Hey everyone, I have a get together with friends I havent seen in a while, Ive lost some weight in the first month I went raw but then I just stopped, Ive been about 100% raw for almost a year now, and I still have 10 pounds to loose, I would like to loose at least 5 before this event. Is there a detox I can do to get rid of it. I know of the master cleanse, or a juice fast, but does anyone know if that would work?

Are you getting any exercise?
How many fats are you eating?
How many nuts are you eating?
I ask about exercise, cause when we take in, we need to expel. Obviously so increasing whatever you are doing may assist. Although personally I don't notice that exercising does that much for me... but I do it anyway LOL
You need to take in fats to burn fats. Increasing your fats via avocados, flax oil, coconut oil ... can help you to release more fat.
Last, how many nuts are you eating? Reducing or removing them from your diet for the next few weeks may help.

okay so this is what I would do:
stop the nuts.
limit myself to 3 avocados a week.
add flax oil or coconut oil to my morning smoothie.
do 30 minutes minimum walking per day.

Make sure you are drinking LOTS of water. Dehydration can stall weight loss. Try to drink your water when you don't have a lot of food in your stomach, so you won't interrupt your digestion.
Dancing is a great form of excersize, because it is so enjoyable! The time (and pounds) melt away.
Fasting on water for 2-3 days, followed by a few days of eating only juicy fruit and a gradual reintroduction of fats and veggies into your diet will easily get rid of 5-10 pounds. You will also detoxify and rejuvenate your system.
If you keep eating nuts, make sure you soak them.
Above all, consider your mental health. Relax, love your body, forget the extra pounds, and don't worry about a thing! Relaxation and self-love helps your body reach it's ideal weight. One thing that helps me get through the stressful times is to think "today's troubles are enough for today." Just focus on doing what you have to do RIGHT NOW, and the rest will take care of itself.

Definitely exercise!! I like to do a small portion of almonds and raisins after a good workout.

I agree with rawstrength that a short fast like this will definitely help. Moreover, you might emerge with a better sense of how you want to eat to maintain your ideal weight. That said, try to remember that your friends love you for YOU and not for what you look like (at least they should). They are probably more worried about themselves anyway. But I've certainly felt the way you feel in the situation...

Do cardio exercise to lose weight (ex. powerwalking, kickboxing, etc.) Weight training may make you gain some weight but the more lean muscle mass you have, the more calories you burn. Muscle uses a lot of calories just to stay alive. Yeah, so like others have said, exercise! Everyone's suggestions are excellent.

personally i don't like suggesting fasts/feasts for weight loss... as it can mess with your metabolism and some people gain more after... and that would suck since that's your goal... to be thinner.
of course, if you fasted right before the event and then went, you wouldn't have time to gain anything back. but then you couldn't indulge either.
i'm more of a "do it for life" kinda weight release person. i don't do stuff for the instant gratification. not saying that's bad... just saying that's what i'm doing for me... going for the long haul... :D
