Does anyone have the 5 tray? Is it big enough?

I have the 4-tray, and it's been pretty okay for two people. The 5-tray is much bigger as it's also wider. I guess it depends how many people you're making food for and how much of it would be dehydrated... but most people would be good with the 5-tray.

Big enough for what? If you put a tray of lasagna in it, you've pretty much used 2-3 trays. If you're have a day of prep so you wont have to do it again, add a tray of cookies, a tray of sliced apples, a tray of crackers and no, it wouldn't be big enough.

I'm just one person and I wouldn't go for less than the 9. Having said that, a 5 is better than a round one with a hole in the middle.... or none at all.

I have the 5 tray and it's plenty big enough, plus it takes up quite a bit of space when I use it so I can't imagine fitting the 9 tray in my kitchen!

I have the 9 tray and so far, I have not needed 9 trays at a time! It depends how often and how much you were dehydrating. If you're like me, the noise grates on you so you wouldn't use it that often! xxx

That's one of the best reasons to get the 9.... get it all done at once so you don't use it often. ;)

I agree, I have the 9 tray, and its nice to do a whole bunch of things at once, and use less often. I use mine on average, once a week.

Oooooh! That's so true! I think I would like to use mine just 1-2 times per week. I go through the flax crackers I make pretty quickly!

I'm probably mostly going to me making veggie/fruit chips. Maybe some of the breads. I'm thinking of getting the 5 tray today. Just because I am new at this and it would be less of an investment. (not by much though) How long does it take when ordering from alissa's site?

Best to email them and ask.

Good choice! You won't regret it! Its also great for warming food up if you want something warm without having cooked food - its big enough to put four big bowls in to warm, at the same time as a couple of trays. have fun! xxx

Hello,

I think it determines how much you plan on dehyrating. I get all my jobs done that I plan on doing with my 5-tray-so it works for me. Good luck with your decsion.

I just got the 9 tray and I love it. In one day I made Sunburgers, onion bread, dehydrated soaked almonds & walnuts and made the apple crisp from the raw table web-site. I also ordered extra tex-flex sheets so that I can make fruit leather and other stuff in one day. I got the one with the timer. The noise doesn't bother me as I am watching a movie while I am preparing everything.
