back next time, oh, and I processed the burgers too much? Did not care for the texture, but now I know.

Fruit for breakfast, an orange and two bananas. GS for lunch. Marinated asparagus and carrot pecan burger for dinner. Fruit and nuts and dates if I need snacks. I feel like a million bucks!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Today is starting out WAY better than yesterday. I'm feeling the raw energy, carried over from a pretty good month last month!

I'm planning a great day. I made hummus last night, and plan to make blueberry pie today.

For breakfast:
tea, apple medley (I hope I have an apple left!) and my banana might be TOO ripe to eat (I'll freeze it) and just have apple and walnuts, maybe grind some flax to sprinkle on??? I could always make a GS....that might be my choice at this point!

Lunch will be carrots and hummus (my celery was bad and had to throw it out) if I can get to the grocery store early enough and get some celery I seem to REALLY want!

I want some taco's for dinner! Guacamole, with walnut taco meat, with fresh salsa on a purple cabbage leaf (roll) Yep, I think I'll have this if DS is well enough for me to get to the grocery store!!

Everyone is doing to great!:D Keep up the good work!

Morning everyone!!

I didn't make it to the grocery store yesterday, and ended up eating pretty much just fruit and nuts all day. But I lost another half a pound this morning, so I'm not fretting about it.

Today will be 2 oranges, my green smoothie from yesterday that I never drank, and some avocado on onion bread. Then I need to hit the grocery store! For dinner I'm thinking zucchini pasta with marinara sauce and some of Alissa's walnut fudge. I'm having some friends over for dinner who are SAD eaters, but my local grocery store makes these amazing "dinner for two" things, so I'll just pick one of those up and heat it for them. I haven't seen these folks since before I went raw, so it will be really fun to see them and be 55 pounds lighter than I was the last time I saw them!!

I don't know when I'll fit in some exercise, but maybe I'll just take my dog for a long walk after the guests leave. Plus, rushing around trying to clean my house before they arrive should burn some calories! :D

Rawk on everybody!!

Checking in. Still having a hard time concentrating after that stupid small amount of coffee toward the end of March.

I had a GS today with (organic that I froze) frozen strawberries, bananas, carrot tops and some chard. Starting to get the hunger pang. Will probably have some cukes with ACV, a touch of olive oil and some herbamare.

Or maybe something else. I honestly cannot remember much about what I have in the fridge except that it is pretty varied!

Sheesh.... I really want to get the house cleaned and to get my work done, but that dagom coffee. I seriously am back to square one (well, almost but not really) with my ADD symptoms. Ick. ::::::::::Smacks self in forehead::::::::::::: Note to self: There is NOOOOOO reason to have coffee. Ever!

So, here it is day four for me since I started on Monday.
Yesterday I went out to lunch with friends and got a salad with lemon juice. It wasn’t all that satisfying, but it was raw. Unfortunately, I forgot to pack my usual afternoon snack of fruit and I was just so hungry by the time I got home at 5PM. I think if I remember to pack some raw crackers or nuts when I do the restaurant thing, it will make it a lot easier to hold out until the next meal. I am finding that just a little bit of fat makes all the difference for me in keeping full and not getting tempted to raid the vending machine or something like that. I was really proud that I made it until I got home. I have an hour and 15 minute commute home and I kept seeing restaurant billboard ads along the way home and it was making me so hungry. I told myself when I got home that I could eat whatever I wanted (as long as it was raw). Actually, I ate a lot less than I did the first couple of days. Thank goodness, since all that I ate Monday made me nervous about what the raw food diet was going to cost me. I would also like to lose about 10 pounds, so anytime I can control my hunger/cravings and eat a bit less will be a good thing.

I am marinating some sunflower seeds right now as a gift to my BF. He isn’t raw, but he has a long commute like me too and I want to give him some healthy snacks to have on hand. It is a Boutenko recipe that you dehydrate after marinating for 12 hours. Just some agave, salt, turmeric and cayenne pepper. I used a lot more cayenne than the recommendation since I like it hot. Hoping it turns out well and he loves them…..

So far so good for me. I start my day with a green smoothie and then eat fruit until dinner which is a large salad including an avacado. I think I might have over loaded on bananas yesterday as I think I had about 8 or 9 but I was hungry and all I had was bananas.
I really like that there is this support group so thanks everyone and I agree that everyone is doing great!

