Good Morning, Rawbies!
Had a busy last few days, so haven't posted, but its been all good...
Had my daughter's 2nd bday party on Sat., as well as celebrating mine and my husband's (yes, we're all within 5 days--super craziness!). Anyhoo, made some raw hummus, and ranch dip, and Ani's coconut kreme pie, and turned a few people on to the idea that raw isn't as yucky as they imagined, so happy with that. I won't get into my food for the weekend, but today....
HUGE GS,
avos
bananas
salad with hummus as dressing....
and probably more pie!
Everyone have an awesome day!!

Just wondered if anyone else noticed that as it seems to occur every month.
Yep. I've noticed it.
I think a lot of people have a hard time sticking it through for the entire 30 days. But I think going raw is like quitting smoking: the more times you try to do, the greater your chances of eventually being able to stick with it.
I just realized that I can't remember what the heck I ate yesterday! A cantaloupe for breakfast, a larabar and legume sprouts for a late lunch/dinner.

I also think it gets a little slim on postings over the weekend. But hey, it's week three. Also two-thirds down and one to go!!
Had 1/2 of a honeydew melon
later a GS
for lunch a marinate portabella with guac - man, I love those! YUM!
Worked out today....yea!
Have an excellent Monday!

Happy Morning Everyone!! Rawkinlocs, I've noticed how the numbers have dwindled. I personally think that when you have the slip ups....(Of course those DON'T happen;) ) you may take yourself OUT of the challenge by not posting. (I'm guessing that is what is happening)
I've been away for the weekend. I enjoyed a BEAUTIFUL weekend camping!!
We walked trails..I even had the energy to jump on a big jumping pillow that blows up and was large enough for kids of all ages to jump on, so me and another mother jumped with the kids....FUN FUN!! I had lots of great EVEN, PEACEFUL energy. Anybody know what I mean by EVEN ENERGY?? The nice peaceful, even energy you get from eating raw foods, not the jittery, hyper energy you get from caffeine and sugar!!
This weekend I had foods like:
salad, fruits, dates with nuts,
Breakfast was served on Saturday morning....and they (the campground) had lots of yucky cooked foods, but also bowls and platters of fresh fruits, so I PIGGED OUT on fruit!!
Today has been:
fruit, nuts, later, I will have a salad!
Loving how I feel!!
Ya'll have a great afternoon!
:D

Hey Everybody!
Yes, I definitely notice that lots of people drop out throughout the month. I definitely dropped out during my first couple of months on the challenge, but I've been sticking with it (no slip ups!!) since February 1. So I agree that you just have to keep trying.
Anyway, food yesterday: 2 glasses orange juice, 1 glass veggie juice, handful of cashews, big salad with mixed greens, broccoli, carrots, zucchini and Alissa's raw caesar dressing. Yummy! Then had more cashews and some kombucha for dinner. Didn't work out because I was working all day. We hosted a big picnic and the food all looked so gross! I was starving, but the cashews and veggie juice got me through.
Food today: 2 glasses orange juice, big cup of green smoothie (spinach, raspberries, bananas, pineapple, cashews, orange juice, vanillia--major yumminess!), another glass of oj. For later I have the rest of my veggie juice, and for dinner I have more of that salad from yesterday and some raweos for dessert. I had a really tough workout this morning, which was harder because I haven't been sleeping well and I was exhausted from yesterday.
But here's some good news--the wretched mood that I was in during the first week or two of April has vanished, and I'm back to my regular self. Thank God for raw!!

I've wanted to post on this thread, but I didn't know about it until a week ago. I read Cohen's book the weekend before last and started the challenge last Monday. So, I'm on day 8. I'm a complete newbie. I was going to wait until the May 30-day challenge to begin, but decided that while months give structure, they are pretty arbitrary. Plus, why put off until next month...
But, I wanted to post anyway because I peak in on this thread everyday.
Breakfast--green juice (kale, romaine, celery, cucumber, 1/2 lemon, 1 apple)
snack--2 cuties
Lunch--mixed greens and sprouts hempseed "ranch" dressing
dinner--collard wraps (from Cohen's book)
banana "ice cream" and fudge balls

Hope everyone is doing well :) Its actually day 38 for me!
I had two lara bars today, a big green smoothie, a date, some cashews, and half a pear (the other half was crushed in my bag  ) lol!
Ive realised though that after being raw for just this amount of time my apetite has really dwindled. Good thing I guess!

