i am wondering if anyone has taken any certification classes (or not) and started a business/career associated with health and raw foods. Ever since i became vegan 5 years ago i've wanted to make some kind of career out of coaching others. i know i would love it, but i'm not sure how to start and/or if i need some kind of degree. i have coached about 20 friends to become vegan, as well as brought so many vegan recipes to an organic restaurant i worked at. a friend even made a documentary about going vegan cause of me! anyway, i LOVE it, so, yeah...anyone started anything?

There are quite a few of us out here who are doing this. First you need to decide what you want to do - the possibilities are numerous! I'm looking at my career as a journey - I am a certified raw chef through Alissa, and I have written my own e-book and have been selling it successfully this past month since it went live. I have numerous projects in the works right now, including a raw children's storybook line. I am also an artist, and will be illustrating those stories myself:D I also have a Raw Art shop with my works on Cafe Press (link is on my blog here if you're curious). I am about to get heavily into raw fitness and body building, and will most likely be doing something with it later on down the road.
Raw life really has served me well to tap my inspirations and fuel my artistics passions! It clears the mind, spirit, and senses and allows you to reach deep within to find your heartsong! Listen to it and you can't go wrong.

Thanks for starting the thread, I was curious about this too! I plan on getting certified at some point and would love to do something, aside from solidifying my knowledge, with it. I'm curious as to what people go on to do with the training as well. :)

I would say it depends on where you want to take it.
I have taken Alissa's certification (the 5-day), plus other certification programs and continue to take them. (I look at it kind of like other people look at CEU's at colleges).
I teach raw food classes, do raw food certifications, phone and e-mail coaching, private consultations, and do a full-immersion program for parents who want to take their children with autism and/or adhd raw. I'll also be doing retreats. I'm also in the process of writing a book and several e-books.
So like I said, it depends on what you want to do and where you want to take it.:D But it CAN be done!:D HTH!:)

I haven't gone that way YET, but its coming.....
I have a BS in Nutrition, and I just applied to graduate school to get my masters in the same...then I'm going to get my RD, so I'll be "legit" in the eyes of the government, but I'm going to focus on raw instead of SAD, like they are presently pushing. "Legit" meaning...I feel I can get into a lot more doors that wouldn't otherwise open for me if I have those 2 initials at the end of my name (RD), because they just aren't open to other ideas (raw vegan).
I'm also hoping to take Alissa's 5-day course at some point this year.
I'm very excited that I finally have decided to do this!

Bingo24: Mara Flood is one of the raw and living food instructors listed on Alissa's website. It says that she's in the Goshen, NY area. I called her because she is the only one with an 845 area code-same as mine.

Hi there,
I am raw coach. I love making going and staying raw fun and easy for everyone! I specialize in helping people overcome emotional eating issues.
It is very rewarding.
I do find that I get A LOT of requests for meal prep and delivery, which I don't do. I would highly recommend people becoming raw food chefs, I really think it is all about the delicious food! :-)
Blessings,
Audrey

Oh, I thought of something else to add to this thread.
Those of you are already providing services to businesses and self employed individuals could easily start focusing on marketing your services/areas of expertise to raw and raw related businesses!
For example, raw businesses all need: book keepers and accountants, website designers, graphic designers, film production people, PR and media services, legal assistance, etc.... the opportunities in the raw and natural health movement are HUGE!! Raw is exploding upon the world and will only keep growing as more and more people become disallusioned by conventional and even alternative approaches that aren't solving their problems!
I myself am in need of some of the above services and would LOVE to barter with people for coaching services if anyone provides any of the above! :-)
Blessings,
Audrey

Chilove they are great ideas!
I want a career in raw food but I also really want to do a degree in medicine, so what I have decided to do is get a degree in medicine and then go on to specialise in nutrition, maybe set up my own business in raw food nutrition, and I could recommend the services of other raw food companies, like raw food chefs, raw food consultants etc!
Im still undecided though! I will see where life takes me :) xxx

Hey Seren: for the last 3 years I've wanted a degree in medicine, but now I'm on the fence about it as well. I'm really passionate about raw food because I think it can provide greater healing than most doctors! I think I might want to become a holistic doctor or something. I'm not sure either :)
