View Full Version : Why exactly do you need enzyme supplements when you're raw?

I thought we were eating raw foods in order to ingest enough enzymes. Are the supplements for people in transition or those who are not 100% raw? Or can you just never get enough enzymes?

Maybe for bad food combining? I dunno. I don't do any supplements and I feel friggin fantastic on raw. ;)

The only supplement I take is Chlorella tablets for the B12. I just went off of my synthetic B-Complex supplement which I'm very happy about.

I took Alissa's enzymes often in the beginning because of a very weak digestive system that I have had my whole life. It really helped strenghten it.

faith4u: oh, okay, I didn't even think about that. I was too shallow-minded for a second there. I'm glad it helped you.

I find the digestive enzymes helpful because as the previous poster said, many of us have weak digestive systems so when the enzymes are taken, they alleviate indigestion, bloat, gas...especially when not food combining properly. They are best taken right before a meal.

I've not done it but I think it's because going from SAD to raw, many do have problems with their digestive systems. Victoria Boutenko suggested alleviating that by doing green smoozies for about 2-3 months before going raw.

Personally, I think it's because many are so used to eating mushy cooked food that they don't chew anymore and they eat too fast, don't chew, become bloated and have to take something for it. *shrugs* I dunno.