I have an excuse for being MIA!!! Sorry, though! I spent this week working 35 hours in a bar, 30 hours playing in a pit orchestra, and attending lectures and such for uni. It left me quite stressed...and as I said last post I don't want to just sit here and spread negativity. But I suppose that posting here does make me feel better if nothing else.

Hi all, I am glad to hear that everyone is doing so well and I am very impressed.
I seem to be hit hard with the effects of an intestinal infection I have struggled with the last few years. All the fiber in the raw food diet was really aggravating things. So, I backed off the green smoothies, etc. for a few days and kept it as low roughage as possible.
Hopefully another round of antibiotics will clear things up.
Very proud of you all.....

no...not antibiotics! Use them perhaps as a last resort...but the best way to be infection-free is to MAINTAIN a healthy body.

Good morning! I guess I'm the early bird again today. :) I'm starting out the day with another pina colada (pineapple, orange, coconut oil), and then I'll need to have something different tonight because I'm out of pineapple. :( I am in an all day meeting at work and they are bringing in lunch, but I've brought an apple, pear, avocado and some pecans. I plan to get a salad in the cafeteria and mix my avo into it. YUM!
Hope you all have a great day!

Hi All,
I've been so tired, I haven't eaten half of what I say I'm going to, and just going to bed without dinner as soon as I get the kiddies off to sleep...oh well, leaves more for the next day.
Today I'm looking at...
GS
bananas
salad
and who knows what else I can find...or if I can stay awake enough to eat it.
The good news...I'm down a pants size--YAY!!

Man, I hate it when that happens!!
I've had a great weekend, and am enjoying lots of fresh foods. NO recipes, except for the chili flax crackers that I made!

Good morning. I must be detoxing because I'm extremely low energy today. In fact, I slept about 9 hours last night! That's a lot for me.
I had my first GS in about a week just now. It was really delicious. My fridge is nearly bare because I'm trying to finish what I have at home before I go out and do a big shop again. So it's a bit challenging. . . any suggestions on something exciting to do with a head of lettuce and some celery?:D
Everyone have a great day.

I'm so grateful for Alissa Cohen today - it was her website that got me interested in a raw lifestyle. My eating habits are already a million % better than they ever were SAD. Amen! :)
B - GS w/oranges, lots of spinach, cuke, froz. strawberries, froz. peaches, and agave
L - romaine salad w/cashews, grape tomatoes, raisins, and Alissa's California Salad dressing
S - green grapes
D - Alissa's nut brittle (on the way to the ballpark  )
If I'm hungry when we get home, I'll likely have either another salad or guac on pizza bread or banana ice cream - in other words, I have no idea what I'll have but it will be raw! :)
Happy rawness to everybody!

Hey Everybody! Glad to see more people back on the board!
Food today has been a big glass of fresh oj, 3 raweo cookies, a big glass of green smoothie. I'll probably have another glass of green smoothie in a bit. Then for dinner I've got salad with Alissa's caesar dressing on it. I throw broccoli, zucchini, and carrots into the food processor and then add the dressing so it's kind of like a pate consistency. Then I add it to mixed greens and toss. It's really yummy, even though I don't usually like salad! Plus, when it's in pate form, I have more options of ways to eat it. I can put it on onion bread or celery sticks or anything I like. Cool, huh?
I'm going to a super geeky lecture tonight that's being hosted by my college alumni association. I'm hoping to meet some geeky boys! :p That's right, I'm taking this raw bod out on the town! ;)
Everyone is doing so great and staying raw and loving it. Let's rawk on to May!

