Would a homemade sea-salt water mouthwash help whiten my teeth? :o
Additionally, would it have any other effects good or bad?
I include sea salt in my morning and evening dental hygiene and in addition to improving the opportunity for one's teeth to healthily re-mineralise, I find it keeps my mouth fresher, presumably because bacteria find it harder to multiply when salt is present (perhaps it dehydrates the bacteria's membranes?).
Sea salt is so cheap, and so harmless (provided you only use a small amount, it dissolves in the saliva before it can abrade the teeth) that you have little or nothing to lose by adding it to your dental hygiene routine.
Whether it will help whiten your teeth, I cannot say, but anything that adds to the mineral content of the saliva, even if only briefly, can only increase the possibility of remineralisation occurring.
