We (my husband & I) haven't actually started raw yet - we have granddaughters for the spring break. They go home Sunday & we plan to begin Monday. I've been investigating online & I have several books from a few years ago. We went through a 10-cleanse and food prep classes in 2001. Felt great, hubby's bp was the lowest it's been since his teens. Somehow we drifted back into bad habits.

Now our health sucks - Dennis (husband) has diabetes, high blood pressure and is severely depressed and fatigued all the time. He's really been worried the last couple of weeks.

I have severe IBS, numerous sinus & allergy problems, extremely overweight.

We were doing so well after the 2001 retreat. Knowing it works makes us really stupid to have gone backwards. I just hope we haven't waited too long to return. :(

Anyway, it's good to find a community focused on living foods and good health.

God bless. Darlene

Not returning at all to something you know works - now THAT would be sad.... but instead -- you are using your wisdom to return to a path that you know will bring healing and health to you and your husband! .... that my dear.. is RAWk'n awesome!!

blessings on your journey -- I am so glad you have joined us!

Hello - I'm jealous you have each other to do this together!!!!! I shouldn't complain my husband is pretty good. But!! He still wants his meat - I've got him down to a couple of times a week. He's a big bread lover. Loves his cookies etc. It's alot more work when you have to prepare different things. I wanted to say I understand because I too have diabetes (insulin dependent) and high blood pressure (I take 1/2 pill) and high cholesterol (can't take meds.makes me have chest pains) I started to try no flush Niacin. I go to raw food classes where I live in Ontario - once a month . I just love them. Up until now I really havent's done it fully. But this week I really applied myself. lst day of totally raw my blood sugar stayed all day 4.5 - 5.5 (80 - 100) My blood pressure was even much better. I wish I had someone to do this with. I wish you much luck to stay RAW. Suzy:D

for sure. We really have no excuse to have let it go. I had the good fortune of inheriting some equipment, and purchasing the other at discount prices. We have juicer, vita mix, excalibur, etc. We still remember a lot from the retreat. With this support here, we're really looking forward to it. Thanx, Judith, for your warm welcome. (btw, one of my sisters-in-law is named Judith). Blessings, Darlene

I know how fortunate I am - Dennis & I have done everything together for 45 years. We were converted together, baptized together, quit smoking together, as he says, we're in this together. I know from others how rare and fortunate we are. But, at least your husband cooperates with you and when he sees how well you do, he will probably be more interested. Your numbers are very impressive. It's not the same as having someone to do it with you, but I'll be rooting for you. Much luck to you, too, Suzy. Blessings, Darlene

Hi Darlene,

I am a newbie but I have had an amazing journey as you can tell from my posts. I expect at any moment to have someone tell me to shut up already...lol. But there are such wonderful people here that I don't think that is going to happen anytime soon. Sorry to hear about your husband's health, I too have diabetes.. but I have taken control thru eating right and understand what is happening to me. I am kinda on the fringe here as I am not a true "raw" follower.. but vegan, though they tell me here that there is hope yet for me..lol. Please keep us updated on how you are doing and I will keep you in my prayers.

for your encouraging words. No, I don't think anyone wants you to shut up. :) It's helpful & supportive to hear how others are doing. And, to know that there ARE others. We'll be following your progress as well as keeping all updated. God bless, Darlene