Carlsbad, I have been so entertained by your posts that I went to read your blog. I just read your first posting sometime back in January and I have to say that you are incredible. You are able to articulate so well what I am going through with the raw-path and you have overcome it. You are also very funny and entertaining. You should write for Hollywood!
On my end, still dealing with woes from my intestinal infection. No fun and lots of pain/discomfort...

Hey again. I had to cut my first post short because I had already been on the computer for about 45 minutes, while my first 2 posts this morning got erased.
NOW, let me tell you something about how my GREAT camping weekend went!!
At the campground, I decided to just focus on fresh foods, which was easy because the campground had electricity (we have a pop up) and the grocery store wasn't far away. The campground also cooks a big breakfast on Saturday morning, but luckily I knew that they served fresh fruit, and this weekend was no exception. I served myself a HUGE plate of fresh strawberries, blueberries, grapes, pineapple, orange slices, and banana!! I really pigged out! I felt great later and walked trails and had lots of energy!
The campground also has a HUGE jumping pillow (for the kids;) ) and my friend and I both got up there and jumped with the kids. It's been a long time since I've had that child-like energy and we had a ball!
My foods lately are simple and appetizing. Right now I am dehydrating some mushrooms and onions to roll up in a nori wrap with carrot and zuke slivers! I can't wait!
Ya'll have a great night!

I don't know if Carlsbad's are the same cookies that I eat, but I get my raweos from highvibe.com. Sometimes my health food store has them too. The chocolate ones are not totally raw, but the other flavors are. They're very rich and delicious. I can only eat one or two at a time. I always eat mine with an almond butter/banana/vanilla shake. That's a full meal for me.

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z151/ambersmilies/aerobics.gifCan it be that I'm first!!
YIPPEE!!!
I have been up for awhile, searching the boards, looking for ideas...feeling great.
DH is going fishing today for the whole weekend with buddies, and instead of (in my head) planning to really "splurge" with the kids since he will be away, yes I will take the kids out, but to places that I know I can be successful staying raw!!
Today's food plan:
GS for breakfast, I finally got some bananas ripe enough (ok, this took leaving some bananas home while we went camping last weekend, and they ripened before I got back, I call "ripe" BLACK for freezing, for smoothies) otherwise, I eat the "kinda ripe" bananas and never get any to the freezer!
I don't have a clue what lunch will be....I have some zukes in the fridge? If I had tahini I would make hummus, but I don't have tahini, any ideas? Maybe a nut pate with celery sticks.
Dinner will be late, after church..so it might be a small salad.
I hope everyone has a great day!

Wendi, you beat me to the board this morning! :)
Yesterday I was wondering what would happen if I combined my pear and my avocado for lunch, so I cut up my pear and put avocado slices on top. Not sure if I was combining my food properly, but it tasted good and seemed to digest well also.
This morning I made a GS with spinach, blueberries, tangerine and coconut oil. I am really loving the taste of coconut oil in my smoothies and I notice that I feel more satisfied. Yesterday I had my smoothie for breakfast and then wasn't even hungry until lunch (usually I need a mid-morning piece of fruit).
Hope everyone has a great day!

Tvillemom: First, I love that you were so successful on your camping trip! And it sounds like you had a delicious time! Your energy and joy come through all your posts these days, and I'm so psyched for you and your raw journey! Now about those Raweos. I buy them from my Whole Foods store. They're made by Blessings Alive and Radiant Foods. You could probably find them online. My favorite are the chai ones. You could probably create them on your own though, as the ingredient list is pretty simple. But I'm lazy. :p
Sriraw: Thanks for the sweet post yesterday!! I do love to write, and had to start blogging because I rambled on waaaay too long on the challenge board!
Okay, on to food. I started my morning with some awesome chocolate hazelnut mylk (1/2 cup hazelnuts, 3 cups water, 1/2 vanilla bean, glug of agave, 3 raw chocolate truffles). Then I had a crazy workout in which I ran 2 miles!!! I don't think I've ever done that before! Even when I was a varsity athlete, I could never run. But I kicked butt and now I'm sitting here at work all stinky and gross. My lunch was awesome too: banana and strawberry slices topped with dehydrated buckwheat and hempseed, covered with that chocolate hazelnut mylk. Yum! Now I'm munching on some of those raweos because Tvillemom got me thinking about them.:p For later, I have my caesar salad concoction. Now I'm off to get more water because I'm thirsty!
Keep sticking with raw--everyone is doing so great!!