Yea!! Day 3 of being 100% raw. I have to admit, I've been slightly cranky but that might be for a certain female reason. I've only been on the raw diet for about a month - doing it at 75-80% - so have experienced a lot of the detox effects as well as the more positive mindset. I am anxious to have it back (the positiveness)!!

I just love coming on here in my lunch time and reading everyone's energy! It's so high, and so motivating. Plus, the meal plans... Mmm. Good thing it is lunch already, or I would make myself hungry!

My stomach was pretty upset yesterday so I kept it very light this morning, but I'll eat more as the day goes on, if my tummy is feeling it. The plan is...

Breakfast: Lots of water, 1 banana
Snack: Apple
Lunch: Tiny salad (greens, garlic, tomato, onion), apples, lots of blueberries
Snack: Larabar (If up to it!) or Corn (I LOVE Raw corn.)
Dinner: A HUGEMONGOUS salad

I have class tonight, but there's a Pax Wholesome Foods nearby, so I'm planning on picking up a huge salad and some fruit. If I'm still not feeling it in my tummy, I'm going to get some fresh made juice and make a green smoothie when I get home.

Holy shit, I've run out of food, and I already spent twice as much as I usually do on groceries...not so good for my student budget. And I'm hungry as hell, too. Perhaps I will figure out a way not to eat so much, but I get the feeling that doing so will starve myself because I'm fairly athletic...and also if I sense I'm being deprived I'll binge.

Good news is no cheating today. Bad news is my stomach, which is used to its nice bit of whole grains, isn't liking the raw soaked ones so much. Perhaps that will pass? Anyone else have experience with that?

iamacranberry-- Yes, you will go through a lot of food in the beginning, but it tapers off. And yes, it can get expensive. I believe Amberstorm has a blog about doing raw on a budget; that may help. If I limit the prepared raw foods that I eat and stick with mostly veggies and fruit, I end up spending less on food than I did before I was raw (mostly because I don't eat out any more, and the few times that I do it is cheap because it's just a salad). When I order the fancier prepared stuff, raw ends up being way more expensive than SAD. I just think of all the money I'm saving on doctors and prescriptions though.

So far, the most expensive thing about raw for me has been the fact that I have had to buy a whole new wardrobe every two months! :D

Still going strong on day 3. Yesterday was hectic and I only had a mango and an apple. So far not seeing much at all in terms of weight reduction so maybe that will start to change soon.

B: juice-chard, celery, cuke, lemon, & apple
L: collard green roll up, faux salmon pate with flax crackers & 2 raw macaroons, mango
D:Caesar salad: will use Alissa's Caesar Salad dressing recipe
S: mango & pineapple

more play time with the dehydrator tonight!

It's amazing that I'm so faithful to staying raw. I think I'm able to do this really because I love the food. I keep reminding myself that I'm eating what I love and not worrying about the calories. in fact I'm eating the most healthy way possible.

It's extraordinary, really!

Hey Folks,

I was feeling worse today so I went to the doctor and they confirmed that I have the flu. I didn't even know that they had a test for the flu! So I am home from work until at least Monday. The doc gave me a prescription to limit my coughing, but I've been thinking that I'm trying to get rid of all the old toxins in my body, and I don't really need to add any new ones! So I filled the prescription in case of an emergency, but so far have just been gargling with salt water, which seems to do the trick.

I received my RAWvolution box in the mail (late). It came with a dessert called Pecan Crumble, and I'm thinking of making some banana ice cream and mixing it together. I have been wanting carrot juice all day -- hopefully my hubby picks up some carrots at the store tonight!

Raspberry4: My prayers are with you and your mom. Hopefully everything went OK!

What LONG day!

BReakfast was a GS that I shared with my hubby wih tpear banana and spinach and collard greens

a banana snack

Lunch was salad

later a lara bar and then dinner was a salad again (at a tiki bar)

I struggled and struggled and chose not to have a glass of wine or a fun coctail with dinner! It was tough!

Off to bed bow. Hope tomorrow is easier!

