If I remember correctly, the one's labled "raw" at wfm are actually cooked to get them out of their shell? boiled in oil even? is that right?

do these need to be special ordered to get the real raw ones?

I rarely, if ever use them, but need them for a raw dish to present to others and would like it to be truly raw.

I want to make a cheesecake and could substitute, but the macs and almonds at the market are conventional. I'm all organic.

Guess this is why I don't use many nuts, lol.

I get raw ones at my health food store.

I have heard that they are heat-treated to get them out of the shell. Also, humans can't eat truly raw cashews as they are poisonous to us, so they must be somewhat processed. I looked at a website for you but they don't sell cashews.

I have heard the same thing about peanuts too I think.