A Glowing afternoon to everyone!
This morning was a chocolate shake from a recipe I found since I kept reading Protea having them, and it was delish. Didn't follow the recipe exact had different ingredients, but still yummy. It called for water, I used the rest of my citrus kombucha. It is the best in a smoothie!
Seeds and nuts while running the roads, again.
Afternoon munching on 1/2 of a honeydew melon
Supper unsure, but plan on make the easy apple pie a little later.
Keep it raw!

1/2t vanilla extract
squirt of agave
some water
I have not tried substituting the water with something else, but might do that once I get tired of 'my' recipe!:D

Kombucha? In a smoothie, I would have NEVER thought of that! Sounds, like a great surprise, if it makes it that decadent.....are you sure it was the added kombucha?? I'm getting ready to try brewing my own, so this might be interesting.

Good morning! I'm just poppin' in to say that I'm enjoying a unique GS this a.m. :) It has 3 oranges, 2 big kale leaves, frozen peaches and agave. I can taste the kale but it's not a "oh, dang, there's kale in there" kind of taste. It just makes the fruit flavor more complex.
I made Rawvolution Mock Tuna Salad (without dulse - it really tastes like chicken salad w/dill pickles in it...mmm). I was going to eat it in a hollowed out cucumber but think this may be too "juicy" to eat that way. Oh well. Guess I'll eat it on top of a romaine salad then.

Today is the second day of my period, and I'm not really feeling like eating much. But I got ten hours of sleep last night, and I'm proud of myself for going to bed early! Also, I had zero PMS this month. That is huge! So hooray!
I started the day with three raw cacao truffles, then had my new favorite thing for lunch: bananas, strawberries, hemp seed, buckwheat in chocolate-hazelnut mylk. Yum! For later I have more of that caesar salad with broccoli, carrots, and zucchini. That dressing recipe makes a ton. Then I'll hit the gym after work for an intense cardio class.

A slight greenish banana for breakfast and out the door early. Of course, a few seeds & nuts. Later for lunch made zucchini pasta. Made Alissa's Almond butter balls, but with cashew butter and threw in some carob. Yum. Then pressed a teaspoon full between two walnuts. Yummy. If my bananas were just a tad more ripe, I think that would be a great addition. Made zuchinni hummus for tonight to have with a cuke.

Hi all....again, I posted earlier, but I think I was in a hurry, walked away from the computer without hitting "post" and my 10 year old got on his myspace without saving what I was doing. Oh well.
Today I've been alittle tired, but I think it's because DH is now out of town and I didn't sleep well.
Today has been:
GS
Salad w/ avo
not really hungry for dinner, so I had a pear....I guess I ate the rest really late, so the large salad with avo was an early dinner??!! I've been really thirsty, so I've been drinking water too!
I think I want to invest in a "sink attatchment" water filter....this would be a PUR filter or something like that, anybody have any suggestions? I am tired of lugging home gallons of distilled water, and of course I've heard that distilled is acidic, and "spring" water could actually be filtered faucet water???!!! Can somebody please give me some insight as to what you are doing??
Thanks all you 30-day-ers!!:D

Good morning! Yesterday was a busy day so I didn't get a chance to post. My hubby brought home a truck from work the night before, and then couldn't find the keys when he woke up... you guessed it, they were locked in the truck! So I had to drive him to work yesterday, and then last night we brought home a new kitty. My brother's friend had to move out of her apartment so she asked if we would take him. He's definitely skittish and I'm hoping that he will make friends with my other cats.
Anyway, I'm still hanging in there... I started to feel a little bit under the weather again yesterday afternoon and haven't been able to shake it yet. Every time I eat I am questioning whether I can keep it down, so I am going to keep it really light today. I had a little bit of green juice this morning and not sure what else is on my plan for the rest of today.
Hope everyone has a great day!