Lots of green smoothies today! And fortunately I made on that was really good... would have been a shame to drink 3 quarts of less-than-delicious smoothie, but I've done it before. Even when they don't taste very good, they still make me feel good!

green smoothie, part 1 (bunch of spinach, four small apples, a spoonful of pureed dates, a big handful of parsley, and an orange)
banana
green smoothie, part 2
apple
2 coconut oil carob candies
green smoothie, part 3
nori rolls with red pepper and raw hummus w/nutritional yeast

I finally tried raw hummus, and I'm really surprised how good it is! I ate a few of the sprouted chickpeas and I didn't like them very much, but I figured I'd give it a try. I used a recipe from Gone Raw rather than Alissa's, but hers sounds even better, so I'll try it next time. It still has a little of that starchy/beany taste that I don't really like, but the lemon and garlic almost cancel it out, and the texture is amazing! I'm almost out of olive oil so I only used a tablespoon rather than half a cup, and it's still great.

I really like the nutritional yeast with it, too. Nutritional yeast is controversial -- it's not actually raw, and some people have MSG or "cooked food" reactions to it. I plan to use up what I have, though.

Just finished blending up a HUGE beautiful bunch of kale for tomorrow's smoothies.

Greengrubber, I totally hear you about not having the dramatic results that other people do. I was all-raw for 6 weeks, and while I did have a bit more energy and lost 10 or so pounds, I didn't feel that much different. I was off raw for a week and now I'm back; wating for that raw glow! Or at least for my skin to clear up. :( I think raw food just works faster on some people than others. I've got a lot of weight to lose and I've always had a cast iron stomach, so I think my body just changes slowly. But I'd still rather eat this way than how I was eating; I know I'm on the right track, even if it's not the fast track!

parsnip... you'd be surprised by how different you may actually look. I know when I look in the mirror - I didn't really see that much of a difference for a long time...

but OTHER people noticed and commented ... I'd go home and stare in the mirror and think..."what in the world are they seeing?"

I think we have a tendency to be hard on ourselves... I know I have what I call 'fat mentality'.... I still reach for a larger size when buying clothes and I'm always shocked when they're too big... and I still see the 'fat girl' in the mirror... nor (even after a year) do I see the raw glow that everyone is talking about! But -- others have comment to me about how 'radiant' I look.. so.... what you see in the mirror -- may not be an truly accurate!!

After 6 weeks raw -- I'm sure you're glowing and radiant.. you just may not see it! ;)

Hi Oceanee, looks like we're always the early rawbies :D

Yesterday was tough, I have a major lack of sleep right now due to sick babies, and I noticed when your tired, you just want to eat BAD things...but I didn't.

Though I did a huge spoonful of raw honey (questionable to some, but I'm ok with it), and about a cup of dates to take care of the sugar craving I was having, kept me from eating the chocolate chip cookies DH bought for himself (grrr...he's so bad).

Feeling better today thankfully...and babies are getting better, so the day is starting out easier than the past few days....

Today:
GS (usual gallon :D)
bananas
green apples
big salads with spring mix
fudge balls
flax crackers

...and then we'll see what else I need....

Have a great day!

Thank goodness for you guys! All the uplifting e-mails and StarFire – you are a cheerleader unto yourself! Thanks for all the support you guys! I really needed it last night. I got home really late and was so hungry for dinner. I so wanted to stop and pick up something non-raw on the way home, but I kept thinking, how am I going to post that I slipped up. Soooooo I waited till I got home and ate everything in sight. Thank goodness, because today I feel so much better than I would have if I ate SAD late in the evening.

Today I am working locally, so it is nice to not have that huge commute. I even drank my GS at home, not in my car on my long commute. What a joy! So, this is what I have on my plate for today

-Banana and celery/romaine GS
-Handful of the great “roasted” sunflower seeds I am making for my BF

-Sunflower seed pate (Angela Stokes recipe), marinated onions, and chopped red cabbage
-apple

-Dinner will be a salad at this really good vegetarian restaurant with a friend. So, this salad will actually be good and filling and unlike my iceburg lettuce/tomato/lemon juice salad I had out with friends the other day.
-And every night I have a huge spoon of honey sprinkled with cocoa nibs. It is heaven on earth and cuts my cravings (a bit) for sweets.

