OMG Avocados are 10 for $10

Thanks GlimR I am there..I think..wait hold my horses..can you have too many avocados? i have had to throw away mushy ones when i (typically) buy too much. is there a way to prolong the shelf life?

Get 100 of em! hahaha. I'm alone in my house right now and have about 12 even though they weren't on sale. I could see buying at least 20. Lots of guac. Mmmmm.

Aghhhhhh.it might have been last week at Publix!! New sale starts Monday!!!

To prolong the shelf life, after they start to give a tiny bit put them in the fridge...this keeps them fresh and usable for a week or so. Just made some guac and some avo/cacao pudding...love both~

WOW, I have never seen them for a buck a piece around here. That would be awesome.

Yesterday at the supermarket they had avacados that weren't even close to ripe (very green) or TOO ripe (very mushy). Uggggh, so I wait for them to ripen up.

Question on that though........how ripe is too ripe? I never really know if it's ok to get the mushy ones. Why do you all think?

I just got back from my local Walmart, where they are 98 cents each. As for how to buy, if you want to use it today, get one that gives a little around the stem area, but is not mushy on the sides. Mushy = over ripe.

AHHH that made my day too- on the weekend i went to my local meijer and BOOM 10 FOR $10 +11th FREE !!!!!!!! I GOT 11 just because i don't know how to store more (i heard freezing makes them a bit yucky).. should i go get more? mmmmmmmmmm I ADORE AVOCADOS!!!!!!

P.S. and i have to say- there are no avocados like Meijer avocados..... no other store can compare! they're HUGE and juicy every time i buy them! GO MEIJER!

I have put mine in the fridge to extend their shelf life, but do you all put them in the freezer? How does that work?

I just got an advertisement from Safeway that starting tomorrow, March 26th, avocados are going on sale for a buck each. The sale is good through next Tuesday April 1st.