My SAD hubby asked me to make another Cafe Gratitude coconut cream pie - he loved the one I made last weekend. So did my SAD dad and my "interested in raw" sister. :D
Hope y'all have a terrific weekend.

Hi everyone,
I am starting to really get into the raw routine - in a good way!:p It's getting to the point that it's easier and I'm sure keeping it simple has something to do with it!
This morning was a choc/banana smoothie (my cacao powder finally arrived:D ) - snack will be banana and raw chocolate and lunch large green salad with zucchini hummus dressing and raw kalamata olives (to LIVE for!!) - I'll have to hide these as they are really pricey... and some more fruit.
A fabulous raw day to you all!

Good morning everyone. I was running around NYC all day yesterday so I didn't get a chance to post.
The good thing is that I went to not one but two raw food restaurants, including Pure Food and Wine which is really exquisitely gourmet. So much so that I overate and have a bit of a tummy ache today. Ah well, it was an incredible meal. Especially the sundae.
Think I'm gonna stick with oj and coconut milk today.:D
Enjoy your day, all.

Posting late but it's been a good raw day. Kind of strange with eating but at least raw.
GS - banana green leaf lettuce kombucha water
1 lg cuke w/zucchini hummus (I think I ate too much - really big cuke - felt blah after)
banana for snack
chocolate shake like a couple of days ago. Didn't know what I wanted and didn't feel like much.
Sounds like everyone is doing rawfully great!

Hi everyone,
This is the first time I'm first on this thread... well no wonder, our son woke up at 5:30am!! So I made us choc/carob (from Alissa)/banana smoothies - this has become our routine breakfast, sometimes adding cashews too.;)
Later will be an avocado, salad with the last of my zucchini hummus and fruit. I'm going to buy some more buckwheat to soak and dehydrate to make the 'Nestle crunch', since I just received my raw carob yesterday!!:D
Have a super raw weekend!

So I went to a party last night, and on my way home (it was after midnight), I stopped at the grocery store and bought my usual binge SAD meal. BUT--when I got home, instead of making it, I put it all in the freezer and went to bed! I stayed raw! And I'm eating raw today with ease. I'm going to take all the food to a couple of friends of mine who just had a baby. I'll make them dinner and get temptation out of my house.
I'm so psyched to have made it through that and stayed raw. When I really thought about it, I didn't even want the food.
Today I've eaten a banana and a fantastic apple so far. I'm going to take my dog on a long walk in a little bit, then I'm heading to Whole Foods for a wheatgrass smoothie and to restock. Raw rawks!!!

Hi all,
Today I'm mostly having green smoothie. Woke up and had a hanker for a whole head of kale!
I'm thinking maybe a seaweed salad tonight. Isn't it funny how your body just starts to be intuitive about what it wants?
Anyway, I hope everyone is having a great Sunday. We are going out to get some stuff for our garden. We're trying raised beds this year.

I'm craving greens....green juice mostly and my juicer still needs repair. :o I am DEFINITELY going to the post office tomorrow to send off the part that needs to be replaced.
I'm looking forward to May. I think I will fast at least 10-14 days for my birthday (at the end) Today has been alot of fruit and a green salad with spinach, cucumber, avo (mashed with herbs for dressing) and alot of water.
Peace.

I am enjoying green smoothies every day sometimes i have 2 or 3 a day!
I eat lots of fruit and end my day with a big green salad.
I am thinking of doing a fast in May but not sure which one yet I may do the master cleanse but it wont be raw as i would be using maple syrup so instead i may do a juice fast we'll see

With the month being nearly over, I'm planning to add back in some cooked foods come May. This was an interesting experience (these 30-day challenges always are,) but in the name of moderation and balance that I desperately crave, 80% or so raw and then continuing with my athletics seems to be the best balance for me, even if for the psychological factor (I can go out to eat with friends without getting a plain salad; I can have my cheap porridge oats for breakfast and not feel like I've messed up, etc.)
Today has been....
Banana
quinoa
loads of nuts
random pieces of fruit
handful of sesame seeds
and spirulina in water, since I'm out of lettuce and I did the math to figure out that the jar of spirulina actually provides more servings of greens for the money.

