hey guys i'm kathy, and i'm an aspiring raw foodist. I really really want to go raw and wanted some support, so i came to this cite. I actually found this cite through a friend :D and am so grateful. I've always had weight problems and i've tried atkins, the grapefruit diet, the three day diet, cabbage soup diet, nutrisystem, etc.:o but its always the same; you feel deprived and old habits kick in. So when i heard about the raw food diet i just thought it was so interesting, so i've been reading a lot of books on it to inform myself as best as i can before i begin my raw food journey. The Raw Food way just seems like it would be way healthier than all those other diets and much more enjoyable, especially becaue of all the benefits it has; so i'm ready to give it a shot ;) The dreaded detox stage does scare me a little; i just hope it wont be that bad and if it does, oh well right? after all the body has to be cleansed. By the way, i'm from Los Angeles. :D

Welcome!! I wish you the best of Rawesome health! Detox is different for every body. If it gets too bad, draw yourself a salt bath - it will help to gently pull out those toxins. Exercize is another great detoxifier. Best of luck to you!!

Welcome! You are starting on an amazing journey. I have been steadily losing weight on the raw food lifestyle and every week I weigh less than I did the week before! There is a weight-loss thread on this site as well that may be helpful to you.

Way to go and welcome to the forum! You made the right choice. You're lucky to be in L.A.-I'm sure you have a wide variety of fresh produce. I can't wait to move out to Cali. It's been one of my dreams for a while. Best of luck on your journey and feel free to ask many questions!
Be well,
Francesca

Aloha and Welcome to RFT!!! well - to answer your question... I had no clue what I was doing -- so I followed the 30 day plan in Alissas book -- LIVING on LIVE Foods....
it was the best advice I could've had. I jumped in 100% - and simply followed her plan - made the incredibly delicious and surprisingly easy to make recipes and I was on my way...
detox does differ for everyone like MattyeLee said ... but you get through - drink lots of water and if you can -- stay raw -- it helps you thru that detox phase much faster...
I'm so glad you have joined us -- and SERIOUSLY -- if you haven't already gotten Alissa's book -- it's the best investment you will make to achieve optimum health in a very short period of time....
many of us here have been down the same path as you... Atkins, south Beach, Weight watchers, TrimSpa, HyDroxy-Cut, Cabbage Soup DIEt, and every other kind of DIEit...
and now... we are enjoying an amazing array of foods that are absolutely delicious and GOOD FOR YOU TOO!!
rawk on.... blessings on your journey! (get the book -- Alissa makes it so easy!)

Welcome!!! I went all raw in one day!! It worked well for me. I have too many food addictions and cravings to eat just a little cooked food. One bite for me is slippery slope... Raw all the time keeps me happy and not craving food.
Best wishes on your RAW transformation!

I never have really had terrible detox....sometimes I wonder if only those who suffer from bad detox write and those who haven't don't write because they're no in the middle of it....oh, maybe there's a slight headache here and there or a day without as much energy and you might need a nap but not anything to put you to bed for days on end. I hope you've enjoyed Alissa's book and DVD....they're everything you need to go raw. Judith
