I have the Oster with a black base and costs around $35 to 40 and has a food processor cup too. I really like it and it works almost as good as my Healthmaster 100 did.

Well I have an oyster, can't remember the type and I have a vitamix. I have to say that there is no comparaison. I would seriously suggest holding off on getting a blender and then save up for the vitamix, it is worth every penny! You see, right now I am away from home and my vitamix and using the oyster....well. It does not make «homogenous soups» so much as it makes watery pockets and grainy soups. It is really hard using it all the time, of course it is better than nothing I guess. But in all honesty, I don't recommend them, try saving up if you can or go to a thrift store and buy a cheap used blender if you can't wait, that way you aren't spending 50 dollars on a blender which could be put towards one that really works!

I could not afford a vitamix either, but I bought an Oster Fusion. It has a "food grind" setting, a "smoothie" setting, and the regular high, medium, low...I love, love, love it.....of course I've never had a vitamix, and don't know, with growing kids if I will ever afford to get one! The Fusion does not look like the other Osters....it has more of a square base with a flat panel of controls.....

I love my Oster 12-speed blender, it blends smoothies, makes soups, crushes ice, & I can also throw in flax seeds (dry) and grind into meal. I would love a Vitamix, but I'm too thrifty to buy one. :)

If you can afford $200 check the Breville BBL600XL (http://www.brevilleusa.com/products/bbl600xl/index.jsp?sku=bbl600xl&cID=103&pID=21&pvID=21), I ahve it and I doubt I'll want a VitaMix, it does everything and has several exclusive features that make it a one of a kind blender.
I am not saying this is as powerful as a vitamix, it's not, but I don't see why I'd ever need a more powerful blender, there's nothing I can't do in either the blender or food processor.
I have the same one as rawkincake. I have a vitamix as well but this is a great little blender. I have been using the food processor attachment for a couple of years because the size is perfect for making raw for 1-2 people. I do have to say that I love, love, love my vitamix and wouldnt trade it for anythig!!