I probably won't normally post my days tally, since I still eat so much and so often it is hard to keep track of right now. In a couple of weeks when I am more comfortable with raw, I figure I will reign in my eating and try to watch calories, etc. I'd like to take off ten pounds, but for now just want to adjust to and stay rawwwwwwww!

Didn't get too post or read yesterday and back at it today. I hate missing a day, because you really miss a lot. And I am shamefully lazy at reading a backlog.

But...yesterday was good, all raw. (Will post on my blog)
Today started off with a banana/romain GS
Lunch will probably be some of my falafel pate with cuke. Love it!
Not real sure about dinner yet, will just what floats my boat later.

Have a great day you wonderful raw enthusiasts!!

day 19 of raw and it is becoming second nature

no cravings at all for cooked food - but do still feel hungry - trying to limit myself to two fruits aday but maybe need to up that

having an avocado, about 10 olives and quite a few sunflowere seeds daily

feeling fine and have scheduled an appointment with my doctor to get me off about half of my meds - enough already! (have already stopped 2 of them 4 days ago and I am still alive!!!)

definitely am "letting go" in all areas of my life, posessions, relationships, etc.

I released about 20 pounds of paper yesterday when I cleaned out my tax and business files.....feels good to release that much....aaaaaahhhhh

still donating and trashing lots of things around the house...don't want them, don't need them

stay raw, my lovelies

Sheila & MFK -- Welcome! :)

I woke up later than usual this morning, still having a tough time getting normalized after the coffee I had. And maybe I'm just run down from ALL of the extra work (which was the reason for the coffee when I HAD to pull an all nighter!)...

I should be more relaxed after the weekend and maybe will get back in the groove. Sheesh, I hope so!

Started with a green smoothie. Out of frozen bananas, so I just had a bunch of kale with apples. Boy, that was fibrous! I got my almonds from CA yesterday, and they were sooooo good! It's been so long since I had almonds since all of the pasteurization nonsense meant I couldn't buy them. I must have eaten 50 almonds. They feel better than eating walnuts or pecans, though, for some reason.

Soooo... thinking about making a cacao smoothie with the almonds. A very mild stimulant might not be a bad idea just to get me moving! It's already 11, and I've only done about 30 mins. of work! Ruh roh...

What do you mean by "stuff." What does that include? I'm still learning here. lol

Good morning :D

I'm having my green (purple) smoothie right now. For lunch I'm planning on another smoothie and some fruit. For dinner I'm planning on having a BIG green salad with my wonderful AVOCADO.

Just to clarify posting "slip ups," can we NOT do that? I mean, it would seem to help posting our slip ups so as to avoid having them BECAUSE we would have to post them. Does that make sense?

Have a terrific day!

Hi Everybody,

I'm still recovering and haven't felt like eating much. This morning I had a few dates when I woke up, and then I had the RAWvolution cucumber and watercress soup. I am not sure what I thought about it or if I would try it again! I could definitely taste a lot of garlic but otherwise couldn't taste anything else (probably just can't taste anything from being sick).

If I can get some motivation, I am going to make some banana ice cream tonight. Have been putting it off for a few days now. Other than that, will probably have an apple or two and some carrots.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi all,

This is my first post for the month. I have stayed raw but am on vacation in the Rockies and don't have readily available internet access which is why I haven't posted until now.

I've manage to stay 100% even though I'm far from home due to the following strategies:

-brought my vitamix along

-made it through the plane ride and 12-plus hours of travel Monday by eating fruit, a couple of larabars and drinking lots of water

-shopped at a Wild Oats mega-health food store to stock up before heading into the mountains

-ordered "The Box" from rawvolution.com. Rawvolution is a raw restaurant in CA that Fedexes several days worth of raw food to wherever you are in the US.

We are staying in a condo with a fully-stocked kitchen so I've been able to make my own food.

I also think that being 100% raw these past few weeks helped me adjust to the altitude much better than my husband did, who took about 3 days to adjust, whereas it only took me about 24 hours.

Bye all and have a great, raw day.

I'm still keeping up with this raw challenge, 100%! I'm so happy about my 4-day success. I can't believe how much easier it's been this time compared to others... I think this is just the right thing for me to be doing at this time. I feel soooooo great! I'm trying to eat lots & lots of greens—some green juices and smoothies, as well as one or two big salads each day.

