hello all! i'm so excited to join this thread! i will finally have some people to talk to about living the raw lifestyle.
I discovered raw foods about a year ago. It sounds so strange to say it was "discovered" because it's so natural but i never realized it could be a way of life! Because I love to cook, it was an adventure for me to learn how to prepare raw food meals. Unfortunately I changed jobs and relocated twice so I quickly fell of the raw bandwagon. Once I finally settled, I made the committment to go vegan (best choice I've ever made) which resparked my interest in raw foods. I started experimenting again and found that the more raw I included in my diet, the worse I started to feel when I ate cooked meals.
I spent the past weekend in Boston. I would eat raw all day and evenings would treat myself to a nice, light, cooked vegan meal. And each night I felt AWFUL! I felt nauseous, like I had a rock in my stomach. It was terrible to go to bed each night feeling so bad. My last night there I took my family to Grezzo, the one thing I was looking forward to most during my trip. I had a beautiful sweet potato and pink grapefruit soup, rich Gnocci and the most divine cheesecake! YUM YUM! And amazingly, I felt great after my meal! I felt completely satisfied and enough energy to spend a full night seeing the town. That was the nail in the coffin. I knew I had to go 100% raw.
So here I am, ready to go full force. I'm currently at my highest weight and my lowest endurence. I was recently hired for a summer position as a sailing instructor so I need to be in tip top health. I look forward to sharing my experience, getting some feedback, and hopefully contributing to yours!
Lots of love and luck!