Even my DH who is addicted to coffee, has commented on this. That's why he'll be joining us on the next challenge!!:D Even my son who is not raw, LOVES this and has one every morning!
I am really glad that you are able to benefit from something I wrote - sometimes I feel that I don't contribute enough to this site!

Hey Everybody!
Didn't get a chance to check in yesterday, but stayed all raw with ease. I had cantaloupe for breakfast, fresh oj as a snack, raw nori rolls from Whole Foods for lunch (soooo good!), kombucha with just one handful of cashews for snack, and then lots of green smoothie for dinner. I'm starting a week of focusing on greens and fruits instead of vast amounts of nuts, and so far, so good. I woke up in the BEST mood today, which doesn't usually happen (I'm NOT a morning person! :p ) It does make me hungrier to eat this way, so I'm having to bring more food with me everywhere, but I'm feeling good and I'm ready for my weight loss to pick up again.
Food for today has been a big cup of green smoothie (prob 20 oz or so) made of: kale, bananas, orange juice, strawberries, pineapple, coconut oil, agave. So yummers! Then I went out to lunch with some friends and had a salad with mixed greens, cucumber, and those tiny tomatoes. It had sesame seeds on top, both white and black. They may have been toasted, but there weren't that many and I'm not sweating it. I just ate a raw cacao truffle. For dinner I have the rest of my raw nori rolls, and for snack I have an apple and banana. I also brought some raw almonds in case I get really hungry this afternoon before I head to the gym. But I'm going to keep it to one handful and not mindlessly stuff my face.
Keep on rawking it ladies!! We are almost to May! I'm already salivating over the yummy produce that is about to burst forth!

We are almost through this 30 days! Woohoo! I am already so excited for May. My "more fruits and greens" experiment is going really well. I've been doing it since Sunday and I've already lost two pounds!
I didn't make it to the gym yesterday, but I'm heading there today for an intense cardio workout and hopefully a weight circuit.
Today's food:
Breakfast and lunch: big green smoothie (about 40 ounces):spinach, bananas, pineapple, strawberries, mango, agave, coconut oil. It's good, but coconut oil plus frozen fruit doesn't work very well.
Snack/dinner: carrots with no bean hummus. I also have some almonds and an apple in case I get hungry before my workout.
Evening snack: melon! Summer is coming!!
Stay raw everyone, and reflect on what an amazing journey this month has been!!

Congratulations everyone for making it to day 30!!!
Today marks 2.5 months of being 100% for me, that's the most I've ever gone.
One wonderful change I've noticed is that I don't panic anymore if I don't have a kitchen full of raw food. I'm happy with whatever's on hand: some celery, some nuts, a handful of seaweed, whatever. In other words, I don't have to make elaborate recipes anymore to be satisfied (although I still like eating recipes).
The other big change for me that happened this month is that my skin is absolutely beautiful. Just glowing. And very soft and smooth.
Once again, well done everyone and I'll see you in the May challenge.:)

Woohoo!! Day Thirty!!! Awesome job everyone! This is my 90th day raw with no slip ups! I love that! Plus, I'm down another pound this morning, making three pounds gone in three days. Sweet!
Just finished a hard workout, and here's my food today:
Breakfast: banana and an orange
Snack/lunch: apple and 20 ounces green smoothie
Afternoon Snack/dinner: no bean hummus with carrots (I never got around to eating any of this yesterday, hopefully today I will)
Evening Snack: cantaloupe--yum!
I really want to make kale chips tonight, but I have to work late so we'll see what happens when I get home.
Huge congrats to all the rawbies who hung on through the April challenge! Let's get pumped for May!!

Going to add exercise in May and get bigger results (release that pregnancy weight)!