I LOVE Alissa's mock salmon paté. I've been having it in little collard wraps & it's sooooo tasty and unbelievably easy to make.

Reading everyone else's posts is so inspiring for me! Thanks, everyone, for sharing your positive vibes and success stories. It's so wonderful to be sharing this journey with you. Rawk on, rawbies!

Woke up feeling a little sluggish today, but it may be just because I've been working a lot and I'm finally off today, or because it's a drizzly grey day.

Started with a blenderful off gs; spinach, cantaloupe and a banana. Lunch was flax crackers with green pea hummus. I made mock salmon pate for dinner, to be eaten on romaine leaf. I have some sweet potato chips and zucchini chips in the dehydrator for snacks for the next several days. I'm planning on an orange and pear for snacks this afternoon and evening.

Day 4 is awesome! I've had a huge, HUGE apple chopped with a banana and some walnuts, a drizzle (my LAST little bit of coconut oil) and some sea salt!! It was soooo much I could not eat it all!!!

For lunch (it was about 2pm) I was starving and had some hummus and celery stick...my tummy is growling again, and someone here mentioned having a spoonful of honey with cacao nibs...I think I'll try like a tsp of that and see if the sugar satisfies the afternoon sugar craving and gives me the energy to keep cleaning my house.

I worked out for the first time with WEIGHTS in about a year, and did so great, I was barely sore!!! I even lifted all the same weight amount except for 2 machines, so I was happy about that!!

For dinner I am having guacamole again...I had it last night and I just love, love, love guacamole!!

Peace ya'll!

That sounds amazing! I had an apple and a banana with my breakfast, but I think I will try mixing them that way next time. It sounds so festive and delicious. Congrats on lifting weights! You should look into resistance bands --- I am telling you, I get the same workout in WAY LESS time... And it's so easy to make it harder or easier depending on how you feel and what you need.

As for food today:

Breakfast: LOTS of water! A banana, apple
Lunch: BIG salad, but mostly romaine lettuce.
Snack/Dinner: HUGE juice: strawberry, raspberry, mango, orange, flax seeds...
Dinner/Snack: Probably something super light, because I am STUFFED from earlier... A small mixed greens salad, or some corn. Maybe a small amount of smoothie. I'm not sure yet!

I'm still adjusting to the taste of other greens. I did not like most vegetables at all, much less raw, growing up. Now I am starting to crave them! I do the green smoothie to try to get some more, after hearing everyone talk about it, and I think I'll slowly start mixing other greens into my salads over the course of this month!

sharthejoyshelia ... wow... 2004? so cool that you are back... Once raw -- always raw!! Gets ya hooked in there and then you KNOW where the path is... and well.... here you are... RAWk'n cool!

Banshee... hope the babies are getting better and better!! and that you get caught up on your sleep! I think its brilliant that you opted for honey (I'm okay with honey too!)... way better choice than chocolate chip cookies.. (unless they are raw chocolat chip cookies!)

smb106.... SNOW??? IT'S APRIL FOR GAWDs sake!!! I think it reached about 58 degrees last night and I thought I was going to turn into a popsicle! omg - I was freeezing!!

MKF... thanks for sharing the freezer fudge recipe! it sounds really scruptious!

sriraw... very VERY SMART.... just adjust to staying raw... the rest will follow! You know when i read your post -- I started thinking about my first month raw. I was surprised to realize that although I wanted to lose weight - that was not my focus! My entire focus for those first 30 days -- was just -- STAY RAW...what ever it took ... STAY RAW.... that was my concentration.

I walked everyday and did 100% RAW - and shockingly lost 30 pounds in that first month! I think you are very wise to just focus on staying raw... we gotta FIRST learn to LIVE on these live foods... day to day -- LIVing on these vibrant live foods... once it becomes like second nature like rawfifi wrote... then we have a way better chance of success.

When we provide our bodies with the nutrients it needs ... then our body can adjust and find it's true weight - heal and do all kind of wonderful things that it is designed to do... awesome!

protea... it's awesome your DH and DS are wanting those smoothies! that is so cool!

