I sprouted them myself. They've been in my fridge for maybe a little over a week. They smell a little weird but they taste ok. Not the freshest but not bad. How can you tell if they're spent?
If they're soggy and smell something like...well, soggy socks(!) ;), then I'd put them in the bin.
I find alfalfa sprouts don't stay truly fresh for more than about 3 days, but if you're prepared to push the boundaries and have strong digestion you may get away with a little longer. However, a week sounds a bit much to me.
