View Full Version : Some flu tips

I'm pretty sure I'm getting over the flu and not just detox (which I'd prefer!) since DH had the flu for the past two weeks. During last night my throat was so sore and my neck and glands ached and my inner ears too. I went on earthclinic.com and searched.
Made myself a tea with 2 cups of water, a big tbsp honey, 1/8 tsp cayenne, a slice of fresh ginger and 4 tbsp acv. I let it cool while I sat in a hot bath with acv in it. I'm not so into spicy but the tea was not bad at all! Soon my throat felt much better, only my ears were sore. So I sprayed hydrogen peroxide in each one, it bubbled and fizzed, then my ears felt better!
Only got 2 hours of sleep before the kiddies were up and ready to rock and roll. I did sesame oil pulling and had a cold (well, cool was more like it!) shower. I felt great until about 45 minutes ago, when I crashed and ache all over and want to go to bed. But my ears and throat are fine!
Oh, I should make one note...:o upon waking I had ferocious movement in my tummy. Down to the potty (sorry, I have toddlers!) and I must have cleaned out like a metre of ... well, you know what. Maybe it was the acv or the cayenne, I don't know. I tried having another cuppa this morning, but after the first few sips, my body had no use for it. So I guess it has done it's thing. DH took the kids swimming this afternoon so I'd better get some snoozing done!! :D

I read about oil pulling and would like to try it. Is it difficult to keep the oil in your mouth for 15 to 20 minutes? It sounds like a very long time to not swallow. How do you handle it? Hope you feel better!

As long as you don't use too much, it's not a problem to keep it in.
THank you, I am feeling much better today after a good night of sleep! :p

Glad to hear you are better! Amazing what a good nights sleep can do. Can you tell me how much oil you use? I read 1 tablespoon, which when I read it, I thought it was a lot. Perhaps it is better to start out with 1/2 tablespoon? And do you swish/pull for the entire 20 minutes?

Theogirl, I am trying your cayenne tea now for the first sore throat since going raw last year.:(

I will let you know if it works!

Suzy, I use about a tbsp, but don't measure, just kind of take as much as is comfortable. If it's too much, I spit some out before starting. I keep it in my mouth for the 20 minutes, swishing as I remember, as I'm usually showering or getting my kids dressed or something! I'd say I'm swishing approx 2/3 of the time.

Marin Mom, glad the cayenne tea worked. My sore throat came back about a day or so later, but it's not so unbearable now and the stuff is starting to cough up slowly. Considering how sick my stoic DH was with this, I'm glad to have gotten off so "lightly"! Thank you, body!

I missed the earlier threads about this and would have not known about it if it weren't for you! I tried it and it wasn't bad at all. I didn't realize I could walk around getting stuff done while I was swishing. That made all the difference. My teeth did look whiter. What a shocker! I used coconut oil and will get the other kind as well. Thanks again!