Hey, everybody! Welcome to the latecomers - better late than never. ;)

Starfire, thanks so much for your daily inspiration and encouragement!

I've eaten well today...
Bfast - GS - cucumber, romaine, oranges, banana, strawberries, blueberries
Lunch - romaine salad w/ simple vinaigrette
Snack - banana
Dinner - my favorite salad :) - romaine with crumbled BBQ Chicken Fingers, avo and Honey Mustard Dressing

I have granola (RFRW recipe) in the D now...it was delicious even before dehydrating. Yumski. I used raisins instead of cranberries and agave instead of maple syrup.

Hope you all have a joyous weekend! Keep on rawkin'....

Hey all,

A good day today. Less of a headache too, which was nice. If anyone wants to talk raw, feel free to message me. Keep it up everyone and be sure to track your results, either in a notebook or online, it really helps

Ok, I'm trying this again. I have been raw since the 1st (ok, 90%). Can you please point me to a thread on how to do this without becoming deficient or feeling like I am constantly hungry? I'm excited! :)

Hooowday!

I'm definitely a late-comer from a VERY busy day at work. But I stayed raw all day!!! *WHEW* I'm can be an emotional eater, and there were several times I felt the urge to stuff my feelings with food -- I resisted the urge. :D One more day of raw success.

Raw Celebration Day #4:

Breakfast: GS with bananas, blueberry & raw, green powder
Snack: 2 larabars, then grapefruit juice a little later
Lunch: almond pate, cashew pate, greens & flax crackers from a Portland, OR restaurant called "Veganopolis." Was fun to go out! :)
Snack: 2 larabars
Dinner: GS with bananas, blueberry, E3Live & chard
Snack: cashew butter on celery

Being a part of this 30-day raw event is really helping me stay on course. The posts are so positive and inpsirational, too. I'm feeling mighty grateful for it.

tomorrow will mark my third week of being raw

I plan to finish out the month and probably continue

this has been a very good experience...I've learned what I want to keep
in my life and what I am willing to let go - right now

I feel fine and "naturally" began stretching this morning - something I have
been "planning" to do

amazing how the mind works when the body starts to cleanse and heal

stay raw, my lovelies

Good morning! I'm still recovering from the flu, but this morning my fever has started to come down a bit. I had an apple for breakfast and am planning on carrot juice later this morning. I haven't planned out the rest of the day yet, but it will be RAW! :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good morning everyone!

Last night I ate way too many dehydrated treats and dried figs! I seem to do this and this morning I feel kind of blah. I have been 100% for 4 months and still seem to over-indulge on these items that I know that if I have one I will have 20.

Any advice? I guess I just need to stop buying them fo awhile.

I am off for a wlk/run right now. Then a GS. I have to put some time in at work today, but I'm hoping to make a nice salad for dinner.

have a great day!

Ahhh for a day off ! Moving slow today - it's been a long work year and it is catching up....emotional and not the raw cleansing emotional kind.

GS
salad
maybe zuke w/marinara

I plan to make some dehydrator goodies tomorrow as that always helps me to have plenty of choices when I work 12 hour days.I just haven't had time ...Soon....a bit back to normal(?).

smb106-Way to go on 4 months 100% . That is excellent and especially during a very snowy , thus days without sunlight up there in NH ( remember it well).

Banshee-Hope those babies are better and you get some rest over the weekend!!

Great raw day to all !

Day 5!! Started with a blenderful of gs for breakfast, and just finished packing my lunch pail for work; big green salad and a carrot pecan burger, and fresh pineapple cubes for snack. I'll take a couple pieces of fruit for "just in case". Midnight snack/dinner will be either hummus and crackers or chopped apple/dates/nuts.

I hesitantly stepped on the scale this morning ~ I've released 5 pounds since the first of the month!!!!!

Good afternoon all! I hope you are all having a beautiful Saturday, with tons of yumminess.

Congrats, Ms_Catherine on the weight release, so inspiring!!

Woke up late this morning -- at 11AM, whoa! -- it's been a long week with my students, but I feel pretty focused. Have a headache and some runny nose... Detoxing, perhaps?

