I am just starting raw and have no real idea where to begin...I want to get Alissa's book but right at this moment, funds will not permit... What do people eat on a typical day?? How many nuts/seeds/avocado can you eat?? I don't have a blender either...is this a problem? Today I ate fruit, veggies and some seeds...all raw..but had hot teas...peppermint, white tea..is this ok? Thanks so much!!

You can certainly start and even continue very simply. Listen to your body and what you like. Eat a variety to ensure that you don't get bored and that you get nutrients. And eat lots of greens!
Check your library - mine has a couple raw books.
You can learn a ton hanging around here, too. There is a whole thread on this page of what people eat in a typical day.
Have fun!

Hi bridgetjane, and Welcome! You can do this without a blender. It will mean things like veggies wraps, salads, and monomeals. Do you have a food processor? You would want one of those if you want to make any of the nut pates. As for the hot teas, they are not raw, but many people do them. It really depends on how raw you wish to be. If you're aiming for 100%, you would use fresh herbs and warm water to make them rather than commercially packaged ones with boiling water.
When you're first starting out with raw - don't worry about how much you should/should not eat. Instead, listen to your body. Give it what it wants. When I first went raw, I felt like a starving woman who had finally gotten her first taste of food! It was incredible!! Eventually, I tapered off, and I prefer much more spartan ways of eating and I enjoy fasting/juice feasting from time to time.
Are you trying to lose weight? The rule of thumb on that is that you should stick to avos, olives, and/or coconut oil for your fats, and limit your nut intake. If you're trying to bulk up, go for the nuts all you want.
On a typical day, I stick with mainly fruits and dark green leafies unless I am fasting. Some people stick to just fruits until noon, and then after that incorporate salad-type fare.
Best of Rawesome health to you!!
