hi
so, i am absolutely in love with bee pollen, so much so, that i sometimes overdo it a bit. i'll eat like 3-4 tablespoons at once sometimes! it's always on an empty stomach and either with a lot of water and/or some fresh juice. every time i do that, which has only been a few times, my digestive fires feel like they are just blazing! it seriously feels like my stomach is on fire and going to erupt....not so good. afterwards, i feel fine, but that sensation will last for a while.
is this normal? what's going on? too much enzyme activity? hmmm...i don't know, anyone got some insight?
thanks :)

I went to your blog, its great!! Went to your friends company and have book marked Its really good and so informative.I will check it out further.Tried to leave this comment there but i am not sure it 'took'.
Oh, regarding Bee Pollen I know nothing except that my artist friend Gina Truex (she can be googled) makes the most stunning art work with it..you can smell her artwork.
I Know, no help at all..

Not sure what you have going on there but my now 5 year old daughter adores pollen and can eat half a jar in a sitting if I don't watch her! I try to limit her to a small dish of it each day lol. That stuff is like candy! She dosn't have any reactions like that so i'm thinking maybe you can just build up over time, you could have a very mild alergic reaction or something?

thanks ginger.
i was thinking it could be a mild allergic reaction, too. i am allergic to bee stings. however, i've never had a problem with any other bee products and i eat a lot of bee foods. so, it's just the pollen that is giving me problems.
i hope i can build up a tolerence. i eat it quite often and in small doses it's fine. indeed, it is like candy-i LOVE it and that is so fantastic that you're daughter loves it, too!
love 'n light

Hey Earth Sista (luv the name),
I tried to leave a comment on your blog actually. I think i have to register with google though.
I really thought a lot of Love Street. looks like a great company.I did book mark them and want to browse their site more later. i love all the info they give.Good move working with them!
BTW Good luck in your new city. Looks like you are off to a fantastic start there.
I'm confused, is this thread about art or bee pollen? ;)
Stacey, I experience exactly the same issue as you, with Bee Pollen. I also experience it if I eat too much watermelon in one sitting. Now, the thing is, I never used to experience this with watermelon - it gradually became more noticeable. I have a few hypotheses about what the possible reason(s) might be, but I've yet to draw any firm conclusions, so I won't post them here, or they may unnecessarily confuse the issue.
I just wanted to reassure you that you are not alone with this symptom from eating bee pollen.
BTW, I do still eat pollen but only one teaspoon a day, at which dosage, I experience no symptoms. Incidentally, I also find that mixing the pollen with some oil reduces any chances of this indigestion occuring.

thanks so much for all that!
i really hope you check love street living foods out-the owner actually gets all of his products from the exact same people as david wolfe gets his from and we all know how dw touts his products as the best. turns out, sunfood is waaaay overcharging for their products. love street offers much more affordable prices.
if you get in touch with the owner via the website, he may even send you a free sample of somethings :)

i think this thread is about a couple o things :)
intentionally for bee pollen, though. thanks for your insight. what sort of oil do you take with your bee pollen? despite my "firey belly" when i eat it, i just have such difficulty controlling myself around it....it is soooooooo yummy :)
good to know im not alone.
Generally, I take a teaspoon of Udo's Choice oil with a teaspoon of pollen.
Incidentally, if you eat a little fruit with your pollen, I am given to understand that the hemicellulose in the fruit fibre has a synergistic effect with the pollen. Whether you'd notice this or not is another question but I just thought I 'd mention it!