This morning - lots of water, and am drinking a green smoothie now (cucumbers, mustard greens, collard greens, turnip greens, with watermelon-strawberry-kiwi, yum!) This morning I pureed the greens in the food processor before blending them and it has made everything much smoother. I'll be glad when I can invest in the Vitamix!

I think I'm going to make avocado soup for a mid-afternoon snack or early dinner. We're going out to dinner tonight (aka probably salad!) We are also going to the movies, and I think I'm going to stash my bag with dried fruits, fruit, and carrots so I have yummy movie-snacking food to resist temptations!

Sounds like everyone is doing great with the raw-ness. Okay maybe not those of you who are not feeling well with flu and perhaps a little detox. Way to listen to your body and get that extra rest.

Morning fruit of mango and a big juicy orange.
Lunch was the last of the falafel pate with tomato and sprouts samiched between two pieces of jicama. Pretty good and filling.

Reading Alissa's book and hoping to go shopping later for the week.
Keep up all your good works!

Into my second raw month. This idea is really getting trained into my mind and body and it's becoming my way of life. I love that. I have only lost about 5 pounds, but my body is looking GOOD!
This morning:
2 capsules of my gentle detox
sesame oil pulling
water
body brushing and cool shower
TBSP coconut oil
GS with grapefruit juice, whole orange, celery and spinach
YUMMY snack of blended walnuts, dates, coconut oil and raw cacao powder (I never crave processed sweets anymore!)

Off to my rebounder and elliptical now.

Reading "Awaken the Giant Within" by Tony Robbins and it's totally reinforcing my new habits! RESOLVE! ACTION! SUCCESS!

Good.....NO, GREAT AFTERNOON!! I had a house FULL of teenage boys last night. My DS had a "sleep" over for his 13th birthday, boy did WE have fun!! The boys ranged in age from 12 to 17. Anyway. After all but one left,(I left him and DS with DH) I went to the gym and got in ALL of the weight machines and some cardio. I ONLY had an apple for breakfast and by the time I got home I was starving and craving some sugar. Someone here said how they were craving sweets and had a spoon of honey and some cacao nibs....so I took this idea and put a sprinkle of cacao nibs in a cup, with some honey and then some cashews....mixed it all up, and this was so filling, and IMMEDIATELY I am not craving anything sweet. Oh yeah, I also sprinkled just a bit a sea salt! Thsi was such a good, quick snack, so THANK YOU to whoever posted this "recipe" earlier this week!! It saved my RAW life!!

So today's food has been:
an apple (plain this time)
honey/cacao/cashews
I'm getting ready to have a leftover (frozen in ice cube tray) GS!!

Dinner will be???? Not sure. I think I want some mock tuna or something.

Ya'll have a great raw day!!

Great work, everybody! :) I just got back from son's Little League game - it was so nice to be outside.

I had GS for breakfast - for some reason didn't want to drink all of it, so I have some left for a snack later - yea!

Lunch was green and purple cabbage with crumbled BBQ Chicken Fingers and Honey Mustard Dressing, also had 2 celery stalks w/a bit of leftover macadamia nut "cheese." Tasty.

I realized this a.m. that we're out of romaine  Guess I'll be going to the store later.

Today I didn't think about breakfast, lunch or dinner, I just ate when I felt hungry :)

So, this is what I have been eating today:

-GS(broccoli, spinatch, orange, lemon, kiwi, amaranth sprouts)
-fruits: bananas, aples, granade.
-nuts
-A plate with: sprouted bukwheat, carrot and marinaded mushromms, onions and garlic.

I've been eating more fruits today then the other days, but I think the reason is because I actually went to the gym today(which I've been saying to myself that I should do everyday this week, but not done :o )

Last night we went out to a pub and I just hoped they would have something raw! So I ordered the green salad without dressing - it consisted of a few pieces of Romaine, one cherry tomato and a few grated carrot pieces - but it was RAW, so very proud that I did not indulge in the typical SAD pub food, like my campanions!

So this morning, I had a super chocolate smoothie and then did a 2K walk with my family as part of a school fundraiser - was a fun experience! Then a coconut, vanilla, orange smoothie and a couple dates. Freshly made pear/apple juice was next and supper will probably be more fruit and raw chocolate bars my husband made for us!:D

Take care everyone - we are doing GREAT!!!;)
